Predict totally separate ‘Electribe Sample’ being more likely than Sample Import being added to this? Would love to be proven wrong though and feel like Korg ‘care’.

Sample import would make this instabuy. But at same time I’d probably prefer a totally new ‘proper sampler’ version with actual sampling (still missing from gr16), timestrech, slicing, single cycle functionality, layering, dynamic voice stealing, separate outs etc..Could be badass built around the same overall GUI as Wave..

Wave seems to be targeted at a pretty specific crowd and looks good for that. And clearly a grab to cash in on the recent buzz for wavetable synths over past couple years. Hopefully Korg add some updates and also branch out with the same format, the overall workflow design for this looks great..

KORG don't like samplers, neither in-app sampling nor sample import. If you want to go beyond linear recording in Gadget, you have to buy one of three additional gadgets and then you still only have a very limited toy that cannot even sample.

In GR-16, I'd say the closest is sampling audio with TwistedWave or AudioShare, edit/process and open in GR-16.

Ok. Getting a little bit more familiar with the instrument and workflow on this track

  • How well does this work with the NanoKey studio?

I like it a lot. BUT I need to bring in my own cheesy vocals.

Yeah, if it’s a self-contained unit type of thing then importing your own sounds should be covered. Did you buy it?

I thought this was an easy pass for me, until it started getting weird at 1:30 and piqued my brains. Be interested to hear what the forum thinks of it...

Playing with it this morning I thought it was totally Monzo. Certainly can make weird and twisted and not just of the brostep variety. I think it has major legs.

Weird and twisted are my two middle names. I’ll keep an eye or three on this one. Saying that I’ve got Grooverider and iSpark and don’t get on with either, so a bit wary of the groovebox thing.

    Plus, £20...

I couldn’t get going the way I hoped with iSpark or Grooverider either- this is different though. For me it’s more of a case of trying to contain it somehow as opposed to trying to coax it. You are making crazy sounds one second then mellow sounds the next with very little effort- you don’t know how you got there- you don’t want to go back..... you don’t know where you are going next but you are compelled to keep going. You are discovering a rich pallete of sounds in rapid time to enjoy and choose from- all easily sequenced with automation options wherever you look along with effects..... and all the rest of it.
I would say that it is definitely worth the £20 from the point of view that if all my many apps were wiped out tomorrow- this would be one of the first I would be looking to buy again in the first instance.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah I can definitely see this is a pick it up and make some music app, as opposed to the other two which leave me scratching my head.

Like it, and would definitely enjoy playing with it for a bit, but I’ve got a load of apps that do similar things already, and the lack of sample import bugs me. It’s that old Korg thing of leaving important stuff out that they do.

Not tempted yet, but never say never.

It works really well. You''ll have to map the knobs and the effect portion of the kaoss pad. I've played the electribe with the key note track pad on the nanokey studio and it was pretty fun.

  • Here’s hoping they add more synth presets with a update.

  • And a title motion with the last piece

  • Those preset patterns :# I do like some of the crazy sounds the wavetable engine produces.

Well, finally had a chance to play with it a bit...and while it's not 100% understood, I did enjoy the process of building this up and hearing it come thru the headphones.

Will continue to push on it to see how it fits into my workflow. This looks like a great little app and I hope it grows and evolve as nicely as Gadget has over the years.

    Anyhoo...less talk...more playing :)

    @echoopera
    That's a very beautiful track

Nice piece, @echoopera . Completely different than what one would expect to come from an Electribe. BTW, what app are you using to make your visualizer?

  • Holy Crap. I have logged so many hours into this app. I can't believe how much time I have spent on a single music app. Once I got into the "motion" control tap/section I was able to take some I created that I was almost going to erase and made it so much better. The motion sequencing options are really unbelievable. I think I may have a complete track here soon.

That’s really lovely, a thousand times better than the preset demos I’ve heard.

  • @BiancaNeve said:

It’s not natively supported yet. Synths take up channels 1-8 and drums 10. Everything except the mute controls can be mapped which I sent w complaint over to the user group about. I’ve yet to test it out yet but I’ll make a control mapping for this and update the community here when ready,

  • Should be working well with nanokontrol studio. I'm waiting for it!

where are these clicks coming from?
sounds like there is no intelligent voice stealing

Yes, the envelopes are restarting without ramping down the last voice. I hope they fix this as you can create some nice ambient pad sounds. Very good sounding synth in this.

agreed, good for ambient pads and yes it has the dreaded the voice stealing pops not helped by the fact it only has 4 note polyphony per part. Saying that I understood this restriction before buying this cool app.

Edit: voice stealing issue seems to be resolved.

Love this; would love a whole album of this. In fact – and forgive me for saying this — it sounds a lot like some things I was making in Groovebox. Things that I ultimately had to abandon because of lack of automation.

    Totally sold. Thanks.

Korg specs say the drum parts are 8 notes polyphonic. But 5A/B and 6A/B share mute groups. Doesn’t that make it 6 notes? B)

One voice per drum part, 8 drum parts so 8 voices 🙂

I don’t have Wave yet. But don’t 5A/B (and 6A/B) mute each other?
That would mean it can only play six drum sounds simultaneously.

There are 8 drum parts and 8 drum mixer channels so you can have 8 drum sounds running at the same time 🙂

You’re ingnoring the mute group element.
Sure you can assign 8 drum parts in a pattern. But that doesn’t make the max polyphony 8. Not a big deal, but weird that Korg spec it like that.

Yep im not sure what you mean, it has a voice per drum part? Sorry.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yes the piece was all composed with Korg Electribe Wave. KEW KEW KEW!!

  • @echoopera you could make a donkey sound beautiful!

how much are you able to change the drum sounds? Or does you see this more as a non-drum synth?

This is my main question. I know no sample import, so are there some more understated 'classic' style kicks and snares that would be suitable for a more kraut-rockish vibe? Your track has almost sold me.

Hahahah. Glad you could hear the joy i had making the donkey sing. Just give the donkey some sugar and anything is possible.

Isn’t there a Mary Poppins song about that.
    <3
You can tweak them a bit. Nothing too crazy since you only have 1 fx send per drum channel.

  • To clarify! I’m not saying this app is a donkey... it’s a very nice looking app! Just saying that @echoopera is very talented
