    Haha...nice tip....as always, I work backwards so I been here done this! Actually went randomize crazy to begin exploring Egoist and it’s how I figured out how everything works. Now I begin with empty. Chop first. Sequence. Organize patterns. Finally, as you mentioned here...hit randomize in Effects then create by subtraction there!

    Right, you have to untangle some of the mess that the randomize button creates, but the happy accidents are so fun.

    I think SugarBytes may have the best randomizer implementation on iOS. The arrows allow you to shift the sequences to create so many different combinations on the fly. Save, hit random again, copy paste...new pattern repeat.lol I bet I will be messing with this thing for weeks and still find new wrinkles. This is literally one of the best examples of less is more I’ve ever seen..

    I think so if you manage to work it out if poss can you post some info - Iam trying to work out how I would create a Pattern triggering manually all within Egoist Maybe I have to tap on the waveform chops or the 16 buttons at bottom of screen become pads

    Agree with this thread totally. The only issue for me is getting samples into it. You seem to only be able to use iTunes cabled. Which is a bit of a hassle for me as I rarely use my desktop.

    I’ve pulled all my samples from Audioshare. Never once used a comp! Just click on the iTunes shared folder, then import. It will give you the option of either Audiopaste or Audioshare.

    This thread is totally responsible for me picking this up last night (well, plus the $19.99 sale; I recall being turned off by the $30 price tag or whatever it was on release). I'm really impressed by it. I actually don't think I fully understood what it was. I thought it was limited to sample chopping, which I didn't have any large interest in at the time, but it's actually a full groovebox/suite that you can use all together, or just break off a single component off (like the bass generator or beats) and use it just as an instrument for that.

    The individual components also have a lot more detail than first appears - there are a number of drum kits and bass presets, and the bass controls function nearly like a full-featured synth (you can apply filter cutoffs, change waveforms, alter ADSR, etc.). I thought it just spit back a sample library, but it's actually much more than that.

    For as awful as the U.I. is on other SugarBytes ports to iPad, I think the UI is the best part of the experience using Egoist on my iPad Pro 12.9". Most of the controls were plenty large enough, and for the level of content there, you spend most of your time working through one familiar dashboard. Pitch control for samples (along with countless other features) is refreshingly easy.

    I can see now why people would like this as an AU app, and it's likely heading in that direction with Cyclops just getting the AU treatment today. But it's totally functional as a standalone, and I'm hearing it's pretty adept at bouncing loops to other apps.

    Egoist is the crown jewel of Sugar Bytes, this coming from a guy who makes 'old-fashioned' guitar and synth music. But it's just so cool.

    I’m a big fan of randomisers, but i find this app works better starting from scratch. Sounds less like an Egoist track.

    Wasn’t very happy with my initial morning Egoist jam so here is a better one fresh off the train..

    (from scratch with no edits, it eventually finds it’s groove around 8:30, works it way into a part by 9:20 and then broken/munged to pulp in effectrix ;) )

    One nice thing with recording yourself working is you can more openly jam, review later, then retrace your steps and build off of what was working, see little potentials you missed while on the fly etc

    Well, you are correct that it finds itself at around the nine minute mark. Really fun groove at that point though!
