    @Fruitbat1919
    Thanks for this pointer, I had been waiting, I want this to be cool

  • Ditched this ages ago due to the confusing interface and lack of documentation. Hopefully V2 will help breathe some life into it.

    Edit: V 2.0 seems to have fixed this app, and the below rant can be ignored ;)

    Just a heads up, the version before this was absolutely useless. I don't think anyone managed to use that POS app for more then 1-2 minutes without a crash (on any device). They need to do more then just slapping a "V 2.0" in the app info to get me to purchase it again.

    I rarely complain about an app/dev, but definitely felt that a small heads-up wouldn't hurt here lol. But hey miracles happen, and the dev might have sorted this app out, who knows..

  • OK, but WHAT is it? Votan Telepathy? Vogon poetry by way of ear worms?

    Ya know me....if it's got knobs and dials ta tweek, my interest is peaked lol

  • Curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded it. I had forgotten about the crash problems, but @ChrisG is right on that. That was probably the bigger reason with me wiping it. The other equally big reason was an inability to get useable sounds out of it and the poor implementation of the community. The few minutes I just played with it seemed more stable and sounded pretty good, but I don't see any presets and nothing in the community.

    Hmmm think I'll wait for now.

    Thanks all for your help and comments.

  • Mmmmm, the original version, well to say nothing was enough, just had a play seems a little quirky when saving, but the sound engine seems to have vastly improved, so far a cautious thumbs up.

    Damned with faint digits...

  • Telepathy has many different filters, LFOs, envelopes, fx and ways of combining and linking them together. There really aren't a lot of presets and those for the previous version don't work in the updated app. You can definitely get some very spacey, glitchy, complex sounds from the app. It has midi in, IAA instrument but no Audiobus. It tends to lose the headphone signal and come out of the speakers but unplugging and plugging the headphones back in restores the signal. It has an online cloud system to get presets or share yours. You can save presets to your device.

    Here's a brief demo of one of the presets on an iPad Air 2 on iOS 9.2:

  • I couldn't find anything on midi @Paul. Is it just baked in? Virtual and core both?

    Thanks and cool demo!

    couldn't find the midi in, better change my AppStore post oops

    @funjunkie27 it receives MIDI via hardware with a CCK and virtual MIDI on channel one only. It doesn't have a virtual MIDI port for the app itself so it must just listen for the virtual MIDI.

  • Thanks @Paul. I did just check the virtual midi and that worked well. I got a pretty other worldly sound and liked the sound with the sequence. Still, I couldn't hear much difference with the effects being added or dropped. I also couldn't figure out how to save the patch to the public. Any insight on those?

  • @funjunkie27 you might want to make sure the effect is active and depending upon what else is going on in the patch you may need to change up the settings. Here's the info on their website for setting things up and making presets public.

  • Thanks again @Paul. I'll give it a look. I've wanted to like this app from the beginning, as it seemed to have a lot of potential but missed on some key points.

    Just pressed the button, I am sold after hearing on soundcloud presets.

  • New presets demo from v2.0

    Some minor bugs on AB chain and midi out really needing a fix! IAA only has audio implementation. After few hours playing, the synth engine is on good condition from my fluffing. I like it, it is fast to exam the unexplored on sound territories. The sound banks are limited on the web, but the synth is powerful to make my own. CPU usage is fine on iPad. Some texts are hard for eyes to see clearly, which hinders me a lot, but will get used to it. This is another unique synth that hardly found on app store. A bit looks strange feeling, but it is actually very stylish synth. If those midi in and out and IAA midi implementations and presets management are well implanted, it deserves its seat on top.

  • @Kaikoo if you download presets or create your own, you can use them without being connected to the internet. Make sure the presets you try to play were created this year as older ones are not compatible with Telepathy 2 and they can mess up your session with Telepathy which leads to needing to close out the app or possibly doing a restart to get going again.

    The Soundcloud demos are quite representative what is there. Very special filters treatment can be mimic of Moog analog sounds. This is why I bought it. Couldn't find them except Animoog and iMini.

    Thank you, Paul. That explains it clear why some presets are buggy. I also noticed I have to pre-saving downloaded presets, otherwise, the messed up preset can not be backed to it's original default state. Needs to download again, however, downloading is a quick process.

    @Paul ,

    I just found out it's sine wave oscillator has so strong sub woofer sound by applied ANA filter. Shockingly good and pure for bass sound effect.

  • What is the instances and commit buttons for?

  • Dunno...I was wondering the same. I still don't see any presets in the public folder. There are several other buttons I've found that I can't figure out what they're for, such as the sequencer and master effects buttons, which don't seem to do anything, the input slider, and in the browser, the permissions button doesn't lead anywhere. It does sound much better than before, but the lack of documentation is irritating.

    Wonder if it has to do with transferring patches to the desktop version?

  • Maybe. I couldn't find thier email address, I try to contact them.

  • That's what I was guessing, but it doesn't seem to work, if that was the intent.

    This app has good concept, but programming skills is far off from designing point of view.

    @kaikoo, @funjunkie27
    Commit is what saves patches (can edit the name etc on browser page and save the words but Commit is needed to save the patch.) Got that from website after puzzling over it.

    Public folder- tap the bank names, then select one bank, then tap download bank, then peek in user banks and there they are...

    Been exchanging emails with dev Gary, had written a long while ago about integration stuff (IAA, midi, AB). [email protected]

    I wrote this time because only DAWs that specify Virtual MIDI as a destination can sequence Telepathy, (Cubasis, MTS) but only Cubasis seems to get the audio to flow. (IAA in Cubasis)

    Audiobus won't fully launch it, "Port unavailable"

    Dudes by himself on the project, sold all his hardware synths to continue work on Telepathy, and told me has zero beta testers, and was very appreciative of detailed bug reports.

    The work on the sound engine is really great! Interoperability needs love...
