Do you know if Launchpad now allows for importing of samples or not?
Not yet. I used Audioshare as my midwife. But I do think we are headed to that exchange soon.
Thanks, this update finally made me buy the Audio-import-option, because of tempo manipulations and link (which also makes slooooow tempos possible now, very important!, cause everything needs to be slooooowed down nowadays...).
Great that could be of help! Looking forward to enter in the Hall of Fame of your tech threads!
Great update but seems that my iPad 2 is too slow for the new version. I can't get it to work without crackling and stuttering. The previous version used to work just fine.
Maybe it's time to update the compatibility section in the app description
Hey @yug, we're looking into this now. Our developers actually use iPad 2s to develop our apps, in order to encourage support even down to even these slow devices. Having said that, we're looking into this, and shall report back.
You can import samples via audiocopy or dropbox, you need the audio import IAP for this though, and currently it is only available on iPad not iPhone.
With regard to Blocs Wave you can send an individual loop directly to Launchpad using the copy to function in the individual pad export, if you use the global share (icon top right in wave) then you can export all loops in a section as a zip file to audioshare, extract this to dropbox and then import into launchpad in bulk.
Perhaps the WWDC announcement of Apple File system would facilitate the removal of the need for sending between the apps completely!
No you can't use the app as a control surface as far as I know.
I guess you could say that, but in reality it now has a brand new audio engine which was needed for Link, and that Engine was written by Novation, meaning they can now provide the same level of support for Launchpad that we have come to love from Blocs Wave , For me this is the 'hidden' feature that makes this release so important.
If I recall correctly, I didn't need dropbox because I used "Open In" from Audioshare.
Does open in from AS allow you to import all samples in the zip file in bulk ? - Cool if it does, one less step
Great, thank you.
I also noticed that the app size is now about 25% of what it used to be. And I like it but am a bit curious about what's changed
@Launchpadforios If I were to purchase one of the FX IAP will I have access to the entire row of FFX slots, or will it keep prompting me to buy, buy, buy!? I also would like to know if you do live recording sampling into one of the launched boxes?
@AndyPlankton I shall resume using the Duet app that beats every control surface out there in terms of flexibility and price Screenshot from my iPhone. I sometimes use it for a transport controller.
It is a new audio engine, that is probably the reason for the reduced size.
No direct recording into Launchpad, use Blocs Wave for that and then send to Launchpad once you have tailored your recording. Use Link to sync the two apps.
I think he meant he wants it on the fly
I love blocs wave and just downloaded this for the first time tonight... It's damn good too! Thanks again guys
@Launchpadforios @AndyPlankton I see the latest Blocs sound pack is geared more towards ambience, soundscapes, and experimental. I hate the "trap packs" "or any genre pack in general. I am a sucker for the Ambient textural sounds. If I was evil I would just sample the ones you let us listen to and manipulate them, but I'm not a piece of shit , so I will buy ONE pack in the launchpad. I am working on a massive guitar based track right and one pack in particular stood out for me.. You should put together a pack of only acoustic guitars, bass riffs, harmonics, ambience, electric guitar, DI with reverb, and the list goes on. I have Gravity loaded up right now for Kontakt and I'm routing it into the Kaos, and blocs .
They have a pack like this over on the retronym store for MPC and TableTop, but that app is far to glitchy for me to trust.
Thanks for the 'Big up' but I am not involved in Blocs or Launchpad just a passionate user
I was just including you in the conversation brother, as am I. I will create a track and bounce it to sound cloud later. I'm mixing it with one of the packs they have with my equipment, and samples. Loaded all of old guitar files into blocs and it broke the app. I literally had to reinstall the damn thing.
I realized that for some odd reason i had 26,000 iTunes wav files which were hogging up all of my space which was about 16 gigs. I think I synced the iPad one time and it chose to sync a sample library from native instruments. Don't ever do that.
What happened to blocs ? Fail to start ? Let them know if you can, they'll want to know in order to fix it if it is caused by a bug.
No probably not a good idea on just 16gb, same size here, have had to juggle stuff about several times
pretty sure whatever engine tweak they did in the recent updates broke 32bit ipad support. it seems like ipad2-4 are all having various issues.
@AndyPlankton It's never a good idea and that's why I never have music on my iPads anymore. I have a 64 gig 4th, and was importing my own wav files and it told me I have no space left. I haven't used my iPad to actually put music on the library in ages. My sprint update allowed me to get a 128 gig 6s at no extra cost. In fact i am saving money from when I had a POS galaxy s3 for three years.
Ahhj I see, you filled it up, I thought you meant the app broke and needed a re-install.
Nice
I'm guessing the new engine is based on the Blocs Wave one. Do you have issues with Blocs Wave too ?
They have said they use iPad 2 for development, rest assured that they will fix it.
Since the sections update to blocs my ipad3 can't even run 5 blocs before becoming unresponsive. And opening any bloc.the edit screen can take upto 10-15 seconds to display a waveform. Considering I could jam for hrs with 3-4 second waveform loading it's a considerable performance hit.
The iPad 3 is actually worse than the ipad2 they use to develop. I'm just a bit afraid they might abandon it completely.
