ok... cheated with two instruments
NanoStudio came out on 12/5/2018 I think. I’m sure it has a lot of fans but the wrong date of release. Next year Drambo might suffer the same PR issue for Top 10 props.
Just to clarify the choice of apps.
@[Deleted User] and @BlueGreenSpiral have rightly pointed out that it makes little sense that a ranking on the best app of 2019 also includes apps that came out in previous years.
But I also believe it is right to be able to name an app that we discovered, or that we finally understood how to use in 2019, and that impressed us with its quality or that, in any case, we had more fun using during this year.
But if you believe it is not correct, vote only for the apps that actually came out this year.
This re-cap of a year is a standard practice after New Years Eve In the world of publishing. Voting now prevents recognizing apps released in December like NS2 which was very well received and touted as a Top App after New Years.
I’ll vote then but read on for something overlooked in my buying sprees. So far I have bought them all (mostly) and used but a few regularly.
Poly2
Deatheye Compressor
IVcs3
Fractal Bits
Mirack
Koala.
Probably my favorite app to drop this year.
You have until December 31 to change your list, so any app that comes out during the month can arrive in the top 5 apps and fight for the title.
Is it? As long as I've lived these 'best of the year'/top 10 lists, by the 'official media' or otherwise, have all been done in early to mid-December and for sure pre-Christmas Eve. It seems like no one wants to look back on the previous year once the psychology of the calendar changing hits. People want to wrap up the year before it's over.
Hihi lets get the them rules down, maybe a little donation for the winner?

Well app should have been released in 2019. Thats it really.
Update choice is open to all apps as long as the update released in 2019.
Winner dev can have an account people could donate a dollar/euro or more if they like.

ToneBoosters Reverb ((for the Shimmer to set it apart from great Reverbs from Eventide, FF, etc)
3 Best update;
NAnoStudio 2 gets iPhone support
4 Best value for money;
ToneBooster FX releases
5 Most innovative app;
Mozaic the programmable MIDI effect with an army of developers taking requests for new use cases
ok... come on Jazz Drummer and @Blue_Mangoo’s Saturator/Amp Sim App. Make the Holidays bright for Santa.
Holy crap, I forgot to vote for Aphelian!
Maybe “favorite apps of the year “? It’s just too hard to say what’s the best especially not having bought some of the apps that came out this year yet. I still haven’t bought Acid yet, I’m sure it’s great, I just don’t know if I need another groove box.
Some of my favs are Lagrange, Blackhole, Toneboosters EQ, ZenBeats is a lot of fun even though idk if you can call it a new app since it’s just been kinda rebranded, BASSalicious 2, and did Digital D1 come out this year? If so I’d definitely would say it’s one of my 2019 apps.
Most used in 2019:
1. miRack (guys, check patchstorage.com for lots of fantastic VCV creations!)
2. Nanostudio 2 (next to Gadget following closely)
3. Ravenscroft 275
4. Discord 4 and Filterstation 2
5. Toneboosters, Eventide and JAF plugins
So nine apps in a new category 🤣
And I didn't even list the individual ones
Feel free to make of it what you like, I'm not a fan of such surveys given that the choice on iOS is already wide enough to satisfy a lot of different tastes.
That's my interpretation of the OP title as "the most preferred apps for me" anyway.
1 instrument: @burns_audio Spectrum Synth
2 fx: Eventide Blackhole
3 update: Nanostudio for iPhone
4 best value: miRack
5 most innovative: Mozaic
It always kills me when people can't make a single favorite selection. Don't worry if you've killed me, I'm just a schmo and I don't hate you or judge you for it...it's just an internet pet peeve.
I'll bet you $5 or an equivalent App Store gift that that isn't released until the new year. I think it's close, but it's not gonna make it this year.
Your interpretation is correct. Each of us votes for "his" best or favorite app. It is not the absolute value that counts (I personally, regarding certain apps, I would not even be able to judge it, given that I probably use them at 20/30% of their potential) but the value that each of us attributes to it. Often they coincide, but this is not always the case.
Above all, let's remember why we play with these apps, and why, in a small way, we vote for this so unimportant ranking: to have fun. Or try to have it...
Ah ok so not a competition at all then. Got it.
Surely there's a better way to do this. If this gains steam and there are 40 pages or so that could be a headache. Maybe look at how others do this like an editable poll or a website where this can be hosted.
I’m sure there is.
Absolutely or... just take things lightly
An editable poll would be great, but I really don’t know how to do that. If you know that, please go ahead.
3: tie between Memphis & Warszawa
2019 is not over yet and a few ne apps are still lurking around waiting for release
1 Best instrument; Shockwave
2 Best effect; Audio Damage suite (can't pick one...)
3 Best update; Xequence 2
4 Best value for money; AUM
5 Most innovative app; Poly 2
Actually, I’d like to modify my tie, so that Warszawa just edges into the lead. After all, it had two phenomenal updates, first, to become a Gadget, like iMS-20 -> Memphis did, but further, it recently became AU3 (whatever that is, apparently it’s important), so I think it deserves the edge.
