  • Yup well, Being a BM3 user, i never had any intention to buy BH till now. For the sequencing side of things Xequence has been the least painful for me thus far, in conjunction with AUM or BM3. But i don't feel like another learning curve investment. But if i only wish to sequence with it, then perhaps it's mostly straight forward? Beings that Johnny likes all things not overly complicated and all.

I may even end up re-installing BeatHawk just to have a 'sequencer' for AUv3 Plug-Ins in AUM :)

yeah, this just became my new sequencer for AUM, I bought Xequence a and the unlimited tracks IAP , but BeatHawk INSIDE of AUM as a sequencer already feels much more seamless to me, and Ive always liked the song mode arranger in BeatHawk. I always wished we could use audio units inside of BH but this is just as good if not better.

That's a fair assessment of my lack of skills, but I would counsel you that I did/do know the BH pretty well and have become fairly used to its idiosyncratic byways...

  • I doubt I'll use BH as an AU MIDI generator on my iPad because BM3 works for me. But for the iPhone? BH and AUM will do very nicely (along with Rozeta, of course).

Before my original post, I did think of about four other ways of reiterating my observation of your preference for the less congested apps, but one didn't sound any better than the other. Consider it a compliment if anything. I waste time with trying to execute my grandiose theoretical multi workhorse app workflow combinations, while you at least are fruitful in SOTMC.

  • As much as I want to use BH I can’t do it as it is in its current state. The step editor (piano roll) is super buggy. I don’t remember in which update it became buggy cause it has not always been like that. Please BH team fix that quickly cause BH is great.

Glad you mentioned this, because I was playing with it last night and it was buggy for me, too. I restarted my iPad, thinking it was an issue based on the update. Still buggy and I've found it to be pretty solid in the past.

Another consideration with BH vs Xequence as a sequencer for the iPhone is BH is a very large install even without a bunch of content packs. If all you need is MIDI sequencing and space is an issue, Xequence is a much smaller pill to swallow.

That said, I really, really like BeatHawk, as sometimes for me a pattern/loop based interface is somehow easier than linear sequencing when developing ideas. And I love that Grand Piano sound pack. It's superb.

Don’t forget BH’s powerful ‘song mode’..

  • Still hoping we'll some day see a light-weight piano-roll pattern-sqeucner AUv3 Midi Plug-in.

BH is gone from my iPad again. The metronome drove me nuts as it's 'off beat' when using it in AUM as AUv3 and sometimes the metronome sound turns into a buzzing wave when enabling record...

  • Sound module for me has worked great.

  • Cinematic percussion and world percussion can't be beat.

Oh man I thought I was doing something wrong here. Had the same problem.

Kinda punny when you put it that way. ;)

You're right about the BH piano. I use it as my goto in BM3, even though I splurged on their own internal etc. Not a patch (sic)....

  • I am using BH as an AU sound module in BM3. It has been working quite stable until now with typically 1-3 instances, depending probably on how large a memory footprint the sounds have.

Now, for the first time, BH is making this awful noise when loading even a single sound on a pad, and is also crashing. In BM3 I experience this behavior but when I load BH as an AU in Cubasis with the same sounds/instrument, it seems completely stable.

Anyone else having problems with BH in BM3?

I’ve been using it too. Had plenty of issues with it to be honest:

Not reloading the last kit saved.
Changing the sound of the kit chosen for keys mode.
Power spikes and crackles with just two instances and sometimes one when at times it’s fine.

Beathawk has been a problem in bm3 since the second update of bm3 for me. It has never crashed on me in any app except for bm3. besides GarageBand it has been the most stable app I’ve ever had. Just AudioCopy load to pad is broken for me in beathawk.

  • Canˋt even import my own samples anymore...

Audio unit broken here, it doesn’t load anymore in AUM and AB3. Already sent a mail to support, it’s on iPhone 7 Plus.

Also step editor glitches issue when navigating changing note lengths etc is fixed. Nice.

Has anybody tried on iPhone this update yet? Any issues like me to load AU?

I’ve just understood BH iaa was already able to do midi out. This works pretty good. But AU allow for project saving in AUM/AB/hosts projects. Has anybody tried several AU instances? How AUM manage different BH AU outputs?

From my experience beathawk performance on iphone is not as optimal as an IPad.....which is a bummer for me

For example, when I try playing Beathawk via other midi controllers like Sounprism, Chordpoly pad .. I get clicks and pops.. so would not be surprised if midi out is not as optimal, no such issues on IPAD

This has been fixed, I can even play instruments with Navichord or midiflow keyboard at 64 buffers without any audio clicks.
Midi step editor is perfect too, no more crazy movements while extending notes lengths.
Song mode had some issues with ghost notes, it has been fixed too.

New bug appears with last update with AU broken, but sure it will be fixed. Their support have answered me they’re at winter namm and will give answer a bit later.

iPhone version is really stable now. For those who have issues with AU metronome etc, IAA works perfectly with big screen, only thing that misses is AU saving. This is not that different than using Xequence for exemple. There are lot of IAA apps I use all the time like Loopy, Blocs wave, Figure, not such an issue. To me where I truly want AU is for Fx’s, prefer them for synths, for other apps I like IAA for full screen UI on iPhone.

For me, on iphone SE, there’s all kinds of trouble since the update. The whole layout is messed up plus can’t get it to open in AUM. Hope this will be fixed. Luckily the company seems to be on top of things in these situations

Edit: i got the low battery command during update and plugged the power cable in, could that have caused trouble maybe?

    looks like this ^

On my iPhone 6 I get the same thing and doesn't load in AUM, just gives me the still loading even if I try to load it first before going into AUM.

  • Same thing on my iPhone SE, and UVI are at NAMM this weekend. Looks like it’s either Gadget, Music Studio, and/or Sampletank this weekend.

  • I’m in touch with the developer...he’s actively working on the fix

  • here's my first attempt at using Beathawk's AUv3 MIDI out!

There seems to be a slight lag in the UI (i'm on in iPad Pro 2017) when trying to enter in notes. Hopefully they'll improve this in future updates.

Excellent news! They may be at NAMM, but UVI are still working hard for us. Now you no longer have to wonder why I buy their sample packs when they aren’t on sale. They deserve that money. :)

  • Nonsequitur, but Beathawk went free for three days last September. No harm done. Loving this app more all the time.
