Interesting - it works as expected for me. What is happening?

No idea. Just put Animoog with RP1 on ch1 track, then change RP1 with delay sync button. The Animoog can never get back to IAA track with sound passing to Mod.

I had to reboot the iPad. This RP1 crash and malfunction problem already happened on 3 RP1 consecutive updates.

I see. Enabling sync does it for me as well. Time to contact the dev.

  • How come the Viking AU synth is still not supporting its presets to Modstep?

Ok, my mistake! I got the Viking presets system.

  • I have found when I have the Viking cutoff cc modulating on real time, there is no cutoff effect on it.

I have to press stop and start again to hear the filter effect on. IAA synths are not acting this way. Anyone has any idea?

  • Can't find the new templates, are they supposed to be included? I know you can download them from the website though....

    @Carnbot,

I can not help. I intentionally delete the old Modstep for installing the new one. So I see the new CC presets there. Maybe updating it can not install them to the updated Modstep.

I see the reason why! iSem AU synth can be modulated real time.

It is Blamsoft Viking AU synth not supporting this feature. Hoping developer get Viking fixing.

Ok thanks, yes I updated so that must be it.

  • Well hello Circuit template! Xoxo

I see the volume increase improvement on both internal additive synth and sampler. Some added new buttons there. E.g. Volume % button, volume db button, pitch button, fx button and initial db on ADSR graph.

Really got good sounds environment now internally speaking.

By ticking 'Show Enter Clip Shortcut' on 'setting page' first, now the main theme center top square window can command any track scene start and stop.

With first long press on top center window to select/choose any track scene, then a short press that window again to start or stop that particular scene. A very nice new feature.

Couldn't love it more! iSem with sampler synthbass drum pad too awesome on zero reverb.

I guess Gadget players can do many kind of midi arping, sequencing, ChordPolyPading, and modulation.

Haha, Gadget's best friend. Good night to everyone.

    Thank you, Modstep. <3

  • Thanks @Kaikoo2 , the delete/reinstall did it for me too...all is there...

And BIG thanks to ModStep devs for update...have nice weekend everyone :)

Do I have this right? This is one gadget per Modstep song, right? If I use the Tokyo drum machine, the Dublin synth can't be on another track, can it?

Gadget supports seperate midi channels per track. so no. you can have upto 16 different tracks accepting even if you only use gadgets ports. if you use modsteps as well thats 32 tracks.

I'm a bit swamped with work currently but when i get the free time i'll be making a video of songwriting in modstep using just Suggester, Thumbjam, Step Poly Arp and Gadget. basically Arps Arps and more Arps. You'll be able to see how i route midi in that video. maybe it will help you finally understand midi.

Sensei, I feel I am nearly there.

  • Quick question in this update is APP presets available in AU.

  • @ExAsperis99, I don't own Gadget, so I could be steering you wrong, but I believe that gadget can have a separate MIDI channel for each of it's instruments. If so, you can set up each of ModStep's tracks to send to a different MIDI channel, so I think you should be able to play more than one Gadget track at a time.

Using the IO settings for each track (vertical column) in ModStep, you would set up Gadget as the Output, and pick a separate MIDI channel number for each. Then in Gadget you would set the corresponding MIDI channel for each instrument. That's as far as I'm going to guess as far as the Gadget side of things though.

    +1 please :)

  • Did a little test last night...3 tracks (built-in sampler, Viking, DRC)...Modstep crashed. Still a very frustrating experience, but I'll see if perhaps deleting and reinstalling the app helps in this regard too.

i'll be brutally honest here. I pretty much use mod step as a midi source/routing hub only precisely because of the crashing. AUM is a much better place to put IAA's and AUs. most effective combo is Modstep for Midi, 8 Audiobus multiouts into Aum for IAA+ state saving, and Au's hosted in Aum. best of all 3 worlds really.

  • Yeah, I'm more inclined to use it with AUM. I was interested to see if IAA and AU hosting had been improved, as I still would prefer everything to be done all in one place. Perhaps it'd be better to hope for @j_liljedahl to (one day) introduce a simple IAP clip launcher - much like Infinite Looper - into AUM ;)

  • Still buggy as hell iPad 1 latest IOS. :# I have to close down Modstep every time I record a track now. It actually feels worse, now before the update I managed to record 3 tracks before it won't let me record, before closing/restarting the app to record a track. Also When I've recorded a track the IAA loads up I've chosen. But no sound(only the internal Modstep sounds). Sometimes I cannot understand why some people iPads work, & some don't? I've deleted Modstep, then reinstalled it. Even Delete, then rest the iPad before reinstalling. Same problem...... Considering all iPads & the operating is exactly the same all over the world & parts are from the same factory. Which all quality controlled, and Passed by Apple. Also all app are tested and Approved by Apple before it's officially release to the public....... By Apple........... This should not happen. That's why Apple wants us to update to the latest IOS(with preferably with the latest machines)......It not like it a Windows machine, where some PCs are made in China(iPads/iPhones)some made in UK, U.S.A, India, Korea, Japan, etc. PC Components are made anywhere in the world, when there thrown together & hope for the best, it works?...........None of us should have these problems on IOS. If we do have these problems, then we will all have the same. Sorry, but getting a little frustration out here. This a good app, but the problem is making me........ Well........... A tad annoyed.......... :( Anyway, now calmer, now going to do some Jazz House tracks with Auria Pro...... <3

  • Sorry iPad Air 1. With latest IOS...... Not iPad 1. :p

  • studs, sleepless:
Could you send us the crashreports please? And maybe give us an exact step by step guide to get to these crashes? We don't have any of these issues when testing ourselves (apart from the typical IAA woes once in a while)
But we did hear of others having issues when using DRC.

studs: What do you mean you need to close modstep to record a track? How would it not let you record prior?

  • @cblomert ...please...nice update but...

The 0db in sampler is way too low to be "0db", compared to other apps...
ModStep lacks the VOLUME FIX ....2 updates later, still isn't fixed?

    THANKS...
