In Synthmaster I've noticed that if the keyboard lock is off its very easy to get stuck notes on the onscreen keyboard and the arrow buttons that change octaves on the keyboard don't seem to work either.
I'm also disappointed in how much more the CPU spikes in this new version, it's a huge difference. Hopefully this can be fixed by optimization or allowing us to change skins if this is because of the new graphics. I really like the new look but not at the expense of CPU if the graphics are what's causing the CPU usage to be so much higher  than before.

I've noticed the exact same issue with the keyboard in Peter Vogel's CMI app. It's very frustrating, especially when you get a great melody in your head and it just WON'T FUCKING PLAY :-u

Using an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.1, SynthMaster Player really does seem to have issues with polyphony and rapid note changes. It's become functionally more like a monosynth. It's not very hard at all to get crackling going if you use an app like SP Electro to play the notes. Even playing one finger on the built-in keyboard can produce crackles sometimes even when you're playing slow. The volume output of many presets is too high so you get clipping and have to adjust the patch controls to prevent this. The CPU usage definitely does seem to be spiking more. Really not playable at this point.

I love the makeover and all of the additions but I'm getting a lot of crackling myself. Too much to make it really any useful unfortunately.

Ipad Air 2 with IOS 9.1.
  • Huge Fail this time.

It will hopefully be fixed quick
  • I am also getting a lot of cracking,iPad Air
  • I had the 'cracking' problems, deleted and re-installed the app, cracking problems gone, but still the onscreen keyboard is buggy and sometimes it's not even possible to use the octave up/down buttons, it seems to be 'locked', it is possible to unlock and swipe the keyboard up/down but the octave buttons stop responding.

CPU usage is higher, in the previous version a patch took ~15% CPU in the new update the same patch spikes at >40% with the same buffer settings. If i set the buffer size to 'short' many patches start to crack up (iPad Air 2), in previous version the 'short' buffer was fully playable.

Hopefully this will be sorted out in an update...
  • Crashing, crashing, crashing and no don´t want to send. Happening when pressing the Menu button ....
  • The Menu button crash is the problem I've hit, but luckily no crackles, or any noise. The extra keyboard stays in sync with the bottom when changing octaves so you can't make full use of it.  The arrows and lock seem to work ok for me.

I'll have to check on CPU usage once it gets fixed.  No menu is a big problem for me for various reasons.  This is on iPad-mini2, iOS9.1

  • Got the Pro upgrade last week. Many of the patches are unusable. Crackling and huge CPU spike causes crashes. Disappointing. iPad 3, iOS 8.4.1.

  • Works fine for me. None of what you guys are reporting. CPU usage seems high though. iPad Air 1 and iOS 9.1
  • This thread is very useful to someone who was thinking about buying more packs. Thanks to Ral, who started it, and everyone who added information.

  • I used it on my iPhone 6s on a gig last night and didn't have any issues, although I was using simple bass patches.

Were you triggering from an external keyboard? It works fine for me with an external keyboard when the app is standalone, it's just the CPU spikes way too high based on the previous version so it's not going to play as well with other apps. The on screen keyboard works sometimes and then other times notes get stuck when the lock is off and the buttons to switch octaves don't always work, this behavior is hit or miss.

  • It is heavier on CPU usage with some patches, and, yes, with an iPad 3 you will experience that. Better on a higher-power device.

Yes, I was using an irig keyboard and just using it standalone. I don't use audiobus or inter app that often, most synths are standalone for live use now and gadget when I want to use synths together.

  • The app works fine on IPhone 6plus.

Can't get it to open on IPad Air with IOS 8 at all.

  • They are aware of the iOS 8 issue.

I agree. I haven't experienced any problems with my iPhone 6 Plus...

  • the update is live now ! looking good, even fixes the keyboard issues

  • Oooooo! Going to just go look for now.

  • Shit! I don't know what I was thinking and instead of going to the store to read more I opened into updates and actually hit update! Well, I am a guinie pig it seems now. Diving in after download. I was looking forward to this so here goes.

  • ReUpdated and works fine. I want to purchase Pro upgrade, is it that Factory Presets pack for 4.99 ?

    Should be.

  • This update is running well for me on iOS 9.1 on an iPad Air 2 it seems to have resolved the crackling when playing. Will have to play it some more to see how it goes. It's nice the developer had such a quick turn around on getting the update out.

  • Running great for me, I didn;t update the last time around, so didn't get to enjoy the new landscape. It looks sweet!
