Like any of the new iOS9 features?

There's already a thread that is focused on broken apps. I was wondering for people who have updated to iOS 9 are there any new features that you like. I'm really having fun with the split screen. It's very handy not to have to use the home button to switch between apps. I use the mail app a lot.

  • The battery life might be way longer now. I'm having a hard time believing the figures that I'm seeing since the update. If that continues then it will be impressive.

  • I don't care for the way the apps are when you double click the home button, to either swipe them away, or move between apps. Doesn't work nearly as smooth as the previous way.

I wish air 1 could do split screen. Not sure what else I should be looking for, as far as new 9 features?

  • Yeah, clever bastards, disappointing that the Air1 doesn't do the split.....

  • It does only the slide..... in general everything is a bit slugish since i updated and that slide comes in sometimes even i don't want it..... seems i have to turn it off ;)
So far i see no different on my iPad Air where i could say it's a major update. Would like to see some videos about the split screen in action.

  • Split screen is great. It is really two options: a swipe to the left on the right side of the screen for a quick view of an app, and a true split screen if you drag the split screen divider. So you can quickly view mail or calendar while remaining in whatever app you are in (even works on non Apple apps), or, have the split screen only for so far what appears to be only Apple apps (safari, mail, maps, calendar, messages, notes, etc.).

The 4x4 grid in folders is handy too.

Does the split screen works also in portrait mode?

Yep, combined with the pip there can be a lot happening on screen now.

  • Holding down two fingers on the keyboard to trigger mouse like text selection. Huge improvement over the previous method.

Yeah, big time improvement...that and the lower case keyboard! +1 for that!

Support for multiple languages is excellent, now. Classes better than on OS X. :)

Oh there is "undo" now. :)
    (apple + z)
    and a virtual trackpad,
I'm finally able to tell if I am going to write capital or small letters, haha
    no more text drama :)

  • There are ad-blockers for safari now :)

  • I agree the two finger mouse is great. It's way better than having to tap cursor position.

  • The "Back to..." button when jumping between the apps

  • Picture in picture is a real winner.

  • I have no idea how to make the stuff work you are talking about? I tried the two finger thing, and got nothin. Gonna go play guitar now. I know how to do that. lol.......

You need to turn "speak screen" on. Then swipe down from the top of the screen with 2 fingers.

The userguide is now also freely available in the iOS book store. This thing does more not so well known tricks - like triple klick the home button to invert the colors, so u get white text on dark background much better to read websites in the sun or @ night times:) (this used to be apple shift 5 6 7 on OS X)
    iOS is king of accessibility,
no other company does stuff like that that you can afford and that doesn't drive you crazy when you use it. Only Apple does it. :)

Oh u meant this? Put your index finger and your long finger together on the keyboard.

  • This text trick is a beautiful little bit of business that I will actually use and often.

I'm pleased that you can save a webpage direct to PDF from Safari without any 3rd party stuff. It has to go via iBooks, which is a little annoying though.

  • I'm really digging how swipe screen formats the mail program to the new panel. You can read and write directly from the panel without having to switch apps. You can also click on web links and have them open directly in Safari on the left. Sweet.

This sounds like a useful feature.

It's good to read all your brave adventures in iOS 9 land, but only a few actually post which devices you've upgraded on, since we have so many idevices these days it would be nice to know what the different experiences are like, on which device, especially older devices, this may be of help to myself and others, thanks everyone.

No audio related but is functional for me.

    • Now you can make zoon in a video. During the recording and when have been saved to the camera roll.

And you can do this directly over the text typed too.
