Should iOS music app devs stop making so many synths and make instrument modeling apps instead?

    Human muscle action is a bit too complex to be modelled by a 'controller'.
    And (even in the 'simple' case of the piano) the actual 'sound in room' of the real thing beats all artificial approaches.
    That's not a problem at all - why would anyone expect to achieve the same as an experienced instrumentalist... just because he or she visited an app store and shelled a few (hundred) bucks ? ;)

    Pick up a real guitar and just listen to the variance of tone possible, regardless how sophisticated you play and of the instrument's price tag.
    As far as I'm concerned I appreciate 'real' acoustic sounds, as I appreciate synth stuff - it's 2 sides of the same coin.

    I find Kaivo a bit too unrealistic and metallic and very heavy on CPU. Sculpture does it a lot better to me with way less CPU usage.

    As it was offered in YT's side panel withe Kaivo clip...

    the core aspect is less the physical modelling, but playability (!) in the first place ;)

    The most interesting item of my synth arsenal is a device that allows to feedback the output (including fx) back into the synth engine's resonator section.
    (can be a slim and sometimes dangerously loud path) :smiley:

    Definitely true. I'm maybe only saying it because I'm surrounded by people use everything real, including synthesisers. I know that likely will make them snobs but I can certainly find value in it in some cases.

    Yep, good musicians absolute gems. I definitely consider myself lucky in that respect, not necessarily thinking of myself as one. ;)
