That's a really nice suggestion!
Yes I love the sounds this app can make. I know you said it's unavoidably a way off but when this becomes an AU, it will be at the top of the iPad synth tree.
Desktop and iOS AU are in the list. Couldn't make it happen yet. Sorry!
DRC is a great little app.
I think that the developer's dedication alone is enough to garner my full support.
I enjoy having this app mostly as a sequenced synth for melodic or percussive tuned mayhem.
I also appreciate it is Universal.
There is really no excuse for ALL apps to be Universal. It Gadget is Universal, so goes the world.
Agreed that AU would make this instabuy for many IMHO. I loved this synth so much I immediately bought the vst. Great work, amazing sound. Will be disigning patches when I find time.
I really love this synth! It has such a warm analog character to it and its so simple to tweak. Love the strings and pads that can be made in DRC. A must have synth IMHO.
How about a compromise? If Wales beat Portugal the manual stays online only. If Portugal beats Wales then in celebration you agree to try and ensure the latest manual is updated at least once a quarter?
First of all I need to actually finish the manual. There aren't things covered yet. I have so many things and requests to handle that I order them by priority, by the way, you have a few requests on the list @JohnnyGoodyear!
But hey! For those who speak english natively I would really appreciate help in writing the missing parts of the manual!
I'm currently testing version 1.0.5. The main changes for this version are:
I think it is time to make this widely available but for that I need to ensure that everything is working properly. I have been merging many of the things that have been developed to DRC to a common source tree shared across my other apps. Sometimes small details escape during this processes that why beta testers feedback is so crucial. If you are not a beta tester yet and you wish to become one, please send me a private message with your email.
Looking forward to hear your feedback!
Agree with the "warmth" comment. I'm no pro at working with synthesis, and DRC probably lacks the depth of a lot of the popular synths I already have, but that's probably some of the appeal of it for me. I did the one week trial during a week in March, but I didn't think I needed it for $15. It was a no-brainer when they dropped it on sale for $1.99.
Feels almost like a throwback to when they had to design apps for a iPhone 3G-sized screen and you had to make buttons larger and more economical to work on that layout.
I think I actually like the labeled key names for notes on touchscreen, also. I have a little piano background, so I know what the keys are on an actual keyboard, but if you mess with that at all for ribbon layout and change the colors, I'm pretty lost.
It is in my top 3 - and it is never #3. It is one of the analouges that can punch.
I would like to hear what somebody like Lewis Fautzi would get out of it.
Can I sign up for the beta?
Thanks for your help. Send me a private msg with your email!
Sorry, I couldn't figure out the sense of this sentence. Can you please explain to me?
I am a creature of convenience.
I just want my synth to open up to the last synth configuration I played. Please? I hate opening to the default.
As far as the sounds? Top notch synth. I would like some really quirky effects to set it apart from the others.
Oh and randomizers are always welcome.
I love DRC but it doesn't play well with Modstep. Please fix DRC and modstep
Version 1.0.5, currently in beta testing had last state persistence. Wanna test? Send me a private message with your email.
I have a lot of complain in that direction. Please provide the most simple situation that fails so I can reproduce and fix. Also, please list the problems your are having. Be specific! This is crucial for fixing.
@sinosoidal I still have the 'classic' IAA-Loading issues with Cubasis. Ie. need to start DRC first before attaching to Cubasis. I'll give (time permitting) a test run of DRC with ModStep and the other IAA hosts I have and see which work and which don't. If DRC is already running it's more likely to attach correctly but if the host needs to start the app/node it's a hit / miss...
Ok, this has definitely become a priority fix! Get me all the info you can regarding IAA loading problems.
I don't know how much of it's activities DRC 'logs', maybe it gets a reply from the host?
It's most of the time the 'host' that bails when it fails to load a node.
(In the case of Cubasis it just jumps back to the home-screen if DRC is not running).
Launching DRC first and then attaching it to ModStep works.
But ModStep is unable to launch DRC.
