There will never be another artist like this. He has influenced so many for so long, his legacy will live on forever.
So out of nowhere and I too have feels...
Into the stardust...
The Berlin Trilogy and Labyrinth were always my favorite...
If you have the Low Lp play the side B and weep...
Amazing talent and a true chameleon as an artist. RIP Mr. Bowie.
Well done Mister Jones. A good life.
What?
Completely shocked.
I can't believe this. Feels like a piece of me is gone. So thankful to have had him and his music with me growing up.
Starting with Station to Station I started so many mornings with this.
'We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day'
RIP David Bowie, one of the brightest stars in the heavens.
Very sad, a true original.
I remember seeing him live at a Parkinson interview at the BBC. A colleague of mine at the time was a proper fan who used to follow him around the world on his tours got me a couple of tickets for the show. I'll never forget his performance of Life on Mars.
But the other thing I remember was how much of a gentleman he was. Even when the cameras weren't rolling he was joking around with the audience making sure they were entertained.
A proper star...
The art of song writing was enriched enormously by his contributions.
Here’s his finest — The Laughing Gnome
A great artist that broke so many molds and led the way for many others in music, art, and fashion. Gawd this is so sad...
Sad news - such an amazing and uncompromised talent to the very end...
Labyrinth was such a crazy cool movie too. I can still remember the first time I saw it.

There are cool clear vinyl editions of Blackstar, (but don't see them here),

Ziggy S Leaves Earth After Extending 5 Year Mission...
He's one of those people who you just assume will be here forever. The world seems a little different somehow for the better when he is part of it.
True this
Master showman til the end
Feel greedy for wanting more but I do anyways
i can't say I was ever the biggest Bowie fan growing up - but for some reason today I really feel a sense of loss unlike ever before for any other musician's passing. Last year I watched a documentary about him called "5 Songs" and it really made me appreciate him alot more than I did. This morning I just checked out his new video/song for "Lazarus" and I must say i really really love it (both the song and video are amazing!)
Was just struggling with what to choose. You nailed it. Thank you.
That's because they're clear.
Beck has already done the perfect eulogy/honor ceremony/celebration. (skip to 2:32)
Visconti says Blackstar was a gift to us, that he knew would be his swan song. It's a marvelous thing. A consummate professional, not content to deliver a project w/ 30 Pro Tools producers. Even with this diagnosis over his head, Bowie was jetting around NY to enlist young, vanguard jazz talent to help realize a vision. So classic. I wish Todd Rundgren put 1/10 of that effort into his current product.
Seems fated that he would go while he was still vital; still sharp. I can't see a 80 year-old, doddering Bowie.
RIP Bowie, Only the good die young. At least he was peaceful and with loved ones at the bitter end. I hope his new album is good.
That was perfect.
Some random fan summed it up best: If you're sad today just remember the world is over 4 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.
In regards to the thread title, I actually made an attempt to get through "Station to Station" a month ago through the Apple Music trial, and whereas I was liking it 8 years ago when I first got into Bowie's older catalogue of classics, it was striking me as very retro now and it was difficult to finish but I managed to push through.
I'm going to go back to the CD version as maybe the quality hit was taking a bite out of it for me, that said "Stay" continues to shine regardless.
I think the version of Station to Station on the "Serious Moonlight" video/recording is my favorite.
By the way, in case you were wondering, this is the song from which the thin white duke came:
