The update doesn't run very well on an iPad 2 running iOS 9.1 which just doesn't have enough computing power to handle the app on a great many patches. Saw one preset which gave me a CPU hit of 99% with nothing else running on the iPad but Synthmaster Player. None of this is too surprising even though I hadn't installed the app on the iPad 2 before. To give the developer credit though, despite the heavy CPU hits, the app didn't crash and on some the patches it seemed to sort of work so long as you didn't get much polyphony going. The developer should revise their minimum hardware requirements upward so they don't include the iPad 2.

  • Seems the pitch wheel is not returning to where it started, (sound wise).

  • It's just been updated this morning.

    @lbiyikoglu ,

iOS 9.1. Air 2, Synthmaster Player does not response to individual midi channel. There is also no light to indicate selected single channel.

  • Pitch issue is since the last update.

    @Ibiyikoglu ,

Today I did a Auria midi track, then I proceeded to do Bounce Track. Bounce Track in Auria Pro transforms a midi track to an audio track. I practiced it by using FM4, Animoog , Enkle, iSem and Synthmaster Player.

Updated Synthmaster failed the test on BOUNCE TRACK in Auria Pro. All other synth apps passed the test. 3 photos attached to show it is only a blank audio line. Please, developer of Synthmaster Player, can you check your IAA implementation?

    iOS9.1 Air2 Auria Pro

  • Pitch wheel now works as it should on ios8.4.1 / Air 1.

  • MIDI channel selection seems to be broken.
    Air2/8.4.1

  • Much better now, can confirm the bounce in place bug in Auria Pro. At least it syncs reasonably well and the crackles have been improved. Still CPU usage is off the hook even for simple patches.

  • As others have said MIDI channel selection is not working now. CPU usage is at least twice what it was with the older version for the same patches. Not cool.

Cup on air1 between 15 and 25 percent here on an Air 1 depending on the patch. Loving the update so far. Great synth still, thanks!

  • I can live with quirks but the cpu usage really is the major drawback now. I noticed, maybe just an impression, that the soundquality has improved. The top end is much more clear now. I can't recall is there a quality setting somewhere?

Did the cpu usage went as it used to be ,after the fix? I haven't updated yet, because I prefer the old gui ,than overloading.

    Edit: I hate parallel threads.....

  • Perhaps a thread merge would be in order I agree. Yes I am using the updated version for checking CPU.
@o_imseng Yes I thought it sounded better also but until you mentioned it I thought it was just my imagination given I have no way to compare them.

  • Before the update i had around 25% as well. I'll check again for settings later on the train commute.

Crashing, crashing, crashing and no don´t want to send. Happening when pressing the Menu button ....

Great fixed with the update, working again, thanks.

  • I don't recall the exact level of CPU use in the old version but for most patches it was in the 10%-15% range and now it is in the 30%-35% range for the same patches. The only other big new thing is the GUI so if that's why the CPU is so much higher now I would like to be able to go back to the old GUI. I do like the new look but not at the expense of CPU.

  • Frustrating? Nooo!

    Very frustrating!!! :s

    I want to clarify.

1- **I have bought Syntmaster and must be working perfectly. :# :# :#
    **
2- After update ( an update perhaps.... too fast), nothing has changed. :(

3- The master keyboard is not working properly because of stuck notes.
If you use an external keyboard everything works fine. But If you use the master keyboard of the app or a midi controller in virtual midi, nothing works. A note playing and two other No! Very frustrating!!!
If you use iFretless as midi controller, you can hear a bad and wrong Pitch and many crackles. Absolutely boring. The app is eating too many resources to the CPU!
    Please, optimization.

4-The Pitch wheel is locked to value 11. Why? This, perhaps, is the cause of locked keyboard.

5- If you try to change the Pitch Bend Range happens ... Nothing! The value, 11, doesn't change.
I am waiting for a really update.
    Thankx

    Watch the video...frustrating!!!
    It's very clear.

thanks alot, I'll fix this asap

  • Here's an idea of the CPU overload you can get on an iPad 2 running iOS 9.2.

  • I can not get the CPU over 30 on my Air1 iOS 8.4.1. No matter what I have tried . Anyone on the same set up getting spikes?

This is what I'm seeing on my iPad3, iOS 8.4.1

  • I guess it would be much harder on a 2 or a three. Bummer for sure.

@lbiyikoglu @Tritonman with Synthmaster Player 1.1.1 the audio glitching problems seem to occur on more CPU intense patches to the point where even on an iPad Air 2 you will get significant glitching if you try even modest polyphony. You can't really play much of anything at all on an iPad 2. A work around is setting the Audiobus latency control all the way up to 1024 frames, when I do this Synthmaster player will work even on an iPad 2. Both of these devices are on iOS 9.2.

On an iPad Mini 2 running iOS 8.4 I experience none of these problems. In addition the same patches report using 10% less CPU. It seems there might be a problem with iOS 9.2 and the app and/or the app doesn't use the multicore capabilities of the iPad Air 2.

    Sets the bar pretty high........................

The guys at KV are the best.

I don't think that there is any question in my opinion, Synthmaster is the best IOS synth.

I have been a fan boy since day 1. Best VST for my PC, Best synth app on IOS.

I just wish they had more apps.

Interesting! I experience a lot of glitching too! Granted, I set my device to the lowest possible latency, and the highest possible quality, but I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus, which is only one model behind the 6s series. I would have expected it to not crackle at the highest quality/lowest latency. I'd like to know what I should be able to expect with my device... I love the sound quality and the many, MANY capabilities of this synth!! I LOVE that there are hundreds of patches available too!!

@RustiK @Audiojunkie it's a nice synth, just some iPad Air 2 and/or iOS 9 bugs to work out so it performs the same as on my iPad Mini 2 on iOS 8.4. Suspect there may be some multicore functionality the app isn't using.

It seems to run fine on my iPhone 6 and reports using almost 20% less CPU on some patches.

Makes sense. I agree, it's a really nice synth!

Which DAW do you use? And can you please try with oversampling turned off?
