Same here, Alchemy completely crashes AUM, Cassini seems to have a stuck note that I couldn't get rid off.
iDensity emits loud noise with other apps.

I tried Alchemy, it works fine if you start it manually first and then load it into AUM. Make sure to choose the "Instrument" variant, and you can play it with the internal keyboard as well.

Some apps don't have the AUM logo to return back to it. Anyone knows?

    Already answered :)

(trying my best to keep up with all communication here, on twitter, email and facebook! soon going to tend to my forum, but will probably need a bit of sleep soon)

  • @j_liljedahl

Thanks for such a great app.

I tried to show my wife what all the fuss was about, but she said surely it can't be better than the smiley face I did with your beans on toast :p

Is there a way to save the MIDI configuration?

The MIDI config and control mappings are saved with the session: menu -> SAVE

There seems to be a problem with the AUFX bundle in the appstore at the moment.
When I Select it, the Buy button just disappears, and I can't go on.

There has been issues with other bundles recently. Anyone knows what's going on ?

I just bought the bundle here in the states and had no issues. They were downloaded within seconds...

Still no luck in the danish Appstore. Been like this for a couple af days now. Perhaps I should mention, that I own 3 of the 4 apps already, only missing PeakQ. Really sorry to bother you guys with this issue.

Hmmm... have several inter-audio apps that fail to load into AUM for some reason. They launch by themselves fine. I've done what the AUM screen suggests, ie. launch app, then double click home button, swipe to close, then reload.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling each app, as well as deleting AUM and reinstalling. No luck.

Also tried some of them on that are on the iPhone5 and they won't load there either, so it's not just my iPad Air2 install.

I've tried a hard reset as well with no luck.

The IAA that won't launch/load in AUM, do launch fine in AudioBus or solo.

The apps I've found so far that aren't loading in AUM are DFX:MultiFX, Samplr, Node Beat, and Gestrument

Also, I have 4 different synths. 3 of them will play through AUM's built-in keyboard but Synthcaster won't. I've checked to make sure the midi channel is correct, and tried all the other possible midi settings in AUM & Synthcaster but nothing seems to work.

Anyone else finding apps that work fine alone, or in AudioBus but consistently fail to launch within AUM?

I'm going to post this on the Kymatica forum, but @j_liljedahl doesn't appear to be tending it quite yet.

Just a quick note here: I've seen several IAA apps that don't correctly start their audio engine when launched in the background via a host app like AUM. In those cases, it often helps to make sure "background audio" is on in the other app, and to launch it manually and let it keep running while you load it into AUM.

"background audio" is set to "on" all all of them listed. Strange that they launch into AudioBus without having to pre-launch them.. but no big deal I guess.

Can't figure out how to get Synthcaster to play through the builtin keyboard. It shows AUM in it's midi settings and AUM shows Synthcaster in it's settings, so I know they're talking to each other... just can't get it to play.

No rush though... have a nice snooze and will check back later. Congrats and thx for an awesome app!

This the best implementation of AU yet, you can move the window easily around the screen and shrink the box size.

I was blown away by this.

    +1. I didn't own bitwiz or aufx:push yet. I do now. Just saying. ;)

  • Bitwiz is a great sound source

It's because Audiobus automatically switches to the app when you load it, and those apps only start their audio engine when coming to foreground, not when launched in the background via Inter-App Audio.

    I will, thanks :)

For those (like myself) who don't already have an AU app to try out, I picked up the "VoiceRack: FX" app. It's AU compatible. Works really well. It's for voice FX, but it has about 50 presets and many of them sound pretty cool on instruments.

It's also implemented well within the AUM interface with ability to fully control all your VoiceRack settings within AUM.

FYI: It's also Universal and only $1 :) Worth more I think.

  • loving this app a complete game changer imho

  • @j_liljedahl For the record (in case you're keeping it :)) I had no problem with loading/playing/recording/going happily mad with Alchemy. Get some sleep; busy day -again- tomorrow :)

  • Can't wait to get home and buy this. (4) pages already, and it's not even lunchtime where I live :)

Ok. Thanks. I use AUM as mixer controlled by a Beatstep for apps sitting in AB input. Works fine. Now AUM needs to MIDI learn again each time I change apps. Is that right?

Purchased it immediately! Congrats on the launch, @j_liljedahl !

Really impressed by the design of this app. Much like with AudioShare, it feels "reverse engineered" from the perspective of an iOS musician wondering "well, why can't there be a way for me to be able to do THIS?". Also similar to AudioShare, I think I'll still be learning new things that it does months from now...haha.

The recorder has some neat features - finally a metronome with count-in!!! And I absolutely love the MIDI keyboard, even on a small iPhone screen - worked immediately for me.

Was "Sync Quantum" discussed anywhere? You set it to a number of bars, but I couldn't see if that did anything other than change the speed of the visual "loop" indicator bar near the top of the screen.

