A super fast example of the range of sounds using FingerFiddle. Pizzicato is also possible. And if you are adept with your note playing fingers, vibrato.

  • Another cool thing about FingerFiddle is you can play string combinations which would not be possible on a real instrument. You can play all 4 strings at the same time!

That already sounds better to me than SWAM. And, as you say, polyphonic. Alas, no midi.

  • Here’s a version with some distorted cello added. ;)

Think of FingerFiddle as a serious instrument which must be learned and performed. The sensitivity and unforgiving nature of the instrument is its strength. :) I love it.

Sharing this because I didn’t see much posts on it. Video LUTs is free. If you’re a Luma Fusion user looking for LUTs, you gotta get this - https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/video-lut-editor/id1170270352

Great - thanks for the tip off! (@NimboStratus - just got it for free here in the UK).

  • Hello. I downloaded this and it looks great- thank you for the heads up. Can I ask how do you use it with LUmaFusion. Do you export from LF into this as post production?

    Thanks man.. looks great

  • How it ArpBud 2 compares if I already have the arpeggiator included in the Rozeta Sequencer Suite?

It can achieve different things, or it will be a bit redundant?

    Hey @JackRubinacci ,

Awesome, glad you got it. I mainly use the app for colour grading, then send the graded version into Luma Fusion. You can do an A/B comparison directly in the app, or put Luma Fusion in slideover view.

For those who are unfamiliar, think of LUTs as presets for videos. They allow you to play around with the picture to adjust a ton of things. From simple edits like the colour balance, to making a regular picture or video shot in the early morning look like a sunset cinematic.

You should also be able to import Davinci LUTs as well. I had the iPhone version and it works for importing LUTs so it may either be my iPad, or might be a recent bug.

To import, I usually download the LUTs into my iPad, then “Share” them into the application.

Not sure feature wise but there’s another thread about midi timing and Rozeta is rock solid but the Bud apps need a fix.

Is the Swam Solo string Bundle worth it for someone who has Beathwawk(Doublebass and string/orchestra iaps) and Ns2( Acoustic 1/2 iaps)?
I also just would use them with kb-1/velocity keyboard. Or would it be a waste of money in that case?

im mostly interested in the Cello and double bass but would take the others as a bonus in the bundle.

BeatHawk Strings sound pack can't compare with SWAM solo strings.
BeatHawk Strings is for ensemble and is very good for that whereas SWAM is for soloing. But I guess you already know that.

Regarding string solo, I still think Finger Fiddle is unbeatable. This is the virtual instrument in the world that come the closest to a real cello/violin, thanks not only to its excellent sound engine but also its natural playing surface. Almost everything is thought to react like a real cello. You can do tremolos the way you want, attack notes the way you want, pizzicato, etc. all this without having to switch to another "playing mode".

Now for SWAM, don't get me wrong. They are excellent and offer a full integration as AUv3 into a DAW. I bought the bundle and, thanks to the power of my new iPad M1 and a dedicated Streambyter script, I managed to create a full chamber orchestra (3 instruments per sections) and it sound incredibly good

+4 on FingerFiddle. It is amazing. You definitely have to learn how to perform it. But really takes advantage of 3D Touch and the playing surface compared to others.

Having played a real violin for years, I agree FingerFiddle is the real deal. It is awkward to coordinate the correct finger positions on the virtual neck, but if you can approach some level of mastery of the app, it blows away anything you can get out of SWAM. I’m surprised that particular developer hasn’t done more with his instrument modeling expertise.

Yes, the dev Matthias Demoucron has intensively studied the gesture in musical performance and published a thesys about "virtual violins ***" : https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-00349920/document
FingerFiddle, it is like if his "obsession" and all these knowledges have finally come to the world.
After the passing years, I am still very impressed by the result achieved (by a single person !) and no other app comes close to this regarding virtual acoustic instrument. A true masterpiece of programming...

By the way, here’s a very short video from the developer with it being played like a cello.

  • Here’s an old thread I dug up on a guy that plays FingerFiddle very well.

  • Thank you I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.. ok will check this process out.. I’m new to LF but really like it .. the LUTs in this new app look nice and very useful . Thanks again

  • Speaking of FingerFiddle in this sales thread, I don’t think it has ever been discounted since day 1.

It is kind of insane that it was priced so low -- for a long time, I didn't try it because I assumed at that price that it was a toy. I was kind of shocked when I got it because it has pro-level sound quality. I still don't thing anything sounds as good.

Well, it does rely on IAPs.

The base app comes with Cello only, and total cost for all instruments comes to $24 CAD here (which is not bad as it's less than the price of a single SWAM instrument!)

But yes, amazing app and definitely worth the price.

Yes, it’s more than reasonably priced. Its value as an instrument could easily make it a $9.99 item or more.
