My outspoken dislike for some of ikmultimedia's marketing tactics got me blocked from their twitter a/c (hello IK!) ...but this is kinda feeling like an ambush here. :(

Yep, I have to chime in. I've been reading this thread for the last few hours. Man, it is hot! I have only ever owned 2 ik products and loved them but admittedly they were both hardware so didn't get anything popping up ;). Back to the main issue. I think some of the tactics may be straight wrong and can feel a lot of bad blood but from the outside it feels a little like an ambush (well said spooky). Unless of course the whole Ik multimedia team is on the other end instead of answering customer queries! lol

Anyhow I'm glad Ik dude stuck around to take all this, some stuff must somehow filter through. Peace.

And yes, thanks for the blueboard and irig audio!

  • I admit that was a good turnaround there, too, Bootsy. "Well played, sir" as they (whoever they are) say. And good leading in with a joke. No IAP for the in-app messaging but I did want to set expectations that it is only in one app now and will roll out to others later.

  • ...I will keep your joke away from the brass here too, in case the IAP idea ends up catching on ;-)

OK sorry for the third in a row again, but I will try to post some screenshots of the new in-app messaging system in action as soon as I can. I had some earlier but it was from a future version of a flagship app with some major feature changes that would not be suitable to disclose right now, but I can share them from the new app that's out now thankfully. Hang tight, it may be tomorrow though.

.......and I'm told then updates of other apps will roll it in to replace the popups.

That is good news. I will probably reinstall some when that happens.

  • Ahh thanks IK. See this is how we treat the customer, we compliment them! See now it's getting all warm n fuzzy in here. :)

  • It's already warm and I'm a bit fuzzy at the moment but thanks, I think! /I'll get me coat

Not jumping into the fray, just highlighting what was said in the customer's comment that you quoted. I thought it might be relevant. You seem to be in the dark about the non-technical issues I have with IK. It is in fact only one issue, you're not nice people. I hope that clarifies it for you.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think we're a group of quite nice people and I'm sorry if anything I've done or said (or anybody at IK, really) has offended you.

In light of this genuinely pleasant and unexpected gesture, I shall endeavour to not be as heavily critical of IK in future. Let's try to make it last... :)

  • Thanks for being responsive about pop-ups. I like IK's stuff but have deleted everything since finding ad-free alternatives. Hope to try again soon :)

So if ik is here i take the chance to ask, how can i use sampletank with my synthstation25 and my iphone4?

    i plug it in,

can play over the Screen but not over the hardware keyboard , i cant find any setting for ext. controllers...here the sound out of the Audio out of the synthstation25, but cant play?!...

    MENU/SETTINGS >

    PrgChangeCh OMNI

    Midi Controllers are ON

    BackgrAudio is ON

    Ver.1.7.2 (3L17) iphone 4 ios 7.1

How are you connecting the Synthstation25 to the iPhone and does it successfully control other apps?

  • Synthstation 25 support is being dropped all over the place. It isn't Core MIDI compliant because when it came out Apple had yet to introduce it to iOS. So, any developer that supports it has to maintain a separate (and apparently very-slow-to-update) AKAI SDK in their app.

MIDI Bridge still supports it. You can load that app and then point the SS25 at whatever you want.

  • thx syropcore for that!
    try midibridge....

  • Thanks for stepping in and getting that question answered! Great to see. While we're on a positive note here, I did post screenshots and some info about the new in-app messaging system in the EZ Voice most anti-announcement announcement thread ever at http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/4918/ez-voice-available-with-ab-support-new-in-app-messaging-system

  • Will we ever be able to add our own samples in Sampletank?

Hopefully! This is a request that has been sent over to the project manager.

  • Hi ikmultimedia,
When having Loopy playing anything in the background, and i change presets is Sampletank this results in a lot of crackles in the background audio.
I reported about this a long time ago. Is this still on the agenda to get fixed?
    Cheers

I do not know of this specific issue being a global one, so it would be best to ask support for a status on your issue.

EDIT: answered my own question and in case anyone else wondered: All packs are added except for the 'Sound Collections' category / packs (on separate Store tab/page) and 'The Grid' pack.

Can any Sampletank-ers (or @ikmultimedia) let me know what the "All Packs" IAP includes?

I first thought it was All additional IAP's but am second guessing that because of the IAP wording.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I don't have Wi-fi at home, only work, or Library. So, I don't get any popup ads at all at home. When I have Wi-fi on at work, I'm not sure if I get any popups on Sampletank? I turn the Wi-Fi off when I don''t need it.

I assume this is the time people are getting popups? Only with Wi-Fi?

For those interested, IKMultimedia helped me clearly describe my issue:

    Hi Miquel,
Yes, it's clearly a CPU overload. Using only Sampletank and Audiobus at
1024 frames does not result in crackles. Adding only Loopy to the output,
results in Loopy's playback being distorted while Sampletanks presets are
changed "on screen", even at 1024 frames, and while no tones being
    generated in Sampletank.

Even if 1024 frames would result in clear preset changes, it would still be
an unusable situation. I'm forced to use 256 frames, as Tonestack give some
trouble on 128 frames while having a big/long effect chain.
The latency in playing guitar at 256 frames is noticeable, but just doable
to take to a live situation.

When Tonestack, Amplitube, Jamup, bs-16i, Alchemy or Animoog, is triggered
to change a preset through MIDI (even when Tonestack has big/long/heavy
presets to change to) while Loopy is playing back, this does not results in
crackling sounds. I do notice Tonestack just takes a second longer to load
    a heavy preset.

My conclusion is that Sampletank does something weird while changing
presets, demanding too much resources and/or causing the CPU to overload.
If needed i can make a video of the issue.
    Cheers,
    Tom

    Their response:
    Hello Tom,
At this point, we do not have further information for you.
We'll certainly forward this information to our development team for further review.

  • So far I'm really liking Sampletank's sounds. I'm curious how others are controlling the app especially as the drums aren't mixable whatsoever: it seems like a very odd omission for an app that features sounds like drum kits would offer Zero ability to adjust even the volume of individual drums within a kit - but again I really like the sounds themselves.

With this in mind I'm thinking velocities could come from playing a controller (like iRig Pads or an MPK Mini) Or perhaps better yet via a dedicated MIDI sequencer like Koushion, B Step or the like. Ideally I'd love to control Sampletank with whatever MIDI Sequencer best emulates the step sequencer I wish Sampletank natively had.

SO: any recommendations for a hardware controller and also a MIDI sequencer for Sampletank?
