Do you know about this Kontakt instrument group buy?

I would feel remiss if I didn't mention it at this point. I've been spending quite a bit of time with these hugely inventive and inspiring offerings and Andy's latest Drumscape is producing some very compelling and unique rhythms for me. Each instrument is capable of generating unexpected musical ideas in its own right. Never seen a better value. It has been extended so now is an amazing time to buy in since you'll get every instrument offered for $20. I have no interest in wether you do or not, just a huge respect for this person's creations and musical potential. Hate for you to miss out if you have a full version of Kontakt.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I got it. No idea how I will use it, but it seemed like a lot of value for the money. Which of the bonus items did you opt for? Not sure how this whole thing (HD Sounds / group buy) works as a first timer. Thanks.

Hi @scadet, I got Movement, AirTones, Fragment, AirWaves, Motion and Homegrown Complete 2010. However, I had a lot of them from the Augment group buy a year ago so your choices could be really different. There are so many gems in the previous group buy as well and I think some of them are offered up as bonus options.

Are these instruments available on first purchase. Or do we have to wait until all the slots are taken? Thanks
Sorry should have quoted please see below.

I'm pretty sure you can download them all now except for the last bonus credit. And the one he's working on now, Drumscape, is still in development but there is a beta.

By the way, the manuals are pretty good for answering most questions, and Andy is very responsive on a KVR thread here: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7384644
And there are also some videos on the product pages for each instrument at Homegrown Sounds

  • Yes it’s an excellent GB, this year, last year, year before....

  • Is there enough beyond last years buy to warrant purchasing again?

  • @Crawlingwind said:

In my opinion it is cause any one of the new instruments is worth it alone! All told, there are around 15 new instruments! Guess it boils down to how much time you have :)

  • @Crawlingwind said:

Absolutely, you can choose from quite an array of libraries and sounds, as well as the new content created for the group buy.

  • Also for anyone interested you can pick up the Nostalgia sound set for Sunrizer for free, from HGSounds as well.

Thanks for this. Circular's nice, but I'm more interested in some of the synths on this page: https://hgsounds.com/available-group-buy-selections/

There are 6 'Bonus Product Credit' options ticked - does that mean I could choose 6 products from the page above? I really like Augment, for example (https://hgsounds.com/product/augment-for-kontakt/) so being able to add 6 products from that page would definitely tempt me to buy.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious, just checking!

    Thanks.

I just bought it, and this is my first experience with the developer. So far I've just been messing around with the standard included instruments and have been extremely impressed. Continuity FM and Succession FM would have been worth it alone, but they're all amazing.

The products you get to pick for your 6 bonus items are on this page from what I can tell so far:

Hi, thanks for the reply - I can't access that page (group members only). Just wanted to check what's available as they say "You can select from a list of most available products from the site, only a few are excluded, mainly ones that were released in the last few months", and the one I'm most interested in is Augment for Kontakt, that's just lovely, and the Kosmology stuff.

Could you check for me, and see if all the stuff that's here: https://hgsounds.com/available-group-buy-selections/ are included on the group page: https://hgsounds.com/circular-group-buy-bonus-product-selection/

    Thanks :)

@MonzoPro Augment is available as a choice along with Kosmology (Classic if I remember is Massive), but you have 61 different products to choose from in total.

Augment was the Group Buy from last year but has been revisited so is also available this year too.

Sorry, can't really say now -- Just checked again and it no longer shows me the bonus products page since I spent all 6 credits. (only shows the ones I picked now)

I didn't pay much attention to the VSTs since I'm on a Mac and they're 32bit windows only, but the Kontakt libraries & instruments are top notch. My bonus selections were Cassetto, AirWaves, AirTones, - and three of the Kosmology libraries (Elementary, Evolution and Awakenings) ..

The only deal I've participated in that came close to the quality/value of this one was the entire Samples from Mars library for $30 or so a while back. I'd say you'll be more than happy with what you get for the money here.

A real bargain and no need to rush in using your tokens they’re valid for a time after the Group Buy ends.

Do you get licenses for Mac and Windows? I'm on 7, I'm guessing that's supported...

That's only an issue if you pick one of their VSTs from the bonus selection. They're windows only, 32 bit. (which means you'll have to use something like Jbridge wrapper if your host/daw only natively accepts 64 bit plugins)

Not really any licenses or registering involved, as you can immediately download and use everything after buying. Kontakt libraries are platform agnostic, just requiring Kontakt 5 or later on either Windows or Mac. They all worked as soon as I loaded them on my MacOS Mojave running Kontakt 6

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this find. I use Kontakt 6, and it’s a great base program for creators to build up on. I will be checking this out. I use Maschine MK3 for any and all percussion, so that’s the only reason I may not make the $20 investment.

I'm enjoying these - so far I've added Augment and Movement, but the default items are better than I expected: Tessellate, Circular and Synthetic for example are really good. Still loads to download and explore, but lots of fun to be had. @JohnnyGoodyear - you might want to take a look at these. Ridiculous amount of stuff for sixteen quid.

I have no idea what this is, what they are, who is selling them, nor indeed where their people summer, but I have of course purchased this thingie without delay.

Augment and Movement sound very doctory and perhaps bowel related. I do not see them on my list (Doctor), but I am setting my machine to download all sorts of stuff and presume that by morning I will either begin to start puzzling things out or my laptop and the room it lives in will have been stolen by electronic ruffians etc. All good. Thanks for the nudge. It's like buying a betting slip without the first idea of what animals are racing :) Fun.

I’m really impressed with these - I’ve bought a few third party things in the past and been underwhelmed, but there’s some useful kit in this lot. Normally I grab Reaktor based stuff.

These work with Kontakt, so after unzipping the files, click the load button in Kontakt and navigate to the new things ‘instruments’ folder and load the file (or you can drag it to the Kontakt window).

You can get the main items from your Downloads page, but if you click the link to add bonus items, you can add six to your account. I’ve added Augment and Movement, but also thinking of getting Airtones, Motion and Multiverse Classic today. That leaves one credit (until the final target is reached, and another added) which will probably be a Kosmology and eventually Fragment.

What surprised me, was the included bass and guitar stuff. They sounded messy in the demos, and as I play guitar and bass anyway I wasn’t even going to bother downloading them. Glad I did, as they’re capable of coming up with some really usable, interesting riffs.

  • Good morning/afternoon Mister @MonzoPro. Serious thanks for your tips as regards accessing this stuff. It does feel like a lucky bag, but without your direction I wouldn't have had a clue what to do. Things like 'drag it to the Kontakt window' are beyond my pay grade so far :) Maschine-wise I click about with whatever I can see in the main WIndow and haven't even bothered going into the GUI of any of the sounds themselves. I have been strictly presets so far...forgive me, but remember I have never worked with any other music software on the desktop (apart from a dabble with ACID a 1000 years ago)....

.....BUT that's what will make this departure educational as well as fun. The ONE thing that worries me is that having figured out that there's a world I can actually implement beyond the app store......could be expensive trouble :)

OK, off to have a click about. I will likely follow your lead as regards the 'bonus' items, as I don't know my arse from my elbow therein and I know you are a fussy bugger so probably good to follow ...Thanks again for getting me to take a few tentative steps off the safe little Apple island :)
