It's out, FieldScaper - Sound warp field recorder and scape constructor by iMusicAlbum
https://appsto.re/gb/O19_7.i
oh yes, I'm on it thanks
is there a way of starting all 3 oscillators simultaneously from within the app?
New tutorial vid up:
New tutorial = how to circuit bend guitars and other things in various nefarious ways
Has anyone bought this yet or are you waiting for me to do it?
I've bought it, but not really had time to play with it yet.
Ya, waiting you to record your dish washing sounds!
ok plunge taken....
I kept my expectations low for this one to avoid any disappointments - the videos look amazing but it's so often the case that when I get hold of an app the results are a bit underwhelming in comparison.
That's not the case here though - I had a quick (ish) 20 minute play with it and came up with a really nice soundscape, as weird and wonderful as anything in the vids. I found the controls pretty straightforward and was able to record and play a couple of samples, and 'open in' a recorded Thor sequence. Changing parameters was easy - I took to this a lot quicker than Soundscaper, which still confuses me, but anyone familiar with Soundscaper will feel at home with this one. Only thing that stumped me for a bit was changing the start/end points of the loop as my 'left swipe' wasn't quite swipey enough, but I got the hang of it on the end. A live 'scrubbing' feature update would be nice.
Conclusion - love it. Based on my short play I find it a bit like a cross between Soundscaper and iDensity - which is a good thing. Not everyone's cup of tea, but now everyone will be able to create Monzo-style loony soundscapes in just a few minutes. Looking forward to some live recording with the phone version.
5 stars from me.
@monzo, thanks, but more importantly, what has become of the dishwasher?
That's Mrs Monzo's department...
Had a quick play too and agree totally, very good app. Hope it gets scrubbing audio too like MTS which is so useful for editing. Haven't worked out how to save presets yet, anyone confirm if this is possible? Edit: ok got it, you just hold on the empty preset slot for options.
Was a bit worried since I have soundscaper and iDensity that it would be unnecessary but I think this has some great potential and character of its own.
Logo could do with a bit of work, but I'll let him off
I've changed the colour scheme to black and white and now feel like I'm holed up in a Russian bunker...
This is the kind of sampling app I've been waiting for... It took about 10 min to make some really interesting sounds from radio static and classical samples... I think this will go great with Sparkle for some wild drones... Need to get a 32 knob midi controller and record some of this...
Mister @monzo got my attention, but his review-game has been a bit all over the place of late, wild-enthusiasm to cursing-the whole-house, I love the man but his similarity to a major character in a minor Dostoyevsky novel is becoming more and more apparent. Let's keep that between us.
What got my attention in your note was the notion that it falls in Soundscaper and iDensity territory but might in fact be the workable cousin of these items. Going in....
Mrs Monzo has gone off for a hot air balloon ride (yes, really) so I'm going to have another quick go and see if this is the case - it certainly was on first play though.
I love that We should start a collection of reasons/opportunities/excuses we have to get our music on. I play the saxophone (poorly) but only when the house is entirely empty. I am always encouraging Madam to make haste on her next outdoor indulgence or project....
I'd recommend booking her a balloon trip - there's no chance of her sneaking back then.
I've just recorded a short thing with Fieldscaper, live into Audioshare, I'll post it later after I've picked up Monzo Jnr. At this point I have absolutely nothing but praise for this thing.....really, really like it. Definite tinges of Borderlands and iDensity, but the added manglings make it so much more fun. Looking for a way to clear the start/end points (will check the manual again later), but apart from that this is my favourite sample mangling sausage now.
Look forward to hearing your noodle. Please go ahead and figure out all the confusing bits so later-adopting n00bs (self) can annoy you with simple plaintive cries and questions etc.
I've been looking for an app that could give some depth and dimension to soundfonts, one that could be controlled by CC midi through MultitrackStudio. It looks like this app might fit the bill nicely.
Probably drying the dishes, no doubt. Seriously you should have gone too, a field and airborne recording, with FieldScaper, who could think of a better way to spend a day, all the whooshing, and washing, such joy.
That would be a good idea, except I'm terrified of heights. I'll do the washing up instead.
Wilco. I'll try and resist the urge to embellish it with overdubs, and just present the live thing.
Had a little play and I love it !
I imported a beat and a bass from gadget and I could play the thing live like samplr, add weird sounds over top !
I'm gonna use this one a lot, thanks !
Am I the only morbid soul here who read the headline of this thread and thought, "Oh no! Igor's dead!" ... ?
Whew. Off to watch @thesoundtestroom's demo.
Yes it's great and with the extensive midi options, the potential for awesomeness has just overloaded my awesometer
Word of the Day here in Austin: Awesometer. Brilliant.
Here's my unadulterated play with Fieldscaper - very difficult for me not to fiddle with this - even just reversing the right channel made it sound better but resisted the temptation, instead to demonstrate exactly what it actually does. Recorded live into Audiobus, my second only play with it:
@monzo These are the sounds I keep expecting SETI to receive.
My head is intercepting transmissions from KIC 8462852
I love this app, looking forward to working out how to put live feeds through it, Doug's vid will be useful for this - I fear my SOTM is getting hijacked again. How are you getting on with it?
You could do a nice video for that with MVGEN.
Waiting for Madam G to take kid off to his drop-and-cough Doctor's appointment so I can stop pretending to write this speech and dive in etc....
