  • ah.. too bad, thanks.

  • I wish there was a way to hear the samples with out any ambience sort of like the option in EZ drummer. Wonder if that would be a possibility

  • Separate stems and a dedicated lane/cymbal selection for the crash so that can be captured as well ... I'm just not a stereo drum track kinda guy, unless I need a "Ram Tough" beat for a jingle. Hopeful we'll see this feature down the line.

Even if we don't, still a great sounding app, nothing else like it on iOS.

  • Hey folks, though RDM has a tap tempo button, it , and start/stop cannot be controlled directly via midi.
The suggestion from Luis was to use the midi sync feature.
What I really want is just to control RDM with my feet. Anyone know if the MidiFlow clock has a midi capable tap tempo feature, or does any one have a suggestion for a way to tap in a tempo for RDM via midi?

  • Only thing, we need to be able to turn off the scroll bar noises, u know in pattern mode. I had sick jam an then "Blam:" super loud scrolling fx haha. Im sure an easy fix....

  • any suggestions as to the best way of using RockDM to generate Midi for the ToonTrack programs? I use both but haven't had much success blending the 2. Love how I can get exactly what I want on RDM3 and I use Toontrack a good bit, to use both in this way would be my ideal drum programming scenario. Would I be able to send the RDM file to DropBox and open it in Logic as audio, then convert to Midi? Or would I have mapping issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Been using Audiobus for 6 months or so and recently started recording with a Mac and Logic. Merry Christmas!!

Ya know, with this, Funk Drum Machine, Drum Loops HD 1&2, and Beats+ , there are a lot of options for instant gratification ( without any programming effort, or even much of a setup). I don't see anything like this for the desktop.

  • On the desktop there's Jamstix. It's a virtual drummer just like RDM.

    Thanks, I downloaded that!

There's also Ezdrummer, which is very good, but the iOS versions are dead simple to use. That was my point.

  • @RustyPerez Hopefully, we'll see midi controlled tap tempo in Midiflow soon. But you can use Midibus for this now. It supports both midi controlled tap tempo and direct tempo setting from midi.

Thanks for the tip, I use both the Toontrack EZ and Superior on my desktop as well as the RDM on my iPad and although the Toontrack stuff is great in many ways the RDM is just so killer in every way. Just haven't been able to blend them in a reasonable way.

Ezdrummer 3 is actually rather easy to use. Desiring anything more simple is perhaps silly, and yet, apps like RDM manage to do it.

  • Hey @rad3d THANKS! I've been looking for that answer for a couple of weeks. I really think these drum machine apps could be the best answer, at the moment, for those of us who want a foot controlable IOS drum machine.
I thought I might have to purchase the midi control options for MidiFlow, but couldn't find any confermation that it included a tap tempo feature.

Could you please tell me if Midibus plays nicely with VoiceOver?

I have not yet gotten a midiFlow remapping to work. I'm having a strange problem where nothing appears in the midi monitor in MidiFlow when I press buttons on my Looptimus.
When I first installed and began working with MidiFlow, my wife did see activity on the monitor, that's how I figured out which notes the buttons were sending, but now, for some reason, no activity in the midi monitor. So, I think that's why my mappings aren't working. I know the controller is working because I can play notes in other apps like thumbjam and GarageBand I'm using the PAD feature to play accompaniment pads and drones.

I think I'm going to delete and reinstall MidiFlow.

Yes. It works fine though the names of the transport controls aren't mapped perfectly for voice over, though it's such a minimal app that I don't think you'll have a problem.

Only thing to keep in mind is that MidiBus has a battery saving feature when your Ipad is running on battery only. If it doesn't receive any activity within 15 mins, I think it stops sending clock and you have to go back in and restart the transport. I use an ICA4+ for my audio interface so I have constant power to my iPads. Not sure what you're using, though something to be aware of.

Keep in mind that whenever you switch out of MidiFlow to another app, the monitor resets and you have to turn it back on when you come back to MidiFlow.

I think I'm going to delete and reinstall MidiFlow.

If all else fails, always a good thing to try.

Good call on Jamstix! That's exactly what I've wanted for desktop purposes. Can't thank u enough Tones!

  • I've had Jamstix since the very first release. It is an amazing virtual drummer. The ability to have several drummer profiles based on real human drummers is awesome! I hardly ever spend any time on my desktop anymore, so that is why I am so happy that the closest thing to Jamstix on IOS is Rock Drum Machine. I am so grateful to Luis for making this amazing app.

  • I seem to recall that they said a version of Jamstix was under consideration for IOS, but that was months ago and I haven't seen anything since. Rock on, RDM!

Agreed!! It so exceededs everything else especially at that ridiculous low price that it drives me to find ways to find comparability with other platforms!

  • RDM is my super favorite. This year I plan to really learn it big time! I really want to learn to make my own patterns and save them correctly for a song structure.
Jamstix on the PC is amazing too! One of my favorite drummer profiles for it where the Phil Collins one. Great program. Only thing is that its really deep! A complete drummers dream come true. I suggested to the developer to create an advanced and easy mode for us non drummer folks. Haven't checked if it ever got made, but since I have RDM I don't miss it anymore. I hope Luis updates it with Link.

I'm starting one of those socialized media campaigns:

    # LUISLINK

  • Luis Martinez, I really wanna see Rock Drum Machine on that Ableton page. Imagine the amount of exposure for this amazing app! :)

  • Rock DM and Funk Drummer hopefully. Disappointed though because neither of them work with Loopy which is what I use the grand majority of the time. Anybody else getting this? Tried to contact Luis but there's no option to do so on the developers website.

  • Had a nice workout with FunkDrummer last night and it sounds so much like a live drummer and so easy to boot! RDM and FD are going to be staples for drums to jam with on the ILoud with Tonestack.

  • Ok. Disaster averted. Loopy>Clock Sync>disable Ableton Link. RDM and Funk Drummer working as advertised. Joy in Mudville.

Little test of Funk Drummer with JamUpPro by Audiobus:

    Sorry for mistakes.

  • Was wondering, when you create patterns in RDM, do you often disable the automatic fills option?
I was thinking if those using RDM do this. I want to program some patterns for a song but don't want any fills to come in the wrong sections. Any thoughts or tips on how you prepare your patterns for songs?

  • I'm using "song mode", in this case is much more control.

  • I've used song mode too, of course, but much as I love this app the song mode is, I think, the weakest/least intuitive part...

  • I like song mode, the thing is that its best to have the patterns named in such a way to help recognize them. So I name mine like Var1 song name, var2 song name and so on... But it could def be refined a bit.,
