what the f*ck is wrong with iBooks now?It asks you if you want to use iCloud the first time you open it on 9.3 and after pressing"yes"i could watch most of my library disappearing into cloud nirvana and i couldn't do anything.Had to (dropbox)import most of my stuff again.
I also got that prompt on both my iPad and iPhone. However, all worked just fine when I agreed to use iCloud.
The only issue I immediately saw after updating to iOS 9.3 was that the YouTube app disappeared from my iPad. After rebooting the device, it was back again.
I had the same issue at first but could activate the iPad a day later. Apparently Apple servers were too busy to handle all the activation requests, an Apple support guy told me. He said best advice is to wait a few days with updating or not try updating during rush hours.
I think it has nothing to do with the servers because only some models are affected. A friend of mine managed to activate his new iphone and ipad w/o any problems but can't activate his older iphone.
Same story with my iPad 2: tried activating it multiple times during different hours of the day - still no luck. When I connect it to iTunes, it says it can't verify my device which is really weird. The worst part is that when not activated, it's just a useless piece of metal and glass
The good thing is that after restoring 9.2.1 I have extra 2 GB of free space - for a 16GB model it's a huge deal
I had this problem also with only one device, an iPad mini first gen. It would not activate, even after many many tries and also not even through iTunes, same as you describe. But then, 10 hours later or so it worked.
So yes, might still be something different in your case but since iPad 2 and mini 1 are very similar specs I thought it might be a related issue.
@pichi > ...How about iFunbox for this update?
... functional.
For me in 9.3. everything works as good (or bad) as before. IPhone 6S plus.
O.k. my iPhone says now that my macbook pro is not suported when i try to connect them via bluetooth. I´m on Yosemite!
Airdrop doesn´t work too (but already since iOS 9.2. for me).
So does that mean apple bother me to upgrade to El capitan or what?!?
What is f....... wrong with them. All this bla bla bla but even their own devices want talk to each other..... which works fine some months (and iOS updates before).
I wanted to import some samples via airdrop into Mitoynth to make some new patches but this f..... me up so badly that i don´t get what the f..... is going on with Apple.
I´m on a rant while have fever..... so forgive me.... but ..... WTF!!!!!!!!!
@Cinebient Why not install 10.11.4 now that they seem to have fixed all the bugs?
Isn't that too early to say? It's a 6GB update which takes the whole day for me and i don't like apple to bother me for major updates to get things back which worked before.
Sadly there is no way of course to go to iOS 8 on my iPhone!
However, the whole Apple universum is really bullshit these days.
Still stuck with them because i like and learned Logic Pro X with all the goodies. But sure they will break it too with a coming update
Is Apple the new windows yet???
Edit: Just for the fun of pain i started the update.... just hope it doesn´t break too much plug-ins and/or slow down my system..... fingers crossed!
interesting. Please explain more about this. Is there a way to upgrade to 9.3 then revert to an older version? I'm on 8.4.1
@Munibeast - I currently still use Mountain Lion on my main studio Mac. It's rock solid and all my devices are supported in a functional way. That has not been true in that setup under Mavericks or Yosemite (both of which I've tested via an external boot drive) and since it is a functioning and working system I won't update it until I am certain I can without glitches. Even to El C.
Further, I have investment in "legacy" hardware that is simply not supported officially beyond ML. There is a workaround, that might work, but it's a kludge. It appears to work in Yosemite, (but, then, Yosemite was throwing audio glitches with the exact same aggregate hardware that works fine under ML - sigh), but I haven't tried it with El C. No the manufacturer is not going to support anything beyond ML for this "ancient" 2007 hardware (did I say Legacy? I meant reasonably recent!!! - yeah - that's the throwaway society we live in for audio gear that costs $1000s. But, believe it or not, some of us can't afford to replace that gear, and why would I - it works fine and is absolutely rock solid and does the exact job I want it to do. I love it! )
So, I am not going to ditch that hardware that I use every day. Until I have a stable working environment under El C, (if ever), then I won't be updating from ML - even to Yosemite. And, making sure that I have a stable working environment takes time out of production work. So, it will only be possible to test in some other downtime period.
Now, on a Macbook I run Yosemite, and that works - with more limited hardware - and I have an external boot drive to El C for development. Sure, I'll update that. But there are critical paths.
