  • Oh wow.. pricy. Maybe I will pick it up at 9.99 then

  • Sale was extended for an extra day due to AppStore issues I believe. Jump in while can at this great intro price.

  • Seems to be a bug recording automation from the onscreen controls in Cubasis. It gets recorded and shown in the automation lane but does not play back.

  • Hey guys,

    1.2.1 got delayed a little but it's finally out, here's what's included:

    • Tweaked iPhone UI and fixed non working / small controls
    • MPE: fixed an issue where playing overlapping keys would result in hanging notes
    • MPE: When playing in string or mono mode key now preserve their pitchbend when being retriggered due to note priority settings
    • Fixed an issue where it wouldn't be possible to play the same key/note more than one time (ie sliding away from a key, then playing that key again while the first note is being held)
    • Onscreen Keyboard: furter improved MPE compliance, channels are now allocated properly and keys can now track multiple touches
    • Fixed a crash related to modulating osc pitch while having the lfo set to key-sync
    • Fixed an issue where playing on the onscreen keys could generate hanging notes
    • Fixed an issue where new MIDI devices would default to channel 1 rather than OMNI
    • Fixed an issue where MPE -> AMP routings would cause hanging notes
    • Fixed Mod Wheel -> AMP routing
    • Fixed iOS9 crash
    • Fixed iPhone Export crash

1.3 will follow soon (hopefully next week) and add better preset management, iCloud presets and the much requested randomizer.

It really is a spectacularly sounding synth. There's a certain... not sure of the correct word, but it's sort of an organic precision... for lack of a better term. Multiple keyboard layers are fun too. :)

  • Loving this awesome sounding synth so warm and full of analog goodness!

  • Please consider another period of 50% off so more can participate in June sound design. My app budget is constrained and I missed the May sale.

  • Great. Now Volt is the "synth of the month" and we missed the 50% off sale. Offering a discount should be a condition of the synth selection to increase participation.

Why should the developer lose out on revenue just because y’all decided to choose this synth for a monthly battle. He already did a generous intro sale and worked hard to develop this app. Your app budget is constrained ? Are you for real? I’m surprised you’re not asking us to pay your gas bills too smh

    battle? orgy more like it.

  • Unbelievable. Kudos @ka010 for the bug fixes and free feature updates. What a bargain!

  • Why should the developer lose out on revenue just because y’all decided to choose this
    synth for a monthly battle.

The way the Forum works the topic indicated a 50% off sale. But it ended on May 16.

I wasn't even aware of Volt Sythn until it was selected for the monthly sound design project
but I'm new to the forum.

The developer will loose out on revenue. A sale based upon increased participation would generate additional revenue by incouraging more to hit "Purchase". With 30 App's on my "must buy list" I'm learning to wait for promotions to maximize purchasing power.

I just bought Auria Pro so I have plenty to keep me busy and I'll keep learning more about LayR (which I bought on sale during last month's sound project for 50% off).

Did you get it at 50%? Just curious.

Your argument probably has some merit. But he did do a generous intro discount. You can’t expect developers to do this all the time just because you have a list of 20 apps to buy though, even though as you say it may encourage more sales.

Not sure why this is relevant but yes I think I did get the discount but it’s worth full price. And then some. The developer is very talented and hard working. That’s why I got a bit tetchy. Apologies.

If you're like most of us here you'll pick it up sooner or later. Most apps tend to go on sale a few times a year. When I miss out on an intro sale price I just wait a few months and get it on the next sale. Maybe there'll be even more presets to download by then ...

  • The random option will easily push this synth into the $30 price tag for me. Kauldron's generator is simply what keeps me coming back to it so much even over Zeeon and Model D now. If they had randomizers one of them would be my top dog. It is just a battle of the randomizers for me.

  • I'm attempting to influence the developer to extend the discount as a benefit to the Forum for selecting his app this month. He'll see more revenue because "sales" work to drive more purchases. He could have a better month with a discount than without due to increased word of mouth and participation in the Sound Design project.