Is there a way to set the recorder only to record a pre-determined loop length?! That was one of the key things I always wished AudioShare did, but instead I had to use the snap trim feature to cut the loops down to size. Recording a set number of bars would make this insanely useful for loop recording, and with AUM (even more than AudioShare), now you seem to have the architecture to do it.

    Thanks!

Agree on the metronome! Also very interested in the ability to record pre-determined loop lengths....I am not a 'live' player and I have next to no idea what I'm doing (so far), but this is going to ruin any prospect of getting work done this morning :)

Very, very interested to know what Mister @supadom makes of this....

So far not for me. The fact that I'd need to use Audiobus in order to record into loopy is a downer in my particular case. I will keep it on my iPad as one never knows, sometimes fiddling with things brings new ideas.

The thing is I don't have much time for fiddling right now and rather than learning a new system I'd rather focus on sculpting my musical direction rather than the technological innards.

Would be interesting to see what you'd do with it and whether it will lead you to some inspiration for sounds for your loopy videos.

I like it, but not for the reasons I thought I might. Blundering, but then that is my workflow. Often find myself hearing 50,000 football fans singing you don't know what you're doing and know it's not really the ref they're serenading... all good.

Thank you for this awesome tool, I'm really enjoying it.

    1. How do I do a mono recording? I'm trying to record my bass and I'm only given the option of choosing a stereo pair of inputs?

It was answered recently in another question, but check the effect list -> Stereo Processing -> Stereo to Mono, to pick only left or right input!

    1. What the best way to use the keyboard of one program (Musix Pro) to control iSEM or equivalent sound generator?

If you can get the other app to send to its virtual midi port, then connect that port to iSEM in the MIDI Matrix in AUM (menu button -> MIDI ROUTE).

    1. Does the limiter introduce latency?

Yes, the limiter is lookahead so it introduces the same amount of latency as the attack parameter is set to.

    1. Any plans to include pads or landscape keyboard in iPhone?

I have some vague ideas about it, yes :) But can't guarantee it will be soon!

would be nice to have an big xy pad that locks to notes and scales too...... this is seriously dope JL, making the iPad feel less challenging, less wrestling going on...you're making the overall experience better danke gracias thanks, arigato

I agree with this, although the things that AUM does so well are things that I've wanted out of AB/MiMix but could never get to without the same "technology overhead crushing the musical journey". I suspect the "last mile" issues, especially with Loopy, can be worked out by clever people in time.

  • Kymatic schemes keep my dreams from becoming a mess

    Congrats, @j_liljedahl!

  • I'm in the "buy anything from Kymatica" crowd because AudioShare is so essential to everything I do music-wise on my iPad.

But AUM is extraordinary on its own merits: another essential "glue" app that will make so many things easier to do, as well as introducing all sorts of creative opportunities. (And it's a steal at its intro price).

  • Thanks so much for including a smart file player integrated with AudioShare. I have gigs of drum loops stored in AudioShare, and now it's dead simple to load one up, match tempo, and begin laying down ideas that can be brought into Auria with a couple taps. Awesome!

Finding the keyboard really really useful so I can ply synths while beat makers keep the rhythm. More love for this app the more I use it :))

  • Can't seem to solo a bus track, no sound. I have two kicks playing from file player on separate tracks, each going into 'Mix to bus A' and then another Channel set to 'receive from bus A' but soloing this track gets no sound. Muting mutes it so that works, What am I doing wrong?

  • There are a couple of short demo videos on YT. Not real helpful though. Is anyone aware of others out there?

  • @heavybeats it appears that soloing the bus track will end up muting the source channels, so it seems thats you can't really solo a bus. You may have spotted the first bug I've seen.

@j_liljedahl one for the bug list perhaps?

It is also quite possible that I just don't know how "solo track" is meant to work...

  • AUM notes:

    • confirmed multiple instances of Voice Rack: FX can be loaded as AUx plugins in iOS 9.
    • 2 instances immediately brought CPU from 3% to 29%.

That is a fairly heavy load, do the Blamsoft AUx effects operate more efficiently?

  • This was worth it just to be able to multitrack on my iPhone. And damn, it's a beautiful thing. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to either delete an insert after I have put one in, or reorder them, both rather essential. This will not be the center of my recording universe, but it's a lovely thing for doing sketches on the phone. Now I just have to decide if I'll buy Kymatica's effects, which is actually a no brainer, as they sound like they're good, and the group price is cheap. I'm also still missing essentials like being able to edit audio files. I know I can buy more stuff, but I have Auria Pro, and it does it all in spades. Still, all in all, I like how this is going. It's a different concept, trying not to be all things to all people, but being the glue in the middle.

Missing essentials - audio editor? Get Audioshare - it's pretty much perfect and integrates with AUM. I've got mine loaded up with several gigs of loops and samples - sitting by ready to trigger now in AUM. That is a great thing in itself

I have AudioShare. It's a great little app. But it's only a basic Audio Editor. I regularly split/trim/stretch/splice and otherwise fold and mutilate in Auria Pro. I think there are some other apps like Caustic, maybe, that do that level of manipulation.
