  • At $4 it was too easy to buy. The time to research it first would have cost me more than $4 of my time :# :)

I’ll wait for Sir Doug’s vid. Probably won’t buy it, only because I’m not a massive fan of reverbs, and I’ve got a ton of them already. Never say never though.

I’m also put in mind of when I bought Fab Filters Pro-R, in a sale, and have yet to make it work on any of our tracks. Nothing wrong with the app, it’s clearly as fine as the other FF’s, but whenever we try...

So for now you are settling for Digital Lust instead ?

    Great album title. :)

  • My take is this is a Plate reverb, as EOS is also a Plate reverb.
But this, as mentioned above, is a vintage, digital Plate reverb.
I doubt it sounds anything like EOS despite both using Plate reverb algorithms.
This one seems suited to use as an insert on multiple tracks, being light on resource usage. EOS is much more demanding and probably better suited for buss reverb, at least on my device.

  • Keep em coming A.D
    Your my boy blue!

I had this years ago but sold it when I went to mixing on iPad (now back to mixing on computer), it's a cool reverb. Just be aware its not supposed to be a plate reverb exactly, it's meant to be a digital plate, so think more along the lines of lexicon,as was mentioned a little earlier in the thread. So kind of an 80's sounding thing (but that's not a bad thing, it's a good sounding verb).

This is one version of how gated reverb came about

  • Couple days ago I just purchased Kosmonaut and DDMF Envelope. EOS2 and now ADVerb2 are high on my list of effects (just below an EQ) on the To Buy list. I was going to get EOS2 first of those two, but now I'm going to flip that, especially given the price for a nice digital plate.

Envelope is a good one to use until you get EOS. I think it sounds really great.

Been playing with this about an hour and i gotta say that this thing sounds wonderful on moog. Especially with minimum room size, very short predelay and quite long reverb time and other settings based on synth patch. I think this will be my go to reverb for that, unless i want more hifi sound from envelope reverb app

Sounds good, look forward to seeing a demo. I’m massively impressed with Discord, I use it on everything, so Audio Damage is becoming a bit of a must-have.

  • This sounds very different from Eos2, and Eos is probably my favorite reverb-only AUv3 at the moment. ADverb is much brighter and less analog sounding. It's great - a nice complement to Eos. For those who aren't so hard-core, one or the other would do the trick, but they are different for sure.

  • I’m still waiting for Audio Damage to port over their RatShack Reverb for iOS (an emulation of the old Radio Shack/Realistic reverbs, which were essentially high-feedback slapback delays). Of course, I’m old-school when it comes to reverbs. :)

I’m really hoping they port over their Moog-inspired filter bank. It would be an interesting and unique thing to have as an AU. It seems like they’ve skipped over the iOS port, though, in their ongoing quest of updating all their plugins, but I’ll still hold out hope.

I’d like the Ratshack too, just depends on if they’re gonna give it the update treatment I guess.

I was let down with Eos based on the pedigree it had. Especially with the Superhall reverb...plate 1 is the only good option IMO.

I’ve never had a reverb quite like ADverb, so it does have the unique thing going for it. Sounds great on snares and on synth brass/pads.

Discord and Phosphor are absolute favs from them, and the two sound phenomenal when paired.

I called my RS Reverb "The Hell Box"😈
It was great for feedback loops.

  • I don’t have a reverb yet, should I get this?

  • edited April 2018

Yeah this reverb is fantastic on percussion. Really easy to start generating some movement, but also nice and tight when you don't want reverb bleeding all over your track. Another reason to pick it up is the more iOS units that Audio Damage moves, the more likely they are to keep dropping AUv3's on us. If you love your drum machines, this one is a must.

One trick with it is to go subtle on reverb time, size and especially the output mix and then try turning the plugin on and off to check the difference. In this way you aren't using it to sound like you are in a big space, but to simply enhance your drums to that they don't sound overly dry.

  • c' mon, you're not not deaf ;)
I listened to Doug's video of this thing and sat slack-jaw. This has no eighthies-vintage-dunnowhat but is plain crap luring with a Lexi-like surface design >:)

  • I think it must sound better than that demo shows. I’ll probably pick it up as it’s inexpensive enough.

It did to me. Not sure what happened with the demo though :#

  • I picked it up last night. Partly because I already have all there other apps and haven’t been disappointed. Also because it was inexpensive.

Very pleasantly surprised! Kinda more brash with interesting effects to be had by pushing it to extremes.

@Telefunky One thing I noticed right away in the soundtestroom video was Doug has his kick drum on the same track as his other percussion and just dropped a reverb preset on everything...

I always keep my kick drum separate and apply specific shaping to it, allowing it to sound pronounced. If you try applying Adverb2 to just a snare or hats or toms you can get a rich result, with a tight gate. I like to make electro and this thing is perfect for appying to a Casio drum pack. B)

Again, I think it shines for me as more of a subtle tool, instead of just a retroizer or a room widener. So I would drop this in ahead of something like Eos, where Eos would be the environment that the thickened drums would eventually live in. You may even want to put dubstation in between Adverb2 and Eos2. :p

  • Shure you can use it as a special effect, no problem.
But I've listened to enough reverb tails to state that this algorithm is really poor.
At least way off the association the screen suggests.

Classy reverbs of the mushy tail type like RMX or 224 still retain clarity and definition.
It would be way too demanding to expect a full emulation (let alone the price) here, but imho it's a bit too far off.
Considering EOS as a benchmark some 50% would have been fine. Just mho, though.

So a company that has ported some the most high quality, creative effects to iOS as AUv3's, who manufactures some of the most sought after Eurorack modules, and has been working on this stuff since 2002 decided just to release "plain crap."

So you hang out on the two threads on Audiobus and just start slamming an app you don't even own. I find that pretty immature, disrespectful and downright irritating.

  • if you flip back one page in this thread you'll notice that I gave them quite some credit in advance ;)
(considering EOS as a rough quality indication or at least motivation)
It's not about AD's other products, but about THIS specific app.

    Reverb algorithms are highly challenging.
The EOS core is an old job done by Shawn Costello of Valhalla DSP.
Rather humble in comparison to his later works - check the Valhalla Plate.
Bottomline: reverb obviously is not AD's premier domain. Nothing bad about that - noone's perfect, so please cool down.
I just comment what I hear, and I don't mind slamming something or someone if it's based on FACTS.

  • Audio Damage is on a roll! Have almost all of their plugs since the early days and having them on iOS is amazing and great fun!

ADverb has a few nice tricks at extreme settings

The big one I am waiting for is Tattoo - I love it on desktop, it is quicker than many beatboxes and yet quite deep

Aren’t all these things basically subjective at the end of the day?

I don’t even know how many iOS reverbs I have now. Some of them rarely get use. Some aren’t very different from each other to my ear. Some sound very unique.

ADverb2 falls into my unique category. I would use it on everything, but on the few things I’ve tried so far that were percussive, I liked the way it shaped the sound quite a bit.

I somewhat get the general algorithm claims of any particular plugin if you’re doing hardcore studio sound engineering. But as an effect on an iOS device, isn’t beauty in the ear of the listener?

Shure it is - as it's no problem my expectations haven't been met o:)

The "poor" fx tail of this app sounds wonderful on my moog and electric organ from 80s(and its drum machine). Nice compliment for eos and other verbs on the market when you are looking for that gritty 80s bit lofi reverb type of sound. That organ -> this app-> daw cassette = bliss
