  • Whut? No MIDI?

  • many thanks @BitShapeSoft a great update. :)

Can I put a vote in for a "hold" feature. Would work great especially in use with multiple patches. Take a look at Shoom for it in use effectively. My first thought when playing with it was I wished it was also in TC-11 and TC-data

  • Thank you so much for iPhone support!!! One of my favorite apps that I really wish I could get to know better. So having it on my 6s is perfect!

Does this have proper IAA instrument support (so that it can be played from a piano roll) and also have a transport?

  • @Carnbot, second vote for a hold feature. TC-11 now has the best apple pencil implementation I'm aware of in a music app.
wonder if ipad pro supports two or more pencils :p

Correct answer: What is no MIDI?

  • this is a musical instrument of the highest calibre! outstanding!

3rding a request for a robust hold feature

  • No midi because if you control it from a external controller you will kill it. If you want to use it as a controller there is tc-data. A tempo sync function of any kind would be great tho. And probably separate outputs could also be a useful feature, specially in a live situation.

'Hold' is great with multiple notes on arpeggio.

1 - 4 IAA output ports? on AUM. That is wonderful, but I am embarrassing to ask. :*

Hold would be a great feature for drone notes, especially now with the multiple screens. Great suggestion!

  • Dang it. Just bought this because I thought it had midi. I love TC-performer & bought all the patches & transpose. How is this different if it doesn't have midi?

You can design and create patches of your own or change the current ones.

Just had a quick play. Hadn't noticed the edit button with sequencer, modules, etc. will have to explore it later. In the desert & low on battery power at the moment.

At first it looked like it was the same as TC-performer only it includes all the patches & transpose. Those edit features look fun. :)

There's a huge synth engine under the hood which you can design patches in, it's a steal at this price :)

  • Yes, this thing is a monster. The multi-view may finally get me to devote time to the editor. It's daunting, but the possibilities are so great now. If it could only get midi/Link and per-screen gesture recording a la iDensity I could remove so many apps from my devices.

  • Awesome. Multimode looks very cool, and very fitting for this app, can't wait to try it.

Hold touches with 4 split screens on 4 AUM ports with fx on 4 iPad Pro with Ableton linking apps equates to 16 instruments controls. That will make wonderful personal concert.

Yeah no kidding. It will be a little while yet, though.

TC-11 doesn't run on MIDI, so it won't load into an instrument slot. But it does have Audiobus (of course) and IAA for recording. It also supports state saving.

Ah, OK. So it is meant mainly as an instrument to be played live..

    ???

  • @Audiojunkie the category was, "Audiobus Forum posters expect Quality Control in all their significant relationships". I can't recall how much the question was worth but the correct response was, "What is no MIDI?".

  • Multi mode is sweet! Thank you!

I've only used TC-11 for one project, and one of the main reasons is that I couldn't find a straightforward way to set a bpm tempo on patches that use the Sequencer.

For example, Spyroid was the patch I wanted to use, but I could find no way to set bpm. The tempo could only be adjusted via "Hz". Meanwhile other patches like Rubber Break have a way to adjust the Sequencer rate via bpm. Is there some secret method I don't know about in order to be able to change the rate setting from Hz to BPM?

This looks like a cool update, but if we can't have tempo sync, the number 1 update feature I wish for would be a clear and easy way to set global BPM on all patches (and scale/key). Maybe it's there, but I'm not seeing it.

  • app crashes when started via AUM. works fine if you start it separately first.

also, the app crackles a bit here and there when navigating settings and changing patches on my air2...

  • To change the hz to bpm in the sequencer, tap on where it says hz in the list - Rand, Ramp, Set etc. Under the hz are note divisions. Choose one of these (perhaps quarter notes) and the Rate (hz) becomes bpm.

  • Also, you can set the key of the patch in the Utiilities, Transpose option. Chose a key, then press Set Key.

Excellent! Thanks, Fitz! Figured there must be a way.

  • Not wanting to let the creative flow get bogged down on this problem, my workaround was to just record some phases at the default setting and then adjust tempo/pitch in my DAW. Still worked out. You can check out the end result, my one and only attempt to tame the wild and wooly TC-11, at this link.

  • Thanks for all the comments, all! Some answers:

Link / Clock Sync: yes, it's on the list; it'll get in there eventually. It's a significant feature in a new project I'm working on, and it'll be rolled into TC-11 when the time comes.

Hold: this one is complicated. Remember that the synth voices are not on-screen objects, but instantaneous reactions to your touches. There is nothing to leave in place.

I could find a way to make the touches stick, but how would you initiate that vs. normal performance? how then do you stop them? If you're first reaction was to add a bar / button to the performance screen, you don't know how protective I am about my interface. :)

I've thought about using MIDI CC 64, but I doubt many people would care enough to hook up an entire interface just for a sustain pedal.

Finally, you can just program what you want into the patch! Take a look at Chordy, for example. That pattern will just keep going forever, but I fade it out with an AHDSR. Take that out, and it'll hold indefinitely. You can do the same with individual voices.

Or better yet, use one of the Group triggers, like '5 Touch Chord' to start / stop the group of notes. Then you can continue to change the voices around until you stop them with the trigger.
