I think Focusrite Scarlett is ideal.
iRig2 may not need additional power, which is handy.
However, it connects via a 1/8" TRRS, which can pickup handling noise - and is not present on some devices.

Which irig2 exactly? The $40 one with a 3.5 connector jack? You need an Apple 3.5mm to lightning connector cable ($10) to use that with your lightning iPad.
Does your iPad have a headphone Jack of its own?
Wait… you’re supposed to plug that into the headphones jack on old iOS devices that have them? Or do you use an apple 3.5mm to lightning adapter for the connection to iOS device?

What is your budget for an interface? Do you need just one input for your guitar, or do you need a 2-channel (2 input) interface? Are you able to return or re-sell the m-audio interface, and are you able to cancel the iRig? And what is your iPad model, lightning with headphone Jack or without?
There are so many options for a single channel input interface. Stay away from the cheap irig, the sims won’t sound as good as they could. I’m invested in helping you with this until the end 😎
iRig HD is so much better with the USB connection options.
The headphone versions are noisy and most amp sims warn you about that option and uncontrollable feedback. I was happy with the original iRig until i purchased the HD and realized a huge improvement in lower noise, better dynamics and audio quality. I love the fact that it functions from the iPad/iphone as the only required power source. The HD has a built-in phone jack that has a better sound too. The device headphone jack is turned off and all audio goes to the HD. Having an input volume control is good too.

my budget for an interface is $60
I have a $60 budget and that is it, so at this point i just do not know what my options are, I have $60 to spent a guitar and just do not know where to turn and I just have guitar in my fingers and no way to play it

It is plug and play, and powers off your iPad. It doesn’t get any easier. It’s specifically for iOS.
If you get a studio monitor, you would need to run it out of the headphone jack of the iPad, like plugging a speaker into a headphone output. Good enough.
The Jam 96k will sound better than that $40 iRig, at least because of the type of connection. Apogee has industry leading sound quality, even for an older model like the jam 96k.

ok well that $40 irig2 is all i had left to spend so will it sound good enough to get me by, will i be happy with it until i can afford a better interface or was it just waste of money?

…then you can’t even use that iRig with your iPad. Do you own that adapter? You need this to connect the iRig to your iPad lightning port. The iRig doesn’t go in the headphone jack.
If you have that adapter it will get you by… but I suggest cancelling that and getting a jam 96k for $40…
I cant find the apogee jam 96k.All I can find is the pus version which is out of my budget
I cancelled the order for the iris but I’m having trouble finding the apogee 96k. Does anyone wow of any one who still carries it
Yea the first sentence and point #1 is not mandatory but very helpful, I have both CCK’s I originally bought the single USB port, then later realized how much better it is to have the ability to keep the iPad charging and bought the CCK with the charging.
I also use a presonus audio interface.
Make sure your usb hub is powered and not just a hub. A powered hub must be plugged into something for the power. Guitar to interface, Interface to powered usb hub with usb A to usb b cable, hub to cck, cck to device. Check volume levels on interface, device and guitar. Check guitar pickups, if you have more then one, maybe one isn’t working, switch to a different pickup or combo of pickups.
I went ahead and cancelled my order for the irig2 and placed another order for the focusrite Scarlett solo generation 3
Great choice. The 3rd gen solo is an upgrade form the 2nd gen, sounds better, they also upgraded the monitor outs from rca to balanced which is a big deal, will be great once you purchase monitors. You also get a mic input with phantom power on there, not just a hi-z instrument input.
Keep in mind, I think it’s a usb-c to usb-a cable, so your camera connection kit adapter will be required and will come in handy. If your headphones are 1/8 jack you will need a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter to plug into the Scarlett. They’re like $1.
Once you have your stuff you will have more questions about levels and plugging in. Good choice on the Scarlett…

I have everything i need so once I receive it I will be good to go, next up is studio monitors....for now I only want to jam out and do some recording....do any of you guys use any apps for drums in recording? if so what apps do you use? what apps for drums would you recommend? I currently have rock drummer or is there better?
When using a focusrite Scarlett to use amp sims is also a powered hub required?
