  • WORP is another that has not been updated in a while, it's a powerful synth where you could get some nice sounds.

  • Iterator. Good app but not holding out any hope

  • Banjo Companion. Seriously. I'd use it all the time if it had AB and I could synch the speed of the rolls to a drum beat or tempo or MIDI clock.... I actually asked the developer months ago but nothing yet. :-(

The dev has said that because of the way it was written way back then, an update is not viable. I think the details were on his website. Pity, because it's one of a kind

Not in so many words, but a similar line of thought crossed my mind recently. I would gladly pay something more than a token for an update for every app I use. In fact, it seems bonkers to me that it doesn't already work that way.

    Shhhh......

Ios apps are comparibly cheap to their pc/mac counterparts, its part of the allure. If some of these apps start charging for updates (outside of major rewrites), that comparion stops leaning towards ios in some cases. It's a maturing market that will change rapidly with the hardware.

Charging for updates, bad business, charging for version changes (real version changes that is) is acceptable (imho). Im happy to support a gie/gal who does good work!

  • iOS apps are even cheaper when you con developers for free codes...

    Spoken like a true troll.^

  • MegaCurtis, Curtis, Donut and other The Stange Agency apps :-(

These, and CS Grain, are some of the ones that frustrate me and hurt the most. Especially since the Strange Agency developer seemed very enthusiastic about the iOS platform at the start.

    haha awesome

I still keep that on my ipad for a laugh from time to time.

  • @Calcutta , you really need the Andrew Dice Clay app so that every time you say somthing ignorant (happens alot) I can tell you to go press the button.

  • Twisted Wave!! Ugh, how could I have forgotten.... :(

Yup. Definitely on the regret list.

Add "Yamaha Synth Arp & Drum Pad" and you get two big companies doing nothing on their apps.

But what constitutes a 'real' version change? If customers want and get, say, MIDI Out in an app, I don't know that this constitutes a version change (maybe it should have been there in the first place, especially if users are asking for it in the app's context); given the typical low cost for apps, who can begrudge paying a little something for an update? Especially if the dev has a day job... as such a dev I would welcome more $$$, especially with users getting the music tools they desire out of it.

  • @Brain Good points, i actually agree with them. Ongoing support is important. My vantage is from a consumers stand point. Version change, from v1 to v2 (reading what changed carefully) is a new product and the consumer determines if the new purchase is worth it. On the desktop, I am able to upgrade with a discount since I bought last version, i don't think thats even possible on ios. Maintenance updates from v1 to v1.01 for example should NEVER be charged for (imho). For the midi-out question, I'm a fan of the reasonably priced IAP, programs a la carte.

  • OP: Jasuto was not abandoned either. Updated a couple of months into this year.

    Gruvtron. Sob.

Anybody who know what's happening with both Grüvtron and Loopstastic (same company)?

I really dig Grüvtron with all of its simplicity... Nice groovie app!

What's really strange is that Grüvtron doesn't show up in my Purchased list in Appstore. Other Apps that has disappeared is there, but not Grüvtron (checked both iPhone and iPad purchases...

As it appears, the company behind Grüvtron and Loopstatic (and a few other apps) is owned by Native Instruments now (Sound Trends LLC)...

As an reminder; backup your favorite apps, you never know when they disappear forever!
    Sad...

  • I think we can add the semi-classic 'Epic Synth' to the list...

Last time I had a chat with the dev he was working on a new synth app and had no intention of adding features to Epic Synth. The architecture is as close to Juno-60 we'll get but the sound isn't anywhere near when comparing to the amazing TAL-U-NO-LX-V2!

  • I keep my Grüvtron ipa safely...Nice and fun, specially for arps.

To me, "abandoned apps" always reminds me the same: AKAI Synthstation.

Does your Grüvtron show up in the Purchase list in Appstore?

Can't remind that no other app that is abandon is not shown in the list...
    Strange...

It's a shame they never made a 64 bit sdk for the synthstation but a little MidiBridge Magic keeps it rolling along on

    Strange...

No. Some apps smell like...you know, so I save the ipa file of them.

    Add miniDrumPRO:

    http://appshopper.com/music/minidrum-pro

Physynth is another one. I remember it wasn't in Spanish store, so I wrote to Apple and a couple of weeks later I was able tu purchase it. Funny little app with a H.R. Giger layout .

  • I can understand Apple stopping the purchase of uncared for apps, but to stop you downloading apps you previously purchased, pure Apple.
