  • @kv331audio_bulent alright, I tried the ipad version and things are clearer for me now: I can trigger inertial scrolling just fine, and it mostly behaves the same as regular iOS scrolling, maybe with a bit of choppiness in the animation (which I don't have with non-inertial scrolling), but without real issues. If I want to stop this inertial scrolling, on the other hand, I have to tap it or hold it, without moving my finger, whereas regular iOS inertial scrolling can be "grabbed" by sliding a finger. Now that I understand the difference I can work around it, so it's not a blocker at all for me :)

I Just tried exporting a preset from preset browser cog wheel menu to Google Drive through Files. SM1 crashed. I tried again and it did not crash but the file is not getting uploaded to GD

Working for me going to iCloud and Dropbox. Would be nice to be able to export a single file or a selection of files. That would avoid having a bunch of duplicates.

It did not work with Google Drive (crashed a couple of times while exporting). Even when it did not crash, it did not upload files to selected folder in GD.

Just tested Dropbox export and that works.

@kv331audio_bulent , under Favorites, the export and a few other options are missing when there is only one preset in the fav bank. Export option and a few other options are also getting hidden when filtered by Author, etc. in some banks. under what circumstances do these options get hidden?

So it's working on some systems. On mine, the reported behaviour occurs with almost 100% consistency, with minor variation in exact finger placement and pressure to be expected.

So far you're the only user reporting this issue (touches not working with knobs/sliders). So far we have at least 100 users testing on iPhone/iPad. I'll try to reproduce if I can...

It seems in 1.3b2 that if part of my finger is outside the touch area, the control does not respond. Have you shrunk the touch area for controls in the new beta? That would explain the change in behaviour from 1.2 to 1.3b2.

I too felt the hit area is reduced a bit in beta.

  • So i redownloaded the regular Synthmaster One on ipad to buy the desktop 1250 presets. Will they still transfer to the universal SM One?

  • When does the sale end?

How will I buy the full 1250 presets packages before the sale ends if I’m using the beta?

    Good question

  • Anyone? Where is the IAP store inside SM1 non beta?

  • Never mind just figured it out. SM1 beta will let everyone test app and IAP and once released IAP will be available for purchase for $9.99. No wonder no IAP store available in regular SM1.

There is no discount for the IAP, it's regular price is $9.99. So once we release officially, you can buy it. (OR if you have SynthMaster One desktop already, it's free for you -> Complete registration with your desktop serial number and you're done)

    You CAN already export

    1. a single file (when the preset is loaded, hit the save button)
    2. multiple files (selected on the browser)

No I did not, just the opposite: I increased the touch detection area for knobs and sliders.

Export menu is only visible for presets saved under your local presets folder (I might be checking the author name as well. Will double check this condition)

I just tested every single knob and slider available in the app. I have no issues with touch response in 1.3b2, they all function as expected as far as I can tell. I am on iPad 2018 iPadOS 13.3.

Just wanted to mention I am also very happy about the new stuff from Luke Neptune. For me, it adds a more analogue dimension than before to the app, very nice!

    👊

  • There's definitely an issue with listbox/menu/treeview taps, which I'm fixing today.

That's odd... it doesn't explain why the GUI behaviour seems to suggest the opposite, as it is definitely more difficult to find the hit area in the new beta. I've tried nearly every screen control in both versions with the same result.

There's a 100 milliseconds threshold to activate parameter change for knobs/sliders. That's to prevent value change when user swipes left/right to switch the current page (on iPhones)

When you press on a knob/slider, do you see the parameter name/value on the top header ?

That’s what it is ... I’m used to controls being instantly responsive. It seems that if my finger is moving when it touches the hit area i.e. already begun to swipe when it touches the screen, the control does not register the press. I had to lift my finger and try again.

The 100ms seems on paper like no time at all but it is long enough to feel like an interruption to smooth operation in the flow of a creative moment. But maybe that’s down to how I’m used to working, with instant responsiveness from GUIs. Is it possible to shorten this to 50ms?

If you have to detect multiple gestures (tap, long press, swipe from parent container) then there should be some limits like this. I will test with 50 ms, but then how will the control detect taps to display the context menu (to add/remove modulations, midi learn, etc)...

I’m having an issue when loading presets I made in the previous public build.

They load fine from the browser and can be played but when I press ‘Browse’ to go back to the synth to edit the sound, the app immediately crashes. This has happened with both beta builds.

If the preset is saved as a new version with a new name and that version is loaded from the browser, you can go back to the synth page with no issues, so the presets can be salvaged. Might be a hassle if you’ve loads of custom presets.

    Anyone else seeing this happen?

Also: Cloud sync between the iOS and desktop versions is working great. Incredibly useful!

  • “Files App integration: Users can now import/export presets, waveforms and scales using the Files app browser interface introduced with iOS 11.“

    Cool!

So presumably I can load in Serum-type wavetables from the internet into SynthMaster One on my iPhone now and make presets from these to use in the AU in NS2?

    That would be excellent.

@kv331audio_bulent Thanks for clarifying. There are so many beautiful presets I will definitely be purchasing. Thank-you and your team for this top shelf app, absolutely delightful.

That IS already possible :) Please watch the video starting at 10:30. We support wav/aiff files with sample lengths multiples of 2048 (2048 is our single cycle waveform length)

Do these changes meet @brice 's needs to continue work on his preset libraries?

Thanks. I know it was possible on an iPad. But couldn’t see a way to import on iPhone.

  • Is anyone else seeing this? When I import a waveform or wavetable it will not load into Osc 1. It will load into Osc 1 Sub, Osc 2, Osc 2 Sub and into LFO’s. I’ve tried a few different things and it’s only Osc 1 which does this. I’ve reported it but curious to see if anyone else sees it. User waveforms and wavetables are a very powerful feature of SM1.

Now it's possible with the import waveforms menu:

  • I know you probably don’t want to support this but I installed SM1 in my iPhone 5s and it sounds great but the main window is chopped off on the right side so you can’t edit or easily get to controls and has black borders on both sides. I realize you might not want to support or fix this but thought I’d throw it out there.
