Harsh.
+1 on the harsh
It's always a good idea not to believe everything you read on the internet.
Wow man. Let it go. Did you even read what @monzo wrote? (don't answer that! just let it go)
The cold anyway bothered me never!

I must admit that I was one spreading misinformation, not intentionally. I thought I read at one point that auria was dropped to $25 from $50 and that auria pro would either be a $50 outright purchase or an upgrade that end up at the same price, and I definitely told that to @monzo when he was on the fence about auria, as well as telling others the same. However, even if rim did say that then counted the 10,000 hours of work and realized an additional $14 was needed (please understand I am not saying this is what he did!) then it is what it is. No personal attacks are needed on anyone and stuff happens. It seems that the initial misunderstandings and expressions of feelings have calmed down, let's not bring it all up again.
It's definitely a lesson to me to check the facts again before I answer questions, even if I think I know them, since I was never employed with wavemachine labs as any sort of spokesman! Just a very satisfied user.
I was a beta tester though and I saw how responsive he is and continues to be, and this program is unbelievable. I did a TON of work on auria over the past 2 or so years and as of tomorrow I am off until Jan 4 and will dig further into pro, finally mixing a TON of live jazz recordings that I made at my church sound gig (yes, a very amazing jazz service each week, totally different than anything else I've ever done and just awesome). I'm very happy to have finished out a busy time at work and gigs and be able to breathe and be creative again....
Hope everyone is as well as they can be and enjoy what's left of 2015!
@mrufino1
Nicely done Rufino. Not a sky-daddy botherer myself, but your jazz services sound triffic. Have an excellent 2016 Mister.
Haha! I'll remember that, sky-daddy. Some pretty legendary musicians play at this service, it's a good representation of NYC jazz (lots of mike stern, miles Davis, pat metheny, Marcus Miller, etc). It's a very good way to spend my Sundays. I'm not allowed to post any recordings sadly, I just do it for my own enjoyment, and it's improved my mixing tremendously, sort of. The musicians are so good that there's very little needed in terms of mixing. I guess that's the lesson right there!
What Anickt said...it's absurd...Auria Pro is an absolute steal at that price, discount or no discoun .
Spot on.
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider of our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so.”
That's the right attitude for a seller, but I think some iPad customers are spoiled, unappreciative, and a tad unrealistic. The prices are favoring the buyer on this platform. I think that's why those who have invested in the program feel very annoyed that it gets criticized as too expensive. It's one thing to pay $65 (or whatever it is to upgraders) and say an app isn't worth the money. But what is it with people who haven't even used Auria Pro feeling the need to tell everyone the app isn't worth it? Auria Pro users want to tell these people, if the program isn't for you, if you don't want to spend another 15 bucks for a professional tool that took thousands of hours of development time, then just please go away. Not everyone is generous enough to say please, and I can understand the sentiment.
I don't see too many people saying at this point that it's not worth it, especially users. Let's keep trucking along. Hell, I'm even thinking of writing a song. Maybe. All good.
This.
Well this only shows how problematic it is to monetize sustainably in the App's business.
People have lots of expectations in that regard. Coming from the main DAW's for almost a decade I'm used to far more expensive upgrade paths with way less features as it is the case here.
I was happy enough to have been part of the beta team and i am glad I invested quite some hours into this app and I am enjoying my reward.
Apps of this size, quality and prize need a bit of time to develop commercially.
@johnfromberkeley Was thinking how much I'd like to be able to plus one your post (among many in this thread). Then I realized, I could! Because, Internet.
Yes, actual users don't seem to be griping about the price. There was a lot of flak when AP was released. Seems it's died down, but I just read a few comments on the Auria forum. "$90 is too much to fork out on an app. Ill pass." "I'm likewise. I got Auria, knowing full well that I would get more or less nothing done in Auria without MIDI..." blah, blah, blah. And the animosity towards these kinds of posts persists, so the subject is still a sore point for some people. I think there's a lesson to be learned from it, and maybe some customers will be more fair and realistic towards developers in the future if we make our point.
It occurred to me today that I once bought Logic Pro 9 about a month before X came out. Apple gave me no warning, offered me no special favors in upgrading. Not their fault; they didn't owe me anything. Just bad timing on my part. I ended up paying twice the price because it was worth it to me. I didn't go online and waste other's time complaining, trying to make Apple feel guilty (yeah, like that's going to happen taking away from Logic users interested in and excited about the new product. So I guess that's where I'm coming from.
Let's not attack people who have a different opinion. Let's be polite and just remind them that there are many factors contributing to price formation, and competition is one of them. It's an open market and if you are not happy with the price or quality, you are free to look around for better/less expensive options
.
Guess it's a combo of inherently low prices on IOS and the fact that many of us here make music as a hobby.
I'd say considered the global nature of the business only folks from poorer countries should ever be excused for complaining.
Of course it's a shame there are poorer countries and people, but I still haven't figured how iPads (and iPhones) are within the budget, but the ridiculously cheap apps aren't. And everything for sale online must be relatively expensive for those with less money. What is it about iPad apps that create such expectations? And why do people feel they have to buy a hundred music apps rather than simply spend what they can afford? It's not Auria's fault if iOS users blew their wad on other apps. At least these are some complaints I read. All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not an independent software developer trying to make a living at it.
Blimey, I saw Musucinclusives comment about getting the upgrade price wrong so thought I'd admit to doing the same, and big up Auria Pro and Rim at the same time. That's all, no need to bring my kids into it. I'll probably get banned again now - that'll teach me!
Happy Christmas, and get Auria Pro it's great!
uhm, what?Maybe my english is not good enough but now all others are the bad guys while you just"queried"the upgrade price?Really?I've read your comments and it was a"little"bit more than that. Can you not just stand by it if you screwed it up?More than one of your comments regarding the price was below the belt and i understand the harsh reaction of some people. Not saying i liked many of them but totally understandable.
I give up, you win. I'm the bad guy. Move on.
If you stop playing the victim card, then you and I have zero problems.
People who have a problem with what I wrote in this thread don't actually know what went on a couple weeks ago, so I can't blame them.
But if you want to keep trying to reopen something that has already been determined and settled by continuing to pepper your various recent comments with it, we can do that!
Or, we can get back down to making and discussing music and enjoying the holiday.
I felt Rim's tone was very much a conciliatory one, as was Monzo's reply.
Thank you very much, Rim & Team @WaveMachineLabs ... appreciated,
wishing you nice holidays, best regards, Crs
I did figure it out. As it stands iPad, iPod or iPhone are still the cheapest way of making electronic music while also having a device for other uses. Indeed after the initial investment the software prices are lower than the desktop counterparts.
When I got the email from Rim regarding this whole fiasco, I responded to it with essentially the same sentiments I expressed earlier in this thread. I just got an email from Rim thanking me. The simple fact that he took the time to respond directly speaks volumes.
@Paul: I guess your thanking me was inadvertently. I want to say that I did not partake in any shape or form in the making of Auria. It's the work of Rim Buntinas aka WaveMachine Labs.
