Opening any sound from AL within GB. Play for a while. Then no sound. That’s it.
Have you tried a different host?
apeMatrix, AUM, Nanostudio 2, Beatmaker 3, Cubasis 2, Audio Evolution?
What is your price range? Getting something used, like you said, is great for something with more storage but the brand new iPad 10.2" is $329 and will handle everything you're describing with ease.
Why would it handle those tasks with ease, since my iPhone 7 Plus has the same specs and won’t?
No, I haven’t. Not sure I could buy any of them just for testing.
However, I still am looking for an iPad that will handle these tasks better. I guess I’ll be looking for a new iPad Pro since they are the only ones better than my iPhone in any serious regard.
Btw, and I have no idea if it is relevant to this use-case, but a wise soul who understands more about how these devices work explained to me that comparing the raw specs of iPhones and iPads does not always tell the whole story because there are differences in how battery-use optimization impacts performance -- phones being more optimized for battery life than tablets. So, it is possible that an iPad might perform differently.
So, with AudioLayer even if there is just one instance loaded as AU stops playing regardless of what else is going on?
Interesting. Well, I have no idea. Sadly this can’t easily be tested. I’d have to borrow someone else’s iPad to get an idea.
Right now, yes. Got 20 gigs free space and it’s a 128GB unit.
Contact @VirSyn and see if you can get on the beta to see if it behaves differently. I've never had a problem like you describe with the beta or non-beta, but I don't use GarageBand much.
Because it can run apps that iPhone doesn't have access to. E.g. Beatmaker 3
I personally think that the iPad Air is the best low end tablet. But at the same time, I recommend the 6th and 7th Gen because of their pricing with value. The mini is great if you're looking for a small form factor.
Of course, if you have the money, you can get the pro. I personally don't find it as appealing despite the improved display and USB C because of needing to change IO's because my iPhone charger won't work, and price. I mean, if I can buy the 12 in pro with 256gb and pencil with the necessary cables, I'm better off getting a Surface laptop, with a cheaper iPad 6th or 7th gen.
I'm waiting to see where Apple takes the (possibly new ) iPad pro. But for now, aside for the faster chip, better pencil, reverse wireless charging, and improved camera, I'm not sure how they can take it to the next level of Pro.
That doesn’t explain why it would handle the tasks better than my iPhone.
Send me your GB project and I'll see what's up.
Thank you so much offering, but sadly I can’t because the samples are not mine to share.
