Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place. I’ve dusted off your app to have another go. This time getting further than the last until hitting this particular bump:
My instruments only respond when the transport is stopped. But when it’s playing i get nothing. If i use the built in keyboard all works as expected. But I’m using Chordmaps2 and I have MIDI thru activated in the settings. I can audition just fine when the transport is stopped. But if it’s playing I either get nothing or some stuck notes.
I’m able to repeat this problem trying two different hosts. At first i figured it was BM3 but the same happens if I use AUM. I made sure the host midi out was disabled as to prevent a loop back to xequence. I also tried different buffer settings in the host. Thank you.
BTW when your app was newer you fixed another problem i had with Chordmaps2. Only one note of chords were being recorded.
I noticed the bug fix and i thank you for that.

Modstep is much less intuitive and found it harder to learn than bm3. Not sure if the v2 is out already and if it finally has an undo button, but the lack of undo button made using it a total pain in the ass. Every time you make a small mistake you need to dive menus.. I tried to love it, but just couldnt, no matter how cool it seemed on the surface. If you can get along with it, its a great sequencer.

Yes, I'm aware that multi-track MIDI recording seems to be a very sought-after feature... it surprised me a bit, because the main intention of Xequence's MIDI in was the ability to use external controllers like keyboards, faderboxes etc... I simply didn't expect so many people recording essentially entire songs via live MIDI between apps. That's fairly advanced!
Yes, this is by design... Xequence only recognizes those MIDI CCs that have been setup on an instrument. It's intended as a means to keep everything organized and tidy... but, maybe an "auto-add incoming CCs" feature would be in order. Hey, that's a good idea actually!

The FilePlayers in AUM also has their individual play-toggles that you can MIDI control. If the player has SYNC enabled, activating its play-toggle will make it start playing at the next sync quantum boundary.

I think the sophistication of iOS users is increasing as it develops as a platform. But it's a bit chicken and egg, isn't it? The devs don't see the need to add stuff they think people won't use, but people won't adopt the platform because the apps don't offer certain features. I think in five years we'll all look back at this and think, phew, glad that's over with. At least I hope so. It's just too damn convenient to have professional quality and features on a tablet.
Consider it requested, then! It would make my life much much easier and vastly improve the flexibility and usability of the app. And I think it would work the way people expect, frankly. Of course, those that haven't purchased the 12 MIDI CC IAP might whine about their "missing" CCs if they're recording more than four, but I'm sure you'll pull through somehow.
Ha! Videos definitely have their place, but should never be preferred over manuals. You can't search videos.

Absolutely. However, to be honest, prices have to "professionalize" on iOS as well then. At least judging from my sales figures here, it's currently very hard to make money with niche (read: music creation) apps on iOS. To be sure: I'm completely in agreement with your comment. It was more of a general philosophical remark
The same plugin costs 10 times as much on desktop as on iOS. That needs to change.

Wow. You are good. I was beginning to wonder if you’ve even had the time to read my PM only to just discover that you already posted an update YESTERDAY in the app store that resolved my problem. In ONE DAY you diagnozed and had a fix. That twice for me since buying the app when it first came out. Just left a good review and will be sure to continue to do so after everytime you update.
I’m really glad that i gave this app another chance. I’m finally beginning to click with it after a couple nights with it. The way you can hide unused CC lanes are so slick and i absolutely love how you can perform with a CC using the slider in the keyboard window. Buying the extra tracks was absolutely worth it.
Though it's definitely something I'm after, I'd wager that recording from multiple MIDI sources simultaneously remains a niche request in a niche market.
Recording any CC present at input on the other hand just seems like the right, honorable way to do things.
Most hardware and software sequencers I've used since the 80s work this way. Some have AT/poly pressure events filtered by default but that's a different sorta thing.
@syrupcore absolutely agree, that's why I just finished "Auto-add controllers", which will be in the next update
Multitrack Midi recording for me is crucial - especially these days as we can have so many apps interacting, and outputting such great midi - I want as much of it as I can to be on separate midi tracks for further development, refinement and completion of work.
One track at a time is way too limiting a way to write

I could use multi-track live recording on occasion, but it’s not what I bought Xequence for. Time signature and tempo tracks are critical for some music, but it’s rare on iOS. I’m new to the app, and I’m sure I’ll run across some things I’d like to see added.
It must be annoying for devs to have it implied that their app isn’t professional because it doesn’t do something it wasn’t designed to do. For 14 bucks, if it does really useful things well, it’s professional iOS.
No one is implying anything about the app being not professional.

I understand that different people have different needs and of course, the fact that a feature isn't needed by as many people doesn't imply that it is somehow less "important".
However, I also have to look at it from a financial point of view. Prices for iOS apps in general are already quite low (more on that in a different thread in a moment
), so we really have to focus on features that are most useful to the largest number of users (if "large" can even be said in this context!).
I'm sure the majority here would understand this.
