Am i missing something? Have you saw Wacom bamboo Stylus Fineline? For less that 69 eur?
Palm detection is per app, not a system thing.

with apple pencil it could be a system thing. and that would be better.

But it could be really useful for editing synth patches, drawing envelope curves etc.
Not sure how developers have to support it.

Digging around for free stuff for Windows is like digging around for pennies in cushions, or like using Linux for 8 years, which I sadly did.

Fair enough. I will just leave this here for anyone else who might be interested in getting some quality free plugins for their full OS of choice.

    http://www.musicradar.com/computermusic/cm-plugins-full-list-of-our-exclusive-free-vst-au-plugin-instruments-and-effects-571808

Please keep in mind that this list is not up to date what with some plugins already updated with 64 bit versions.

Here is a list of effects plugins good folk form KVROSC recommends.

    https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/recommended-plugins

Don't forget to also check the synths included in monthly challenges. For starters, Lokomotiv from this month's challenge is a beast that I have not heard of before.

With all that being said, I think what matters is creating something. If the new iPad Pro is what will make you more productive, then by all means, it might be the right choice for you. I just don't see the same value in it, having invested so much in VSTs already.

Now that I think about, maybe I should grab a used Air2 off someone.

  • They fixed the stereo speakers on the pro, that's nice.

  • the effects of the kool-aid are wearing off. In my fog, I seemed to have missed the Logic for iPad Pro announcement. how depressing ;-b

No USB, 128gigs max. I knew that, you know, the screen would probably be bigger, but after that bit of modern detective work I really wanted the port and at least 256 gigs. The old thingie: Give a little, take a little.....I feel inclined to wait until Pro 2 or later, but am resigned to seeing Sir Doug and others showing me what I'm missing with 9 etc.

    Clever bastards.

    Christmas it is.

    Sigh.

Never buy version 1 Apple products
always wait a hard year for version 2 sigh
I had an iPad 1, it was to cool, couldn't resist. ^^

Logic needs at least 4GB RAM ;) Next year maybe! But once the specs are there i think they will make it some day.
I wish they would allow at least i-tunes on an iPad pro as file manager.... still no sign. Then it seems a lot developers hoped for an X-Code on iPad pro....
Sorry, i really would call it iPad plus. Not a pro at all!

Crazy, i found the apple tv was the most interesting part..... i'm scared about myself now :O

comes with 3d touch next year ^^
Xcode is an interesting topic, iPads still can't produce their own software.
everyone loves being out and about with iPad without heavy bag with a laptop...^^

  • Anyone noticed?
    no drag and drop

  • Hopefully ThumbJam, Animoog, etc. for iPhone will include 3d Touch features at least

That was pretty much the only thing I found appealing about it, as it's long been a complaint of mine about the iPad.

Yep. Takes twenty minutes to get to school to pick up the kid and I spent all of that telling Mrs. G about the things they didn't do that they could've and why waiting until Pro2 was the way to go and as we pulled through the gates she said: So when are you getting it?

    ^^
wonder where @sebastian is hanging out.

Hm, I don't think the pro is a device you want to hold in your hand, it's heavier than the iPad 1, I always had it laying in front of me, because it was to heavy to hold in your hand to read a website or book.

  • So, no new iPad Air till next year?

  • They gave us an iPad + but called it a pro, I guess it's what we expected.

  • I just noticed iPad Pro spec says Dual Microphones for calls, video and audio recording, which implies stereo recording. Which is interesting.

  • iPad Pro looks nice but if you are not a digital artist or a person who works with documents (especially technical pdf's) a lot, I don't see why you may need this instead of a regular size ipad. For making music, I'd buy a macbook air instead

Pencil looks cool though (if it works as good as they say)

  • I'm thinking about another iPad Air2 with the iConnect Audio4+ as my live / studio in a bag.

I've lost track of the number of times you've saved me typing JGY. Here we are again. Exactly the experience the missus and I just had. I said, "haven't you been listening to me?", and she blinked at me...

  • Hmmm lightning cable line perhaps?

  • Overall little of interest from the hardware side. But now for IOS 9 with the audio units and being able to run multiple instances of iaa instruments at once (a boy can dream ;)

I will be giving it a spin for sure, only hands on testing will tell what the resolution of the touch force property will be. If it quantizes too coarsely I may not bother, just like I didn't with the finger area sense (which seems hamstrung with only 3-4 discrete values now).

You say that now, and at least with this first generation of the iPad Pro it makes sense to be on the fence. But it's likely that when they come out with a Pro 2, it's going to have an even more advanced version of the 3D touch system they've just unveiled. It's also likely (just my own speculation) that there will be some type of Ableton Touch soon, probably by 2017 at the latest. I would take something like that over an MacBook Air and all the software in the world.

I'm assuming that almost everybody on this forum owns an ipad. So nothing would stop you from running Ableton Touch on the ipad you already have.
