    Your granular synth is great because in integrated rhythm very effectively. I love putting samples in and not know what it’s going to created. I can’t wait to see where you take it next !

    I didn't experience any glitches at all, in fact I was puzzled as to how many grains could be active at the same time + the complexity of the interface + how fluid it is. There must've been some serious optimisation work done in the code for that one.

    I would suggest looking at how Geoshred deals with tuning (and they probably stole it from an earlier app). Instead of snapping into tune immediately as you approach the note, Geoshred more slowly pulls into tune as you get closer to the note circle. I believe the speed of that is even adjustable, although I've always found the default setting to be just right. And within the note's circle, you can still move your finger and play around with vibrato or microtuning. If you could put a target circle in the middle of your box and implement Geoshred's mechanisms, it would be a lot more musical than a double-tap snap-back.

    That encourages people to take a chance, but what sells the most is the way that SpaceCraft works, coupled with the potential as you further develop it.

    The recent Soup granular app, by comparison, looked interesting, but was not anywhere near as intuitive, or fun, and the dev has a set course which means much of what was suggested cannot be added.

    SpaceCraft, on the other hand, is limited only by the time you have available to put in to the project, and what development you find to be economically viable.

    @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr Geoshred looks amazing! I've spent a fortune on apps lately but I eventually need to get that one too. I'm quickly becoming an iOS music guy now.

    I like it. Like a quantised reset, so it happens in time with the grain speed/arp. That would be cool. :)

    In case any of you are interested, the release immediately after that will remove this 120s constraint on the file saving; this is high priority as it impacts the usability of the standalone app. That was in place as I was terrified of the app not starting if a user didn't have enough memory. The workaround is to give the option of the file saving duration in settings and a warning that if you choose more time than your memory can cash, SpaceCraft will shut down.

    I think your instincts on price were right on the money. It's easy for all of us who've already paid a low price to say we would've paid more, but many of us bought your excellent app without too much extra thought because the price was low enough to take a chance. Now, since you have a lot of units out there in the wild and an army of happy users singing it's praise... you're over the hump.

    Still think you could raise it a little though without much blowback. I'd at least go up a couple bucks with your next significant update. Sure, it's likely worth the $10 some are suggesting, but you might slow down the positive wave you're riding right now.

    Just armchair speculation though. But, I would think you'd want to continue growing user base for as long as you can and then maybe ease into the $10 range a bit later.

    Tardigrain is a cool granular synth that's also AU from a well known and respected developer. It's going for $4.99 now, but his apps tend to never move over that level for some reason. I'd likely put Spacecraft around that price point for continued user base growth. Going for a larger fan base will also have great value down the road when you're ready to release your next cool app.

    Again, just armchair speculation. The iOS sound app users base are a fickle group. No telling what shiny new app we'll collectively all flutter to next week. lol ;)

    The thing I like most about double tap is that is non-invasive to the interface.

    When all of the features are added, Spacecraft will look practically identical to what it was at launch. Even the settings screen will be mostly unchanged as most of the features you guys are asking for will be in an 3rd-layer Advanced settings pane (in progress).

  • @skiphunt I do really like tardigrain too, especially the way chords are used, really musical! This Audio Damage Quanta looks like it's going to be pretty epic too!

  • In case you're interested, some updates going through beta testing:
    v1.0.2

    • Allow user to increase recording duration for file save (1min 5mins 20mins); if user doesn't have enough memory app will close (will include a warning dialogue in a future version)
    • Renamed AU parameters to sensible intuitive names (renamed others to “___DoNotModify”, these will be completely removed in a future update)
    • If user tries to load/save a file in AU within host GUI, a dialogue appears saying that AU is not currently supported (previously it would just crash)
    • Double tap to return pitch/mod to centre (no point implementing this for the others)
    • When using as AU in either apeMatrix or AUM, if you double tap the title-bar to expand, you will see two sequencers on screen (before you had to scale the window manually to see two).
    • Fixed issue where some notes would stick when there was a single note (now if you switch off a note it stays off)
    • Fixed some params that were quantised when modulating via an AU host (GrainX for example)
    • Aesthetic: fixed graphics clipping in waveform in the top (range select) panel
    • change volume scale to be quadratic (lower volume at first then rapidly increasing) this help to create smooth volume increases when at low volume

    Also, good news: I've had some advice from JUCE devs that I think will be able to help me fix the file save/load when in AU quicker than I expected, I'll look into that at the weekend.

    Once AU is more usable, I'll move on to the thing that's most exciting: host tempo sync !

    Do you know if the next release will be an app update or a whole new app ? I'm trying to decide if I should buy it now or wait for the next release, so I only have it on my iPad one time and buy it once 🙂

  • Sync was already in the code and has been from the beginning, I just de-scoped it for launch to try to minimise complexity. It's really my favourite way to play this thing.
