Beathawk - String Ensembles Now Released!!!
Costed me $9.99 USD, but only because the samples are absolutely of the highest quality. Unlike Tutti Orchestra where you're kinda stuck with pretty thick orchestral textures (even in the string patches alone), you get the simpler textures you come to expect from strings. This includes standard string patches like Marcatto, Sustained, Pizzicato, etc, and in individual sections you get major and minor runs and other types of riffs as well as another type of pizzicato (snap pizzicato) and even orchestral tuning sounds. I daresay these strings totally annihilate any orchestral string patch from Miroslav 1 & 2.

Here's hoping UVI follows up with more expanded orchestral sample packs (brass and woodwinds).

Was playing it again this evening for a few hours and was grateful for the piano roll. It almost feels old-fashioned, but in a good this-is-an-instrument way. I always come up with something that has promise and feels, I dunno, real.
Excellent! And coming on the heels of the recent Middle East and Bossa, makes you wonder what other surprises UVI might have in store.

When were Middle East and Bossa released? Just curious to find out how often UVI releases a new sound pack to look forward to.
Ideas just flow out of me with this app. It's at least ten times faster than Gadget and Caustic, and forty times faster than FL Studio Mobile 3. I can even create my own synth sounds from any synth, sample it, turn stretch mode on or off, and just jam!
The new sound packs really open up the sound of beathawk. It's not like others who just throw samples at you. You can really make some good music with these sounds.
Beat Hawk has highest quality samples and VARIETY of almost any app.
BEAT HAWK was first app I made a song the first time I used it. I loved this app from day 1. I wonder if they know about the midi channel number situation?

Well, that's what I mean. Beathawk sat dormant for a long time. Then we got some new content introduced along with the update (3/16), and it was easy to assume that was it. Then a couple weeks later (3/27), Middle East and Bossa. Then another nice surprise on 4/5, Session Strings! So, here's hoping they are going more in the direction of Gadget and iMaschine, rolling out regular doses of new expansion content.
I agree. Gadget and iMaschine have excellent content, but something about Beathawk just makes it easier for me to get going with it. All 3 are inspiring, but somehow I end up going farther with Beathawk, at least so far. And these new expansions can enhance and breathe new life into the whole experience!
What exactly does stretch mode do? I've created my own samples and used them but I can't even remember if I had stretch mode on. Everything worked as expected.
What's the price of the string sections IAP?

Hmm tempted. I could get the app, the strings and the world perc for just under 20 bucks.
I don't think you would be disappointed. Just keep in mind that the AUv3 support is not entirely stable yet
Anybody have a comparison with Miroslov or ISymphonic strings?
Wish they will tell which of their sample library they took these Beathawk packs from.. There is a Brass 'instrument' patch from the 'Brass Riff' pack (All Unison Hit) that sounds much better that any of the Brass Vsti I have...
By the sound of it, I'll be expecting another IAP in a week or two! At least I hope so.
When UVI releases new Beathawk content, I'll be on it!

I spent money on the novation sale instead.

Have been fiddling around with the Baroque pack which felt a little thin (in terms of numbers) to start with, but the Classical Guitar Harmonics are worth the price of the pack for me. I agree with @Lady_App_titude; just seem to make things when I open this app.
