I love Beathawk, but, not for the app itself...
Love to use Beathawk and it’s great samples into Beatmaker 3...
Beatmaker 3 does everything Beathawk does, so, no need for Beathawk as an ”DAW"...
Rather buy new samplespacks to support Beathawk and UVI...
Bm3 is a great product and so is beathawk but I just prefer beathawk to make beats. That’s my thing. Need a little more depth and it will take bm3 off the table for me. Beathawk and GarageBand work for me. Beathawk is simplified and in front of you. Bm3 I have to remember where I was to get some where to do something. Bm3 is a full blown logic program but beathawk is for beats and I like that. Just a little more sample editing and as I said earlier add a au instrument slots to a couple pads and add a mixer (call it a daw) and that would be the sweet spot for me and my music making adventures. Love bm3 but sometimes it’s just redundant the hoops you have to jump thru to use it.
BeatHawk AU GUI issue on iPhone should be fixed in next update, this is the answer I’ve received today from UVI support : )
Have however some other issues with AU, on iPhone 7 Plus:
Anybody have AU crashes in AUM when loading several instances and going in song mode, or sometimes when leaving preferences page?
Also playing pads while recording in pattern mode is very laggy, hard to play fast notes.
Yeah, I never have more than 2 instances open in BM3. Just not worth the risk of crashing.
Digging up an old thread. Hadn’t realized beathawk had midi out along with step sequencer, patterns and a song mode. Realized how nice this might be in AUM. Got it going pretty easily and started sequencing a few synths with it. Need to mess with CC automation but this seems pretty stable. Looks like MIDI out was a bit unstable originally but they have had a bunch of fixes since then. Anyone else using it as an AU sequencer?
No because I find the piano roll remarkably finicky/bad (love it for the sounds however, best "real instrument" sounds I have on iOS.)
No, but I have used Photon to load up some Midi Files I had to play back.
Otherwise, I am waiting patiently for @blueveek to release his masterpiece, along with his other 2 midi AU apps that complement his amazing, soon to be released AU sequencer.
Have you checked to be sure quantize is off? The way they implemented it makes it feel like that. Rather than sounding the knots as you play it, then laying it down quantized, they don’t sound it until the next quantization step it will land on. This makes it unusable for me with quantization on.
I don’t have the issue anymore, and it was only with AU, not IAA. Even AU now works well with pads.
I find BH more and more reliable with latest updates, I think it’s a nice AU option for real-time midi recording with midi out control, you can even record CC. As fast and intuitive than Gadget.
But something dedicated to midi recording only should be even better And lighter.
@CracklePot Photon needs you to tap on a buffer button to play what you’ve recorded?
Audioveek pianoroll will allow for real-time recording or just edition?

For Photon, yes, you need to load to a Pad buffer. But it is great for playing back imported midi files that don’t need editing.
I have been trying to follow the AU Piano roll thread that talks about @blueveek ‘s app. It seems like it will do real-time recording and editing, too. Really, it seems like it is going to be pretty feature-packed. I am not a beta-tester for it, so I have to wait and see what it does on release. I think it is releasing pretty soon.
