Thanks @ChrisG
MIDI clock sync will be out only (SECTOR is master), at least to begin with. I know it might introduce some limitations in possible configurations with other apps, but getting clock sync slaving done right for audio-driven apps are quite hard, especially since I would like to continue keeping SECTOR's timing sample accurate.
And yes, the loops are sliced in equal sizes, so they need to be carefully produced from the start. Maybe some day this will change, but no promises.
Clock sync out =
I just want to mangle Sectors out with multi-effect units (like effectrix etc), and capture the madness on the other end!
Everything @chrisg said. My exact wish list. Though I'd replace the volume request (fun as it sounds) with section release/xfade.
Actually, maybe instead of two controls for volume, each of the current effects could be optionally mapped to volume?

It is! Thanks for that - cleared a lot up.
Only thing I'd ask for is a way for the slice point to always seek the silent point of the wave and avoid the high peaks and low troughs....so it would shift a knats bollock forwards or backwards....kinda similar to the nearest neighbour convolution that photoshop does.....so that we get 'pop free' slices.???
Appreciate that's a big ask and yes a smoother finish could make for a sterile sound.
And maybe some more warps...more bends/shifts,stutters.
trigger effects(maybe ones that are in the AB effects slot could be triggered from a slice point?)
Oh,...and maybe a pause button,so we can have yummy effects tails before dropping back into the mayhem:)
And again,thanks for this
Edit ....maybe not shift to a silent point but insert/replace peak/trough/pop with a silent/zero point??
Hope some of that made sense...bit early:)
Perhaps just the ability to rotate the loop slightly and a tiny fade out/in at the loop ends?
Also, it occurs to me that as a future feature you have an opportunity to set up MIDI CC values for each sector that could be used to control parameters in the AUFX apps.
That could work if the fades were at slice points, instead of loop ends,as its the slice points that are creating the pops.
And yes having control over effects from within sector would be good.
Rotating the loop slightly would move the slice points, but a brief volume dip or crossfade on the transitions would be another way to tackle it.
My initial thoughts were to have the ability to edit any chosen sector...so if say, there was only a 'pop' on sector 9 out of 16,you could go in and tweak that without effecting the rest of the wave.kinda how it can be done in BM2 chop lab...
Fantastic app. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of it and still having a blast.
One thing (I don't think this has been raised yet): I'm getting a loading issue in audiobus. If everything is closed and I run AB before I open Sector, when I try to open Sector from the AB input menu it isn't there.
If I open Sector outside of AB (while AB is still running) I am then able to select it inside AB. This is true whether I leave Sector running or close it after I have opened it. But if I close everything off and try and open Sector from the AB menu it's not there.
Did any of that make sense? :P I'm running an iPad 2 on iOS 7.0.4
Anyone using IAA with Cubasis?
I've been using this standalone mostly but just tried adding as an IAA instrument in Cubasis. I can't trigger start from Cubasis, so go to Sector to press play - it plays the loop until you go back to Cubasis, cue clicking noises and no background audio from Sector. Also the IAA transport in Sector shows very briefly then disappears.
??
Along with cross fade at slice points I wish the pitch didn't change when adjusting tempo. This is especially needed for melodic loops because to get the BPM you want could cause the loop to be out of tune.
Regarding slice points: One couldn't change the points by small amounts, since that would make one sector a tiny bit shorter and another longer, etc. resulting in loosing the rhythmic precision depending on which sectors are played or not. However, I'm thinking about making it possible to merge sectors. When it comes to the markov-chain MAP, merging sectors is exactly the same as just chaining sectors (as in the Default preset), but it would make a big difference for WRP.
I'll look into timestretching without changing pitch. It's hard to do in real-time and maintain audio quality, but perhaps it would make sense as a one time action in the menu: "Restore pitch". So one could adjust the BPM to your liking, and then restore the pitch to the original but keeping the tempo. It would then take a couple of seconds of processing, but would sound better than trying to do it in realtime!
Good idea.
Thanks Jonatan
Great idea about pitch shifting, Jonatan. Best of both worlds.
Pretty straight forward to understand. The warp section reminds me of some parts of devine machine vst. Seems to be a visual representation of how the particular slice is played.
Very cool app!
So...here's a question regarding the clicks. Is there any chance we could get a hp/lp cutoff? or maybe allow for creating some sort of warp function that affects the envelope of each sector? What I'm envisioning is a way to eliminate the millisecond that that click occurs.
@headphones: Yes, amplitude envelopes and anti-clicking micro-fades are on my TODO! Filters will come also in one way or the other, or in many ways, we'll see
Ok, anti-clicking implemented and done, works perfect!
That was quick.
we're so lucky to have this bearded wonder in ios music:)
@j_liljedahl that was fast! We all appreciate your dedication.
Question for j, would it be possible to program it to have say 4 tracks going simultaneously with their own sector orientations and controls, or would that be too many calculations going on at once?
Does anyone know what this price will be after intro price?!
Very cool interface, and a great concept. Very well thoguht out. But it's not for me. I've never seen or heard good use of glitch/stutter effect apps. But a fantastic interface. Congrats to the dev.

