  • Still , sometimes a note stucks within the onboard keyboard. A way to reproduce it is holding one note and tap with 2 fingers outside the keyboard area with the other hand. It happens when trying to play fast on real cases...
Great sound but (as usual) I'll wait for sale. (missed the previous one :'( )

Thanks for providing such a detailed feedback on how to reproduce the stuck note. Please not however that iOS has integrated gestures with four fingers that will cause the app to lose focus. It will have stuck notes in that cases. You need to disable system multitouch gestures to void this one.

Ok, but you you might have a really long wait for the next ;)

  • I have a ton of synths (most of them outperforming VST, including DIVA)
DRC is absolutely on par with my favorites, plus adds it's own character to the palette
(it really surprised me... and that does not happen too often)
one should honor the developer's effort at such an affordable price

    cheers, Tom

  • btw DRC could be an excellent source for a 'classic' vocoder
you know how to deal properly with filters, resonance and saturation
none of the existing vocoders really cuts it imh ears, their soundprint is way in the digital domain and rather flat when used without fx

    cheers, Tom

Thanks for your feedback @Telefunky and @JohnnyGoodyear!

By the way, did you knew that DRC is also available as VST?

  • yes, but I only noticed it a couple of days ago in one of the videos (showing a VST environment)
I'm in doubt that it sounds exactly like the IOS version, but if it does, it would be the very first VA synth that convinced me in VST land
(DIVA has a great sound, but lacks balls - it's just too clean and precise)

    cheers, Tom

Rest assured, you will have the exact same quality wether you are on iOS, Android or VST.

did you change anything on the sound engine, too ?
it may be chance or personal condition, but it seemed different from earlier versions
I didn't use it extensively, but the mode of operation starts to become kind of familiar
(which I consider a good sign)
btw it's the first synth of which I appreciate the effects implementation, really good job
sound is VERY unique, comes up more 'analogish' than some real analog synths recently

    cheers, Tom

There was indeed some slight improvements from version 1.0.2 to 1.0.3. Only the most delicate ears would hear the difference. From version 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 there were no changes in sound engine. If that happened it wasn't supposed. If believe that anything is not as it should be, please try to be very specific.

IAA launching with Cubasis is working a lot better now too.
Sorry for lack of feedback, but when things work as expected I usually stay silent :D

    That is good news! :)

I'm not that certain... just ran them side by side
(default preset slightly modified to remove manual influence)
octave dial to 9 o'clock, eg2 full up, all envelope values zero but decay full up, resonance 1.0 (I know I'm mean...)
then just a keypress-hold will sweep the filter (set to 104 on both devices) down at full resonance, here's the result (you may need to download the .wav)

example removed for a setup difference that spoilt results

    cheers, Tom

It seemed to me that the sound that came from the VST was more louder and that the filter was screaming more.

But for this test to be valid we need to compare the same versions. The VST is bit outdated and i'm currently working on a update for it. Are you in Mac or Windows? I can send you a beta version of the VST plugin.

VST is currently on version 1.0.2 which was released a three months ago. I wanted to stabilise everything and get user feedback before updating it again.

I tried to be as accurate as a quick shot allows, but obviously missed the pre-gain setting:
this was set visually identical, but values didn't match 100%
seems like the VST setting is a bit more aggressive: if set about 10% lower than in IOS, results became more comparable
I'll remove the file to avoid confusion - thanks for the hint and your efforts

forgot to mention: I ran it in a VST Host under XP (despite Win-7 suggestion)
in Win-7 there's some graphic stuff requested that I don't have installed
I'm a true Win-7 hater, it's installed just for compatibility and some stuff that absolutely needs it. The GUI is a kind of torture for me... tried again and again to get aquainted to it, but still fail. Since I almost exclusively run SAW Studio (fullscreen) with Zynaptiq plugins on it, I don't see much of the OS anyway

    cheers, Tom

ps: just to get this straight
the pre-gain setting is crucial, as is the control translation from the interface
(a tablet is smoother to operate than a PC screen, which may be the reason for occasional 'stepping')
with purely signal/curve driven control I could in fact produce sounds on both systems that are identical, at least to the ear - I stand corrected...

  • Great work on DRC, Nuno! It packs so much character.

I'm a bit curious about the cloud preset save feature. Have you guys thought about making it able to share presets with other users?

Among others, I'd love to see a basic sequencer being added to DRC

  • I've noticed that when modulating delay time with the lfo, it produces a popping sound with rapid changes, for example the sawtooth wave resetting to zero makes a pop. This makes it hard to get good shimmer or blurred effects as it produces a pop to a metallic note periodically.

  • Some great suggestions here, and it's very good to see a developer who cares. I thought I'd chip in and congratulate the devs for creating the only analog modelling app, Model 15, that truly convinces. DRC has a very pleasing vintage Roland sound...it really can get close to a 101 or 106.

  • My pads are so stuffed with synths that I feel the need of another one like of having measles a second time.
But the sight of this young enthusiast developer, and the deafening chorus of appreciations for the app worked on me. I'm going to the store :)

    Yes, we too!

    Hey guys!

First of all thanks for the incredible feedback on DRC.

Been out for a while. The whether is terribly hot and Portugal is literally on fire.

With the update to LK, my other app, I have been consolidating my apps shared tree, as result next version of DRC will have some minor cosmetic changes and improved graphical details and vice-versa.

Stability is my first priority and if anyone has crashes even sporadic, please report and be picky with the description, all details matter in order to reproduce them.

To those that also have facebook, I have created a group to hold all kinds of Imaginando products users.

I'm looking forward to release a 1.1.7 beta before we get to half of the month. Hope you are having a great summer (or winter?). :)

    Best!

    I meant "Model 15 ASIDE" there! :)

Keep at it Mister Nuno, you're on the right track....

  • Love this synth, one of the best I bought so far. :)

  • Hi there, I am looking for Midi learn in DRC? (And a downloadable pdf manual)

Do these exist hidden somewhere? If not, are you able to pass on good news of these coming in next update?

    Thanks

    Thanks

Midi learn is on the left side bar, midi icon. Just toggle and tap the parameter you want to assign to. To clear, double tap it.

Offline manual has been asked on this thread before. It's on the list. In the mean time print a pdf version of the website version.

  • @sinusoidal
Nuno, pls, I don't know if it has been asked already. There's any way to export the presets without jailbreaking?