Same with iOS. I have not yet updated my main workhorse iPad from 7.1.2 in spite of my positive tests above. I will likely do that now that 9.3 appears stable per my tests on my test equivalent iPad, but I would not have changed and did not change what was working and relied on for something that was flakey.
Same on the desktop.
In this case, sadly, we are at a place where I find myself saying: "If it ain't broke, don't let Apple try and fix it." (At least, not without a lot of bother until it becomes stable again... )
Audiocopy is not crashing for me in Samplr now, wasn't > @Hmtx said:
I'm pretty sure if you backup your entire ipad to computer before updating, you can restore to that ios if it was with a previous ios, but can't be 100% sure since I haven't done it for a while. Anyone else confirm this?
Has been working wonderfully for me since the update. I am very, very happy about this!
google suggests you are right. this is good news. iOS 8.4.1 is working overall great and I want to test out some AU apps but I don't want to be stuck with 9.3 if it breaks other things.
Yep so far only found a few niggles with some apps
At least it's possible to clone the working system on the Mac. So I just cloned my previous install and updated to the latest. If there's something wrong I can always clone it back. If only we could do the same with iOS devices...
Indeed @Munibeast
My mini2 now on 9.3 is working well.
The wake on Smart Cover open still has the no show volume bar problem. So I use the pwr button.
Os seems quicker overall.
I feel you, man! In 2000 I bought a Yamaha setup (digital Mixer and two Audio Interfaces, 24 channels), which promised remote control/interfacing/mixing all at once with the then new "mlan-protocol" over firewire. Only a few years later they "fused" with Steinberg and decided to change their proprietary protocol, which finally led to not being able to use any of the setup with 64bit OS's... . I kept one of my machines on Snow Leopard, just to be able to use it further on. It's still a great setup, and I will keep bying older Macs for a long time, so I can play with it even after said Mac has died. Anger-stipulating, that is!
Keep on, cheers, t
Ha! @animal - you know what the Yosemite workaround is for my "legacy" hardware? Use the Snow Leopard drivers - they work!
Sigh.
Oh my-!

If I understand this stuff correctly, you won't be able to revert back to 8.4.1. You can only downgrade to the previous version (9.2.1 at the moment) and only during the first week or two after the release of 9.3. Then they will stop signing iOS 9.2.1 meaning iTunes will not let you downgrade to the previous version
True
This is where I was coming from on my post to this thread. I would be pissed if I updated from 8.4 where everything I need and use is working great to 9.3 and then have problems I didn't have before.
Derek's testing is appreciated...it seems it's getting there, nearly. Although my Air 2 is pretty much just for my studio stuff and my smartphone handles web browsing at night, Amazon visits, etc. I will use the Air 2 occasionally outside music work and I've started to notice a lot of apps going 9.0 or higher only on their updates. Chrome is one. Plus there are several music apps that are now 9 & above only.
I am still going to hold my breath I think. The "if it ain't broke what are you fixing" mindset is still there for me...
If you are already on 8 or earlier 9 @JRSIV I am pretty confident that 9.3 will be an improvement over anything in those releases. That's both from Moog's testing, iConnectivity's testing, my testing and a little inside information from Apple-connected folks about what's changed in terms of problems that were present in 8 and earlier 9.
The question is whether it is better than 7.1.2 with older ipas, and the tests I did indicated that yes it was - for 64-bit hardware.
So, your call and YMMV, but once I've given it a few days of hammering with various things, I am pretty likely to update that other mini 2 7.1.2 workhorse to 9.3 as well.
Bottom line, on 64-bit hardware I'm at a point where I don't see the need to hold out at this point, whereas prior to 9.3 it was a pry-7.1.2-from-my-cold-dead-hands scenario
32-bit hardware (mini 1 / iPad 2, iPad 3 for example) OTOH still seems to do better with 7.1.2 and older ipas. I updated one mini 1 and tested as I said and it was worse not better than 7.1.2 (I have another mini 1 that I have kept on 7.1.2 and will likely continue to keep on 7.1.2 for the foreseeable future).
Hope that helps your decision making process.
Anyone on an iPAd 4 try it yet?
So far, so good. But I'm still on an iPad Mini 2 and expecting it to strain too hard in the near future.

From what I can see around the forums Focusrite interfaces still have latency problems with 9.3, however there is a workaround which is to plug and unplug some headphones into the iPad headphone jack to restore low latency, so I'm considering upgrading from 8.4.