me neither. For dancefloor, for 'the young ones', it may be impressive and very useful. But I think it can be advantageous for other purposes too. Sound sampling technology taken to another level. This can be used in other creative ways with its quick, intuitive features. I think Sector could be a new futuristic tool to use sound sampling, especially if - after the IAA-input update - it can sample and then process real-time audio input.
Maybe not, but I think there's a big potential in this kind of app.
I'm not sure where to ask this or start a new thread, so I'll ask here:
What are some ways people are importing beats into Sector?
To get even "melodic" beats, I'm finding it's taking me quite a few step, with not always the desired results in each sector.
Can someone enlighten me how to improve or correct what I'm doing?
In Sector:
1. Set the tempo to 110 BPM, same as clip.
2. Set the number of sectors to the desired number of slices, in this case, 16- One for each beat.
3. Import sample from AudioShare.
4. To get the same sequence, CLR the MAP and CLR the SEQ, go through each sector (or listen) where WRPs occur, and remove, if desired.
5. Set SEQ to 16, if desired.
Even after this preprocessing, the steps sometimes aren't even.
What are others doing to get even length beats into the sectors? Is there a quick and dirty way to initialize everything (including warps)?
Thanks in advance!
Not sure what type of melodic beats you're talking about but if you are talking synth sounds you might have to use an arpeggiator to get the rhythms tight enough to be chopped up equally. Once you get it into Sector you can use the step sequencer to trigger which notes are actually played when. Make sure to get the tempo where you want it when you record your loop because if you change the BPM in Sector the pitch will change (until Jonatan adds the restore pitch function).
When the next Sector update hits with the micro fades to eliminate clicks it should easier to do melodic loops and you may not have to be so rhythmically precise to get clean slices.
I'm wondering how to get sectors to be silent in a stochastic way which would add some much needed space to the music. It's probably already there but I haven't found it yet.
I'm having a blast with Sector!
At one point i´d like to see a quick way to reset warps globally and per step.
Grouping several steps to adjust the warp would be nice also.
Load and save for the 3 modes independently would be great.
Subgroup outputs would be awesome. So some grouped steps could be further processed via Audiobus2 or in Cubasis / Auria.
The difference between Sector and other soundmanglers is the circle and i like it.
@yowza
Yes, I'm using an audio clip generated with an arp recorded into AudioShare, but the concept would be the same for any type of rhythmic beats. You really don't need to use the step sequencer - that overrides the markov events - but one can.
Basically, it's chopping the beats equally is the challenge.
Would be great to be able to do this with ease in AudioShare.
Thanks!

Very subjective as to whether it's a 'good' use or not
but loads of noodly electronica, breaks, electro, dubsteppy type stuff can have a fair amount of glitch. I was doing it manually 15 years ago... So this kind of app (and others) can be great timesavers for me.
Couple of examples of others' tracks
