  • Very good/timely question. Please tell me how much you wish you'd been a little more circumspect and held off like those of us others who, you know, held off and only think about it two or three times day etc.

  • Nice on these old eyes. Worth it for that alone.

  • No regrets - loving it!

  • Loving it. It is the combination of having a device with more screen as well as it being more powerful than a Macbook Air that does it for me. As I can run Auria Pro nicely I'm happy, and now all the apps are getting there too. The only thing I'm missing, since I bought my new iPhone 6S+ is that my IPP don't have force touch, but hey, I do have the pencil which is amazing (and the logitech create keyboard, which right now isn't all that amazing since iOS 9.2, hoping the new update will fix it, 9.2 introduced latency to the keyboard).

If I didn't have an iPad Pro I'd buy one again.

  • I am a hardware guy and I actually produce tracks on physical gear. I record to a Fostex D2424LV and master to a Sony PCM-R500 DAT.

I am an android fanboy (and always will be) but picked up the iPad bug after seeing Artuia imini on a friends iPad. I was looking to update my tablet (had a nexus 9 lte) for a model with a bigger screen, when I saw the iPad PRO leaked.

Picked up the PRO on launch (128GB LTE) and since then I have purchased about 300 dollars worth of apps JUST for music!

I absolutely LOVE the PRO for its screen size and RAM. I've the apple pencil and it helps when tapping around in Auria PRO for example and just general screen browsing. I've the Logitech Create keyboard so the iPad looks like a 13 inch MacBook.

I picked up a 25 keyboard controller to carry along with me on trips, when at the office, etc.

The screen alone is worth it as mentioned. I am just gobsmacked at how real these apps are. My two fave old school apps are the CMI and Animoog.

  • I really like it for all the reasons mentioned in the above comments plus handwriting in Notion it's awesome with the pencil but some apps look weird and need an update to support the big screen.
Maybe not apps but at least I have seen 2 in-app-purchases exclusively for the iPad pro one of them was the "iPad pro pack" in multitrack studio, I don't know how the developers achieved that but it might be possible more exclusive things for it start to appear.

  • Auria/Auria Pro 2.03 will be fully optimized for iPad Pro.

Oh dear. You are turning into a very expensive (lovely) hobby :)

pluggining ears...la la la la la

  • I know what the specs say but is the functional processing power that much greater than the Air2? More specifically can it handle a CPU hog like Synthmaster and multi routes in AB without glitching? Again relative to the Air2.

  • I have no regrets either, love my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil!

  • I like it. I have to find a better case and probably get the keyboard for it.

  • Just thought I'd throw in the battery life for discussion. My pro seems to be behaving like all of my previous iPads, 9- 10 hours use for heavy non Audiobus/DAW constant use, down to around 7.5 hours really hammering it with the above said.
This seems pretty good to me especially with reports of the surface pro down to 4- 5 hours putting a DAW under pressure. Screen brightness really makes a difference, I'm at 60% slider. Side note: It's strange how none of the pro reviews have picked up on how crazy bright it is at 100%.
Charging in standby takes around 2.5 hours, not the 4 put out by some of the media (I don't think they understand indexing a new device!), but takes considerably longer when in use. It appears to be the same 12w charger going back to the ipad4, but for a bigger battery.

    That is just beautiful

  • What version Auria Pro is that? Will the detailed inserts in channel strips only display on iPad Pro or all versions?

  • That mixer is going to change my workflow.

That's the upcoming 2.03. Only iPad Pro. There's no way I could cram that much into a regular iPad. You'd never see it, let alone be able to press the buttons ;)

That's the thing about the current scaled up size on iPad Pro: when I first opened Auria on iPad Pro I thought it was great to have the larger faders and knobs etc. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a setting to toggle them back to the larger size?

There's definitely an eye/beholder thing going on there.

It's pretty close to one of my pictures of hell :)

  • A great option for the Pro would be able to scale the interface to your personal preference like in Ableton Live

  • I agree, for some situations it would be useful to have larger buttons and faders. But the full size iPP screenshot looks absolutely great.

That was my initial thought, having the two different displays as an option would be good if possible.

I still see some brand new iPad Pros 128GB WiFi for about 850€ (because they have an engraving from a german media company) and i still thinking about it. But then i can´t test it and send it back if it´s not my thing.
Beside a larger screen i´m still searching for more reasons.
When i save a project with 10 or more midi tracks in Auria and also using IAA apps, is it all saved when i open this project again or have i load in all IAA manually again?

All IAAs are restored when you open a project. But, due to the way IAAs work, settings are not restored on iAAs.

Woah....thank´s.... that sucks :( But i know that is Apple´s fault.
Not sure if i can live with such a workflow again ;)