The circle just spins but at least the app doesn't bail out like Cubasis.
So I suspect there is something in the ModStep logs that could tell us what is happening?
(I've got no 'crashlogs' from ModStep on my device so I can't check).
I'm submitting a new beta with a new requested feature: the ability to toggle which midi devices are active or not under midi settings.
@samu, thanks for your feedback. I will run some tests regarding IAA loading on Modstep tomorrow.
When I went for testing newer Modstep beta, the loading issue is improving, at least it reloaded on the slot with icon there when reopen the Modstep new beta.
If you guys hurry the IAA loading issue to Nuno, perhaps this coming fix is too early to tell.
Nuno, please fixing this later. Modstep has quite an internal hosting changes I can not and don't know how to comment. Only Mod developers knows their own app.
There is an IAA issue between current Cubasis (1.9.9) and DRC too.
We do not have any date as to when the next Cubasis 2.0 will be out but I guess within a month or so...
AUM is generally more stable at launching and loading IAA nodes than other hosts.
Just for fun I tested an old classic I have on my iPad (Yamaha Music Mobile Sequencer) and it launched and loaded DRC without any problems.
I do have a question around the 'Connection' panel in DRC. Is it for BT keyboards? (Don't have any so can't test).
I agree with @Kaikoo2. I cannot tell the problem is on my side because it works well on some apps and on some devices. That's why I need more information. I would prefer to postpone this issues to version 1.0.6 because there are some interesting features and fixes waiting to be released on version 1.0.5
By the way, sorry about build 32 of DRC. I have uploaded it to TestFlight and not even tested it. I was rushing to watch the game. I'm uploading a fixed version. I don't know what happened. Just made a clean build and will upload.
@Samu, the new connection menu item will allow remote connection to a DRC instance on the same wifi network via Bonjour. Not really useful in a iOS to iOS situation, but it is when using together with the VST plugin. You will be able to remote control DRC VST plugin from the mobile device.
Do you have any apps that are able to create a PDF of a webpage? I do this with almost every Manual and Music app blog article I can find with one of the many webpage pdf apps. Then, I transfer them into SmartOffice 2 to read through, or just leave them in the pdf viewer app to read.
We don't have wi-fi at home, so.....Ya, same boat.
just had a peek into this - nice approach to have a test time before unlocking
it's way more complex than it seems, kind of a Roland SH on steroids
the mellow soundcharacter has a lot of analog appeal
(which in fact is quite close to some modular stuff I have on a big DSP board, thumbs up)
the filter seems to lacks some definition in comparison, but I haven't fully worked out the modulation yet...
anyway - the reference system was a very high benchmark, so I consider this a minor issue
I got a lot of nice sounds out of this
not shure if this is specific to my setup with an iConnectAudio4 plus:
the synth lost it's sample sync while running idle for some time with the iPad not in use
it did not recover by wiping it off and restart - first had to start another audio app
then it loaded properly
the lost sync is not uncommon if I disconnect the iPad, take it somewhere else and reconnect it later
but usually closing and restarting an app fixes this
no problem and not a complaint at all, just an observation that may tell you something (or not)
cheers, Tom
There may be no acceptable excuses for all apps not being universal, but there can be an explanation by the developer such as:
None of these explanations may contribute anything towards getting your needs met from the app, so you're certainly justified in deciding not to buy it.
Tom, thanks for your feedback. You need to provide me more feedback on this one. This is not a use case I'm used to. Feel free to send me a private message so we can discuss it further. I have a iConnectMIDI2. Do you think I will be able to reproduce the problem with it?
I'm actually from Goa so I can understand portugues for the most part. Maybe> @sinosoidal said:
The iconnectmidi2s audio pass through is pretty much the same thing. Only thing its missing is the advanced audio routing between the two devices connected to it so you should be able to replicate it.
I'm away from my home currently so I can't test it with my iconnectaudio4+ right now. Will test it myself as soon as I'm able.
