I can confirm that on 1.2.8, link and sync works in AUM+spacecraft. Ableton running on Windows 10 PC, pretty amazing how seamless it is! I also got Maschine on my PC synced with AUM+spacecraft on the ipad, I'm new to this stuff so my mind is blown.

I'll need to try actually make some music with all this amazing tech at some point ;)

Also, my Mam is becoming an expert in granular synthesis. Mam, get an ipad and I'll put you on as a beta tester!

    Hello DeltaVaudio's Mum!!!!

There you go. I’ve already spent a fortune on apps the past few weeks and have been stupidly holding out but now I know your mum is giving you pointers I’ve finally bought your masterpiece.

  • My god, Jim! You’ve done it! B)
Just got back from outer space.
Man, can this Spacecraft fly or what!?!
    These new features...
    MY mind is blown!
    So freakin’ amazing.
    And incredibly fun.
    :)

  • Some different scales would make a big difference ;)

    Awesome @AudioGus :)

It occurred to me the other day that often Spacecraft isn't technically doing granular synthesis when the frequency is low like this. It's kind of just an odd sampler, but then you can morph in and out of granular world by going up to the top right.

I think this is exactly right. To me it's closer to Samplr than the granular apps we've seen on iOS.

Isn’t the only real difference between a “grain” and a “ sample” the length of time involved?
Like, samples are short, discernible audio events, but grains are like tiny sound particles?

Maybe the playback process is also considered?

  • @AudioGus Enjoyed that jam, thanks.

This thing has that instant record anything then play and be inspired thing.

It is granular, and I love all things granular, but when I play it I don’t think granular, I just play it.

    And a shout out to @deltaVaudio ‘s Mum. :)

  • hmm, file loading in AU seems to be extremely difficult. However, I've been checking out how two other granular apps I really like (Tardigrain and idensity) do this, and it seems that they rely on the standalone instance to copy the file and then it can be pasted when in the AU instance. If I can't find a way to do it otherwise I'll go for this approach, then that will only the leave the issue of loading files in standalone/IAA without iCloud Drive enabled--> audioshare SDK.

  • @AudioGus Dude. You rock. And you got that woman to be quiet. Lol. No really keep it up!

  • @deltaVaudio just be aware that the tardigrain approach in that field has recieved very mixed reviews. Obviously so whatever you have to do considering the limits of AU at the moment.

There's recently a new away to enable "documents in place" file loading which would help to grab files from the files app in different locations and keep them there without needing to copy (hopefully those apps will get it too, the dev of iDensity has just put it into apeMatrix, maybe send him a mail, Alessandro)

So I'm not sure how it works but it's definitely possible :)

  • @DCJ thanks for that feedback.

If any of you guys know of ANY AU that can load files from within a host using any other way, please let me know and I'll see if I can get inspiration. Personally I haven't found any so far...

Yes, BeatHawk AU can import with the Files app, but not sure if it's using "Documents in place" or if it copies it into the file space.

  • I’m not sure if it’s in the direction the developer wants to take it, but I think a great feature would be a position bank for each sample. You could recall X number of positions, by pad or sequencer.

  • This is a new feature when using as IAA (which allows full tempo sync and file loading). Takes you back to host! :)

I will convert it to monochrome with the colour of the sequencer to keep the overall colour scheme.

    Awesome! constantly delivering.

  • is it possible that both sample slots will allow you to edit and truncate loaded samples within the sample panes in a future update, and will it be possible to import samples from your iTunes music library?

  • @kobamoto I don't think I'd go that far as you can already just choose the range at the top. I'm not sure about the iTunes music library, will check.

My thinking was in standalone use, being able to make loops and truncate unwanted audio after trimming start/end points would help save storage space on your device.... anyways thanks for your consideration on the iTunes library import as I keep a great library of records I like to sample there.

  • @kobamoto when you load a sample into spacecraft it doesn't write anything to storage, it just temporarily gets loaded into ram (which is cleared when you kill the app), so you don't need to worry about storage.

  • I understand but I thought I read you were going to make files and folder structure later? I might have gotten it confused with another app?

Here's a demo of the sync feature in beta. It's unlisted....

I'll make it listed once it's released :)

That sounds like a modular setup from 0:55, very impressive sound quality.

The Layr AU from LivingMemory software shows the filepicker when importing and exporting presets and banks. It looks like the standard one and even depends on the AU window size.

Here are three screenshots using different AU window sizes in AUM:

I don‘t think they reimplemented an own variant of the filepicker as there is foreign language support and the file tags are also present.