Most of the Apps I have purchased had 2 factors in their favor:
    1. a "buy now" discount.
    2. solid endorsements from this forum (or other trusted reviews)

Like I say I have Volt in a list with a ton of Apps. Beatmaker2 or is it 3 for example.
I'll knock off the Apps on my list as they are show to be "on sale" like this Thread indicates. In this case... it's false advertizing due to the way the Forum functions. Can a Subject text be edited? I'd be less frustrated if "50% off" led to a real discount. Esp when conversation around Volt will peak.

I mean dude these apps are pretty competitively priced on iOS for what they deliver. Maybe it’s just me but I believe developers should be recompensed for hard work.

And most of the people that voted for volt this month did so because they already have it, love it and want to share more presets. So I doubt it will spur that many additional sales.

  • It was worth a shot :^) I have a huge backlog of "technical debt" for the products I bought in May. I like the idea of following the Sound Design project every month so I'd like to negotiate a discount so more can play along. Maybe I'll catch up after a couple weeks of restraint from buying more Apps. But something will go on "sale" and I'll use the "saving money" argument to pull the trigger.

  • It’s totally worth it. It has a special sound to it and the UI is really intuitive. The lat stbyodate gave it a more tweaked, hard to explain, but more analogish type of warmth? Can’t pin point it but I like it. :)

  • Hi @ka010

Loving the app and just updated.

Just to let you know, I still spotted the following bugs on iPhone 6S plus:

    • bug with the BPM and Key button on the LFO - key just stays on and BPM won’t switch on
    • Visual bug with the right hand column of parameters that are assigned in the ‘pressure’ and ‘slide’ panels. The buttons don’t go orange to indicate they are on (they just go a very slightly different shade of grey!)
    • Maybe this is me, but when doing pitch bend by gliding your finger to the right or left has the effect of triggung the next key - even if Legato is set to be off.
  • I do like the sound of this app, but a bigger expandable AU gui wouldn’t go amiss. It feels a bit small on 12.9.

  • There’s also a bug with using the keyboard Latch. It can cause the UI to feeeze.

  • It crashes Auria Pro as soon as I launch it as an AU. Works fine in Stand-alone, of course. I haven't tried launching it in Cubasis yet

Just fixed the first two, hoping to ship a quick update tomorrow or the day after.
As for the bending thing, I suspect that's due to the glide sensitivity setting, if it's set to a fairly low value bending may be perceived as re-trigger. Can you crank up the sensitivity all the way, see if that makes a difference?

I am aware of this, it's unclear whether it's an issue with Volt or Auria tho, currently waiting to hear back from the guys at Auria.

Generally, the issue is related to the buffer size you set in Auria, which fails to communicate that to Volt choosing to disable it if the sizes don't match. So as a workaround, setting Auria to a buffer size of 256 or less should fix the issue.

    Hope that helps

  • Turn on latch and play up and down the onboard keyboard. It always eventually causes it to freeze. Latest iOS 11 on iPad 2017.

Thanks @ka010 - I’d be honoured to join the beta team :).

Your point about the glide sensitivity being set too long was exactly right. Turning it up works a treat! It’s really great now. You can slide from an E to and A and it seems to glide the the pitch perfectly and very accurately now. I’ve got my lovely big analoguey drone patch sounding fabulous now!

If you are doing work on the presets management next could I request that:

    A) you can ‘save’ your existing patch as well as the current ‘save as’ functionality where you have to save a new patch each time

B ) the last patch you were using loads as default when you relaunch the app

  • Thanks for the amp fixes. I love the playing surface on this, very flexible, the best on iOS.

Thanks for that! I was just passing the info along. I didn't expect a reply. It's great to hear from responsive developers!

  • So if anyone is still on the fence...

Here's a cinematic analogue droney sounding patch I made with VOLT. Played with lots of glide on the keyboard and making good use of the MPE ability to vary the sound of different notes simultaneously:
