I’ve done less music this year than I wanted to, and have bought less new apps, instead focussing on using - and in some cases getting IAPs for - existing apps. But if pushed to nominate one new app that I bought this year, it would be Syntronik.

GarageBand even though I have owned it for years
It’s AUV3 hosting is excellent, alchemy is good, then the new beat sequencer..
I was using gadget for ages and was used to its work flow then tried GB but struggled to get anything done cause it seemed slower, having said that, once I got flow going then I got faster
Runner up would be Kauldron, I nearly didn’t get it cause the original demo video made it sound poor but, boy can it craft some amazing presets

It is impressive. I kind of don’t get it – as a reformed member of the shoegaze cult, I hear chorus and I get flashbacks of loading Roland JC 120s in and out of clubs…

XDrummer has been absolutely fantastic. Somehow it gets a tonne of flak here on the forums but it's been my most used app ever since I got it, and there is nothing else with that functionality on iOS
