Question though, so one should not apply this to an entire mix right just individual tracks?
So...does this work with live audio too? I kinda want this for my live vocal mic and guitar, but if it cant do it live then i dont need it. Also, is it a cpu hog? On an air 2 so im not sure how many more apps i can keep piling on my current aum setup.

Got this seems to work well on cleaning background noise on mics in house with dryer in background. Minor decrease in original volume will have to check curves and levels to be sure good stuff still there though sounds good to my ears quick listen. Will try after volume boost again

Try this way, it’s even better, just let Brusfri “Listen” to a section that just has the noise and nothing else you want, it only needs a few seconds, that way it targets only that noise in the whole file, and you get much more balanced result, then just adjust the Threshold a little bit
If you’re recording in a room with background noise, you can simply hold down the learn button, then start playing and adjust the controls to optimize your sound. As long as the background noise frequencies aren’t too close to what you’re recording, it works great.
So will this work?
Say I have a noisy garage whee I record, so just record a blank track of the room noise, then save that as a preset, then record another track then apply that preset. Will that work?
it's not a noise reduction app that applies (whatever) operations on the signal, but treats the supposedly 'silence' between signal sections.
(according to Klevgrand's own words in their video intro: a sequence of cleverly tuned gates)
If you're interested in (basic) details of the method: they are explained in a Drawmer manual of their dynamic processing plugins. Info starts at page 10 and it's worth reading if you want to learn something that goes beyond the usual attack/decay blurb.

This was - and obviously still is - a $600 software, so praise Klevgrand if they implemented something with similiar functionality for the treatment of low signal levels.
The app isn't related to the Drawmer package at all, just based on the same ideas to suppress background noise by dynamic regulation.

What doesn’t it do? By not using phase cancellation techniques, the processed audio will remain sounding as natural as possible without artifacts. This is why Brusfri doesn't handle transient types of noise like clicks and pops.
Yeah I originally let mic run on recording and used that silence to clean background noise. It did well. Tried previously with eqs and this is much faster and works much better
It can't do miracles so it depends. I think the app is well worth purchasing.
doesn't have presets at the moment. that would increase its usefulness 10 fold imho, have just emailed Johan a request for this.. maybe others can do the same?
of course, it might also be that the audio sampling that is involved in the individual reductions takes up a few MB of memory, so a lot of presets might hog space..
but then again in Audition ( which is what i have used for NR for decades ) the .imp file saved is tiny compared to the wav sample its taken from... so hopefully it's ' do-able' ?

It isn’t often that Sir Doug declares an app essential, so even though most of our sounds are fairly clean in the first place, I took notice.
A few minutes of using this on vocal samples has convinced me what a good buy Brusfri is, especially at the intro rate. Sure there are other ways to do what it does, some vastly more complex and requiring specific expertise. But the beauty of Brusfri is its simplicity of use. Anyone can get a good result with this app.
seconded - and there is no need for presets because every noise level is different.
You just have to dial in what applies to your specific track (or live situation)
I actually just used it in a really useful way for me, I have just finished a demo for the Elementals pack for Roli NOISE, and I set it all up in Modstep.
I recorded the audio the way I normally do, in the little Tascam, then synced it to the video, but the level was really low, so I stuck in Audacity and normalised it as per normal, but there was a lot of hiss, more than I was happy with anyway, so I dropped the normalised file back into Dropbox then imported that into Cubasis, then applied Brusfri to a very small and quiet section were the noise was pretty much just on its own.
The results are very good as you will hear later when I post the video
untrue - in a fair number of different situations.
any road, Johan is aware of the Cubasis annoyance and despite it being Steinbergs failing in this instance is considering putting in the internal preset system as in Haaze etc..

You have to fine tune the preset anyway - and it takes more time to try 3 or 4 than to dial while listening to the material
