Thanks, so exactly like the 12.9, apps need to update for the resolution.
It's been a SLOW process, hopefully iOS 11 will improve this as the apps that don't implement all the cool new features will feel old in no time.
So far I'm really enjoying the new 10.5 Pro, it's definitely faster than my Air2 by a noticeable degree with most apps. Watching it rescan my Traktor library in about 2 minutes was a nice surprise (compared to 10-15 minutes on the Air2, at a guess), and all my Model 15 patches play nicely without the iPad getting that warm like before.
As mentioned, it really doesn't feel too much bigger than the Air 2 until you compare them side to side. About 1/4" wider on the short side, and touch more than than on the long side. Same thickness as far as I can tell too. The Pro screen is a lot brighter, no doubt about that. Gorgeous display really, Apple just keeps getting better and better on that front. So far all my apps look fine, haven't seen any obvious issues from the new display size here. Having a bit more space to type on the display is nice too.
I'm digging the stereo speakers too, nice upgrade on that front from the Air 2.
Downsides? I forgot that the camera lens sticks out like on the newer iPhones, and with the way it was displayed at the Apple store, I couldn't tell that in person while trying it first. Luckily it lies flat on it's own without wobbling because of it. Which is good because...
... there's no case for the new Pros yet other than the leather sleeve or the basic screen protector, neither of which I want. I really liked the leather Apple case for the Air2, so I'm hoping Apple will release one soon. If not, happy to go third party once those start getting released.
Overall it's like every other iPad upgrade I've done has been, everything feels smoother and faster, and suddenly you realize how much slower your previous device feels in comparison. Damn you Apple!
@Tarekith I picked up a 3rd party case for they 10.5. Very inexpensive (and undoubtedly not great quality...). Will let you know what I think when they both get here.

Max, no it doesn't wiggle when you lay it flat and play it, thought I said that in my initial comments The sound isn't mind blowing or anything, but at least when you're looking at the display it feels like it's now coming at you instead of shooting out to one side forcing me to cup my hand to angle it towards me.
Agreed. I've been set on a 10.5 for a long time, but when I saw the new 12.9 first hand, I nearly went for it.
I just came back, I almost got 12.9 then I did one last "use while standing" test and came to my senses. I need the mobility advantage of 10.5. I have a 15 inch macbook and 27inch iMac st home for when I really need a bigger screen
Yes the true tone is noticeable, only downside is that in some rooms I use it in almost feels like it shifts a little too quickly. If it's sunny and then a small cloud goes over the sun for a few seconds, its like someone turned on night shift briefly. Not a huge deal, but still better in the long run.
I am definitely waiting to mess around with 'Files' before I think of going beyond the 128gigs I have now. It has to be nice and smooth cleaning up before I buy a dog that big.
ProMotion is pretty sweet in use, really makes anything involving navigation a lot more fluid. Scrolling is CLEAN. Really excited for drag and drop now, will be a lot easier than I was thinking before from the demo.
Managed to kill 30% of the battery with an hour long Groovebox session, which I guess isn't too bad ultimately.
I´m still undecided. I ask me if the size of the battery makes a different.
Like some hardware might work on the large iPad 12.9" i´m scared that the smaller battery from a 10.5" gives me the message that the power isn´t enough.
Otherwise i could grab a 10.5" tomorrow. It seems i have to find out the hard way
I mean i have a large iPhone and the large Macbook Pro, so i would want the large iPad too maybe.
But i think in this case i try the 10.5" because it has the same power (not sure about throttle over time).
I want it mainly for the coming NanoStudio 2, BeatMaker 3 and some synths. I think i still have to use sample libraries and FX from my mac.
The 10.5 is the perfect iPad size IMO. The screen feels and looks so much bigger, but the overall size is almost the same as previous iPads. I like the idea of the 12.9, but it just feels too big to carry around to me. If I was mainly going to be using it at my desk it would make more sense, but then I'd be using the laptop anyway.
I have the same thoughts......so i think if i buy it tomorrow, it will be the 10.5" 512GB wi-fi only since i don't use a sim for it.
I find a notebook much more comfortable when sitting while a small, light weight but still powerful iPad is of course great for holding in one hand or over the head while on the couch etc.
I mean i would def. prefer a new MacBook pro 15" but they are so freaking expensive now that i just can dream of it.

Aside from a very minor crackle when adding apps to Audiobus/AUM as others are playing live (would like to know what causes it!), this is brilliant. Had a few Audiobus lanes going, then loads of AUM channels, lots of MIDI going back and forth. Not a hint of the Pro being troubled, whereas my Air 1 would have keeled over.
I think the screen size is totally subjective (eureka!). I had 12.9 for about a week before I let it go with no regrets. It was just too massive to have on my lap or my looping rig. It has The PRESENCE.
The step up from 9.7 might be a different story.
I definitely urge going to a store and trying one before purchase.

Been using 10.5 for the last two days. The increased size over the 9.7 is becoming noticeable and worth it, but any bigger would have been too much.
I think GarageBand has some issues though, several times an instance of Alchemy has gone permanently silent and I had to delete and add a new instance.
I'm still waiting on my 10.5", but I was reading some articles about it, and on certain benchmarks, the iPad is beating a Macbook Pro!

What he mean is that with Apples adapter Lightning/USB you've got USB3-support then (like hispeed)...
The adapter cost around $30 and supports many kind of devices...

they should make Mainstage for ios. Im pretty sure these new ipad pro are more than capable of running it

Im glad i waited and didnt plunk down on the 12.9 just yet. Im super used to the Mini size and hopping up to the 10.5 im sure will be intense. I might have to scrounge up a used 6s Plus for bedtime reading and pootime Beatmaking
