@Krupa @rs2000 @AllTheMachines : very interested to see if anyone can indeed pull off a Drambo emulation. Or if @AllTheMachines has any more tricks up his sleeve for the original.

I absolutely love using Skiid to provide ominous random percussion hits over the top of something more structured using it’s sequencer, but... it’s not actually random! The repetition of the one short sequence gets old quick. Which means then that at the moment I have to use something like MIDILFOs s&h or Perforator to unpredictably gate the output inside AUM. The thing that would really make Skiid (or a Drambo clone thereof) absolutely sing for me (echoing @Krupa, I think?) would be a quick scale constrained Riffer style ‘infinite Pattern’ or Octachron style Probability option which didn’t change the actual sounds generated on each step (I use the ‘Chaos’ dice to set up an initial pattern, then Individually switch off or edit any hits which don’t suit the mood), but endlessly varied the probability of the remaining steps I do like the sound of occurring thereafter. I’m going to try using either Riffer or Octachron to do it to Skiid externally, but having it in-app (or in-clone :) ) would be one less step to have to take.

I think this is the one that there’s mozaic syntax for, half price at the moment, to be honest I don’t mind the in app editor, I think that a physical keyboard would be more useful to me too be honest, unless this one folds up or jumps to functions...

  • Actually looking at @_ki video here

looks like you can jump to defined sections of code, and with the other benefits textastic and the support @_ki has made for it, £4.99 seems like a no brainer for anyone messing about with mozaic...

@Poppadocrock Definitely. Kaspar seems to have been grossly overlooked. There’s incredible potential for all manner of amazing and exotic things yet to be coaxed out of it.

Don’t be intimidated by it. Work on one layer at a time. You can mute layers to focus on each one at first then bring others back in to blend and mix together better. In many cases I find three OSC per layer is a bit too much and only two OSC on a layer are needed just to fatten that particular sound with identical OSC settings but with the second slightly detuned, or perhaps with one an octave above/below the other. Don’t try to do too much on one layer...you have up to eight which is really more than enough!

Also, they put that EQ fx in there for a good reason! Make use of it! An essential unit to have in one of the fx sends for every patch, imho. When you have so many OSC and layers running together, you’ll find a lot of frequencies inevitably start overlapping and stacking up and muddying the sound, so find them and tame them with that EQ! Test the patch across the width of the keyboard. It becomes like mixing/EQing a music track, in fact!

With something that offers so many layers and scope for creating something complex and evolving, it’s hard to know where to start. I find you really need to already have a plan in mind for a patch design before you start, otherwise you just get lost tweaking randomly and not getting anywhere. You need an idea of structure already to focus on and build each layer one at a time towards your goal. Sometimes I even write or sketch an idea out on paper first with a timeline. Then you have something to follow and work on.

I love Kaspar’s ability to copy/paste layers. It saves so much time not having to repeat a whole process of settings. You might find a good pad sound on one layer, then simply copy it onto another layer and not have to tweak so much of the basic elements to produce a complimentary variation for depth and thickness.

With each layer being a totally complete and independant synth, you can build expansive patches with some layers producing a smooth evolving pad accompanied by other layers playing arps! It’s endless, really.

    Now...off you go! 🤞😉

I feel like I owe you money after reading that with how much I just learned

  • Yeah Kaspar's a good one, still hope it'll get an update for AU parameters and a full screen scaling gui.

  • There’s a big thread, but... Korg Module updated AUv3 and 50% off sale.

  • @WillieNegus, if you don’t have Ravenscroft, American D is excellent. Choirs a must. KApro orchestra has a great cello, but the rest is no better than PSP, ISymphonic or BeatHawk acoustics, IMO. Nix on the Ivory piano.

Also a Moog Bundle I never noticed before...

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app-bundle/moog-synthesizer-bundle-2-ipad/id1366556062

If you have 1 or 2 already it’s a great deal...

..Just noticed this on the appstore list of Top Paid Apps today. Had never seen it.

So i own all four of the Moog apps in the bundle and the 'Complete My Bundle' price (after scrolling down to the bottom to refresh) is $20.02 and next to it it says In-App Purchases. Im guessing that's the price for all the preset packs in Model D and Model 15 ?

Or is it just a weird price because i might have purchased one of the apps at a discount?

I yield to your experience and ears with all things piano related. How do you feel about the Ivory expansions? I’ve skipped the EP sounds as PureSynth and NeoSoul have me covered there. Triton sounded wimpy to me. The Choirs, new Hybrid, Mello and Dream Synth expansions sound very interesting. What say you Mike?

Module now offers a free 7-day trial for all IAPs (in case you didn’t know).

That has never seemed fair to me. When actually importing physical goods there are Customs duties and VAT to offset, which often makes the pricing seem considerably higher, but when we are talking about software there is none of that, so the price should be a simple current exchange rate of Pounds Sterling or Euros to the US Dollar. As you say, that is not the case, but the question is how it would be possible to get Apple to remedy the situation?

No worries. I do not think they do, not a bass only amp, but several of their apps could be used. They also have the bass EQ rack effect.

  • Not a music app but could definitely help with sampling from videos, screen recordings, YouTube, etc. it takes a video and chops it into specific time designated segments. So for instance if you recorded 1min of you tube to sample, put it in this app you could get 6, 10 second videos saved to camera roll, making the video, thus the audio, easier to sample from.
