  • Very nice update.

Looks good, thanks. Waiting for midi exports.

  • You little dancer. Thanks @SevenSystems it’s great to see things moving forward. Love this app

  • Yes yes yes. Link opens this thing up in amazing new ways!

Hey @SevenSystems, I’m not able to move midi clips by the grid. I’ve got it set to 16 but it only moves by bars. I think I remember being able to adjust by smaller increments?

  • edited December 2017

@Norbert: MIDI import and export is for the next update, hold on :)

@DCJ: Sorry, parts can only be placed at bar boundaries, it has always been that way... for more fine - grained control you would need to move the events inside. (the grid setting only applies to the pianoroll editor.)

Everyone: Glad you found and liked the update. If there's any problems, as always, let me know.

Hey talking about problems. When I open Xequence sometimes, it shows there is an error and it cannot load the last set up I had. Moreover, it behaves like if it had been the first time I used it, restarting over all the tutorial stuff. It happens 1 time out of 3 basically.

Using it on ipad pro 10.5 if it can help.

Do you remember if Xequence has crashed just before that happened, i.e. has it just exited to the Home screen without any animation? If so, do you remember what you were doing that might have led to the crash? Or have you been recording into Xequence while it was in the background and you were playing some other app in the foreground? That might lead to Xequence crashing in the background and showing the behaviour you mentioned, though I'm not aware of any crasher bugs right now...

    Metronome?

There's been no changes to the metronome in this version, however, if you're refering to an audio metronome: we're planning to add that in the next update :)

Thank you. I feel a little bit like a diva demanding my bagel be scooped out before the cream cheese is added. But you get used to that kind of thing.

Alternately, you could point me in the direction of an ideal metronome patch in, for instance, Mersenne or some low CPU AU, I'd happily do that.

  • It was happening when used with Auria and Moog 15. After closing all the apps and loading Auria, then xequencer, it was having this error and restarting as new. But seems I can't reproduce it since the update. Maybe it has fixed it.

OK, if you find a way to reproduce it every time, let me know and I can investigate (not that easy, I know)

Haha. Well I always have Gadget loaded anyway, so I just have a Phoenix sitting on channel 16 there in EVERY project, which just plays a pulse wave with a short decay. And Xequence's metronome is configured to Gadget and Channel 16. But I sometimes get annoyed as well by the need to run a specific synth or Gadget in order to have a metronome, so I'll sort this in the next update. No worries about the cream cheese bagel. If your demand was totally ridiculous, I'd just ignore it :D

  • Ooh flipping. If you explore more stuff with inverting reversing etc I would be very happy

Pretty update Captain. Will also be pleased about the metronome.

  • Nice job on the update!

    Metronome? Sure. Whatever.

blah blah she said etc blah blah :)

  • So awesome thanks for all your hard work!

  • I sometimes have trouble selecting notes. Is this a known issue? Latest iOS, 1st gen 12.9

  • @Fitz: Could you give me a little more details, i.e. do the problems occur with tap selection or rectangular selection, and what's the problem exactly... do you "miss" notes? Does it only occur right after opening the pianoroll? (this is a problem we've seen sometimes but couldn't reproduce reliably).

  • @SevenSystems: not too sure, just wanted to check before I tried to get it to reoccur. It happened after recording using the built in keyboard. I closed the keyboard, then couldn’t select any of the notes. Sometimes I could but I had to hold for a while. Or hold to the side of a note and then move to grab it. Closing and reopening the project solved it.

Also, while recording using the built in keyboard there doesn’t seem to be an undo there. I need to close the keyboard, then use the undo there. Would be useful if there was an undo on the keyboard page. Thanks

I wish there was a better onscreen keyboard, I never use this app without a midi keyboard.

  • @Fitz: OK, that's a good starting point for pinning down the issue, will investigate. And concerning a dedicated Undo button in the keyboard screen: Yeah, makes total sense and the switching back and forth annoys me as well. The problem is that there's no room in the bottom toolbar left on small devices (iPhone 5S/SE). Will put it on the list.

@Strizbiz: Any specific ideas to improve it? It's funny because there's also folks who say it's the "best keyboard on iOS", so I guess as with everything, YMMV :D

well its definitely personal preference, for me its one of the worst, Id rather have one that looks like an actual piano so I dont have to spend time trying to learn how to play chords I already know again on the onscreen keyboard in Xequence. I would say have an option to choose a regular onscreen keyboard too.

  • @Strizbiz: Have you tried setting the scale to "-"?

  • Thanks @SevenSystems, will also see if I can pin it down. I’m guessing I should be able to select notes in the velocity page too. That was difficult just now, until I reopened the app.

Also, if there is an audio metronome does that mean Audiobus is on the cards?

  • @Fitz: Audiobus MIDI support is planned. For the next release though, we'll concentrate on MIDI file import/export as there have been a lot of requests.
