Make no mistake, I'm not knocking it. Just don't find it as pushing-you-on as some. It's certainly not in the can't-figure-it-out category. I'm just a cake guy; want it and eat it etc.
I agree with JohnnyGoodyear, that song mode isn't as easy to use as some apps (say, Korg iPolysix or iMS-20). I also wish that RDM would remember the last tempo and pattern that you used. But MIDI clock sync is very welcome -- I'm using it now with BPM synched delays in Tonestack -- and I love all the patterns and kits.
@bether is right - song mode let's you decide when the fills come down. I just started playing with it last week and it's really easy, once you get the hang of it. My only (minor) complaint is lack of a "velocity for fills" slider. Since the fills are pretty random, you'll often get a Phil Collins style fill in the middle of your hard-driving Ian Paice drum pattern - disconnect. Aside from constructing your own fills (in which case, why are you in Rock Drum Machine?) the only real workaround now is to record multiple takes until either the fills all sound like they came from the same player at the same velocity as the song, or multiple takes and stitch together in DAW to achieve same.
But song mode is super-easy, compared to, say, DrumPerfect. Program and save your Verse, Chorus, v1, v2, whatever naming of parts works, then hop over to song mode and insert those parts where desired. A duplicate function for parts in addition to the existing move function would be a nice add as well ... oh, and support for saving/exporting stems either as files, or even better, as separate IAA channels
I used Rock Drum Machine on my high5denied song. It's nothing special(my song, not RDM). But it is extremely easy to use for me. And, I can fake keys with thumbjam and soundprisim and virtual midi. But drums is a whole nutha leval....
I suck at programming them. If I didn't, diode and patterning and others would be great. I have them, but don't do a whole lot with them. Derek Buddymeyer is close to his drum app coming out as well. Should be fun to see what that is capable of. I have some of his BM3 kits, and they sound really good. He's a guitar player, so I've asked him, and mentioned to him how you know, us guitar players need something simple, effective and easy peasy.
He said he will deliver. He's a guitar player, so I believe him.
I notice a lag in start when trying to sync start using audio buss and Auria Pro. I'm pretty new to iPad App recording but when I use Xdrummer Audio Buss and Auria, no lag. Xdrummer starts immediately and stays in sync with my Auria project. Can anyone help with this problem? Is it latency in RDM?
Thanks
I’m my experience ,..All luis Martinez apps are hopeless when it comes to midi implementation and sync... some small bug or the other .. I have rdm.. Brazilian .. African.. soft ... funk ... I use funk drummer regularly for jams .. the most used app on my phone ...this is where his apps shine .. simplicity .: the moment i try things like auria sync .. Audiobus ... midi controls .. something of the other is amiss
Just use ableton link for his apps. Atleast they're rock solid timing for me when using it. And use midi link sync in Midi=>link mode to get the timing right.
