Also untrue. The cost of the Fabfilter Limiter alone on the desktop is around $200. For that on iOS you can get Auria Pro, the Fabfilter Limiter, Compressor and EQ, and still have change. All that would be between $800 and $1000 on the desktop.
Yes, I got educated on Auria yesterday already. Thanks.
I wish I had unlimited funds and time, as I'd play with more stuff. Less interested in Cubasis, because it just sounds like it fills the same niche as Auria. But it would be a lot of fun to go into something different like Sunvox or Gadget, and mess around. Perhaps after full retirement.
Rim has, with Auria, taken the approach that he wants to build a full fledged DAW, that offers as much as a desktop DAW does. The hardware presents challenges, especially when getting into using multiple copies of what are actually desktop synths and plugins. Are they al overkill? For most folks, probably. But, if you want that to use that level of complexity and quality, it's what's there.
For me there is no "vs" with any apps really as each seems to offer something different. I use Gadget and Cubasis...sometimes together. Auria is great, haven't gone to the Pro yet, Music Studio is still used on occasion as is GarageBand.
As to the OP: At the current sale prices, and if I were spending someone else's money, I would buy both.
I have pretty much all the DAW and DAW variations. I have Gadget and deleted it a long time ago, and reinstalled with this new update. At first I considered it a self-contained eco-system, (no IAA, or AB in) but the other DAWs can operate as self contained as well: Auria Pro, Cubasis, MTS, Caustic, all have enough onboard sounds to make whatever you want, especially with advent of AU.
They're all incredibly cool and do a ton for the price...
I think it comes down to which one you want to spend the hours with, because it takes hours to learn any of them.
Some need more time than others and to learn, and that depends on personal factors: experience with other software, predilections toward different control surfaces and GUI...
Personally I like the ones that took longer for me to learn, because I'm a nerd.
I'll refrain from mentioning Sunvox. Oops.

After you first posted this, its always in the back of my mind now. As Sunvox is daily open on the device(s)
Just bought Cubasis, am very impressed. I'm a keen Gadget user, but I'II look at anything that does the job - albeit in different ways. I like the interface and the included instruments (primarily) so far.
Just remember the sale ends today.
apples oranges
Which is why I love Gadget ;-)
