Much appreciated BvsMV. Now that's two people comparing my singeing to MESs dulcet tones! Talk about giving a guy a complex.. Ha ha
But yeah thanks for the comments. It is very cool of people to drop by and offer feedback.
Cool. Got a big Christmas number planned?
@Jocphone I definitely think you have more singing skills than Mr. Fall however.
Just different. Having seen them many, many times live I'm a big fan of his voice. Just never imagined it had shaped my own attempts with the old noisehole.
@richardyot nice job this month. The production seems a little more experimental, but you still have the 80s shoegaze guitar going on. One thing I would suggest would be to either push the vocals up in the mix or bury them more for more of a textural sound with the reverb. Good job.
@Bluepunk Nice work man! The production on this is a step up from last month, but still has a nice raw punk rock sound. Your lyrics are enjoyable, it's a good change of pace from the normal electronic meandering that I produce.
OK, finally had a chance to listen and feed back...
@JohnnyGoodyear - Just Passing Through
I think I may have already commented (can't remeber) but it's a good track. Nice laid back feel - quite a catchy canter through. You're voice is great and kind of sounds like Jack White having a mellow moment. I love the film sample plus soundscape bit at the end. It's maybe a little long (can't believe i'm now saying this to you) - but other than that, good stuff I think. Not my absolute top favourite of yours tune/catchy song wise - but pretty solid stuff.
@Jocphone
Similar feedback to last time I think. A little too random even for my liking - but some nice atmosphere and sounds in there. Perfect for sampling! I respect you're doing your thing with the avant guard structure though.
@rkmonkey - she (devil)
Yeah - lots of energy and passion behind this one. A proper song with guitars and singing and everything. I guess the genre isn't particularly my cup of tea but if it was i'm sure i'd have loved it.
@BvsMV - The Lights Go Passing By
One of my definite favourites this month. Damn, this is a track i wish i'd made. Sounds very flowing and crisp and well produced. A lovely mix of chilled out and groovy. Is this Gadget? Or something else? Nice work anyway! I'm sorry i was so rude about your track last month .
@Bluepunk - So what
A talent. Definitely a talent here....
This sounds totally like something you'd hear on the radio (after the watershed). Very clever but angry lyrics. Perfectly pitched and performed. Great solid driving punk chords behind it. Great song structure and chord changes - proper attitude. Really good song writing all round. Well produced too (although i;m not expert with this type of genre). Seriously good stuff IMO.
@monzo
Hope you're still there dude! We miss you!
Great track for November i thought. On the surface it's fairly unstructured but actually there is a pretty structured track there that develops and moves you through. Loving some of the textures and sounds you're getting out of your 'black mirror'. Keep on making this stuff.
@JeffChasteen - I found this quite a challenging listen (mainly down to the genre - which I don't usually listen to). Seemed to be pretty well produced.
@mrufino1
Love the music - and I like the vocal hook / chorus too - quite catchy.
I guess being honest the singing sounded a bit.... "kind-of" - in parts. Great song writing and music production though. And i'm judging this by commercial 'songs i'd hear on the radio' standards.
@LostBoy85 Probably my favorite track that you've done! Your vocals improve every month. I really love the use version, but you did a great job taking it from that seemingly simple dirty to a big, well produced pop song. The vocal harmonies are fantastic, well mixed. He lyrics are edgy and it's a good story. Finely, I love all the twists and turns with the instrumentals. Great indie-pop track!
@richardyot
Things i liked and things i didn't like so much on this one...
I love the music and i love the 'sound design' - all those soft (M1 I presume) patches are really working. Very cool and velvety. Not too 80s - but strangely timeless... Good stuff.
The buzzard noises (assume thats what they were) were creative
Singing wise it sounded a bit muddy and a bit out of tune occasionally. I think on recent tracks it seemed a bit more on the button. But then i'm not expert on vocals.
Hope that's helpful.
@Igneous1 - Catalan Box
Man - I love this.... I'm so pleased because i'm aware that every month i'm a total dick and say that I think your stuff is too much like 'lounge music'. But this - is really great. One of my definite favourite tracks this month. Really nice groove to it, very cool sounding, great balanced mix of sounds, good beat - everything really works for me. This track and @BvsMV were the two this month where i really thought 'I need to go back and steal some ideas from this stuff' .
Nice title too...
Thanks man! It's not Gadget, I've been doing this iOS/Mac hybrid thing the last couple of months. The whole songs written with iOS in GarageBand (usually on my phone), and then cleaned up and maybe tweaked a little in Abelton. I don't get aloe of time in my studio (spare room in the house), so I have been overdubbing a lot on my phone in GarageBand on my way to work. Most of the synths are either from their or iKaosilator. I think the drums were iMachine through Audiobus actually. As for last month, no worries! You were not rude at all. That was an alt version, you said the original sounded like Bonobo. Can't beat that! Anyway, we don't want this to be Just Pat on the Back Club.
@LostBoy85 - Aim to please
I listed when you first released this - and I think I might have commented (or maybe not) - anyway - this is really pro stuff.
The lyrics are really accomplished and very funny. It's total 'singer-song writer sensation on you tube' type stuff. It's a very clever track that builds lyrically and musically, and at various parts i'm half aware you're doing some clever stuff musically too.
You should be very pleased!
@Bluepunk Sorry, the pitfalls of procrastination. I can't find your original post, what did you make your track with by the way? It sounds so big, and the vocals are really well mixed!
No problem; it is a genre that I don't usually listen to either
Thanks for listening and the comments.
@Jocphone
I must confess to not having heard the vocal version yet. Sorry - I will do - and then feed back
@NoiseHorse - Fall Downbeat
Interesting , but quite a tricky listen... (I found).
There's a pretty non-linear / non-traditional beat / structure thing going on (to me) which I found a bit difficult to get a handle on - but there were some cool sounds too.
@touchconspiracy - The Infinity flames project demo
This i liked... One of your best I think. It's pretty route 1 old school techno and I liked it. It does all the right things. There are enough different parts to keep it interesting throughout. I like the variatiomns towards the end of the track. The sound design is fantastic - so lovely stuff in there. The vocal hits are just right. It's really very god. Totally 'club ready' as you put it once - great job mate.
@gburks - No Fear To Bleed
@Simon_Acetone - Wilful Misrepresentation Of The Truth:
Already commented - love it... very creative
