    My initial impressions are:

    1. I like the layout. I find it easy to use.
    2. I will find the sound useful.
    3. The sounds are mostly not swamped in fx which I like.
    4. The presets while ok seem aimed at a certain style of music. I will have to make my own.
    5. I think it's capable of much more than the presets show.
    6. It seems quite similar to a Roland partial. As an AU and mixing multiple instances, I believe some lush Rolandesque pads would be the order of the day.
    7. Keeping the fx off and using external seems to work best.
    1. The write button is too close to the patch scrol down button.
    2. There are some minor bugs - sticking notes etc.
    3. Some processor spikes when adjusting while playing.

    Damn it changed my numbering

    1. An EQ bypass switch would be handy.
  • I'm getting blissful flashbacks to good times long gone when going through the presets.

Got it as well. Somewhat disappointed or underwhelmed. Perhaps spent too much time over the past few days playing with Sunriser and Thor. Perhaps was born in the wrong decade. Did alleviate my remorse by remembering just how many under-used synth apps I already own and how this ten dollars might send me back to go through the sounds I haven't even listened to yet. All of this left me feeling somewhat churlish about someone else's hard work putting together an app that no doubt many will find hits their own sweet spot.

There's a lot of emotional turmoil in buying apps. To use our usual example, I never feel so conflicted about coffee.

Wise words as always. I feel I owe it to Sunrizer whom I have woefully neglected...

  • im giving it a 4/5 for its initial release. A thumbs up from me :)

If it goes AU it's a five.

So there I was, coming to this thread to validate my decision to buy after seeing everyone's positive feedback, and now I'm not so sure!

if you like it, you like it :)

  • After spending some hours with Poision-202 it's qucikly becoming one of my favourite synths :D
It does VPM(2OP FM) too via the Cross-Mod, like having 50% of Gadgets Chiang Mai...

    A New Favourite is born...

  • Can't control it from MIDIsteps...
    Otherwise a nice V1.0

  • Hello everybody! I am the developer, and I read this thread carefully. Thanks to everyone for your support! Feel free to throw me your thoughts, I will collect the info how to make this synth better.

    Hi!

If you can host Poison-202 in AUM you can set midiSTEPs to send the midi to AUM.
Follow the screenshot for AUM routing.

Thanks for Joining the forum. Like @Samu said this is quickly becoming one of my favorite synth. it has a very unique sound. did you build it from the ground up, or is it based on a synth that the prodigy used? ! I'd love to see midi learn function so to control knobs via midi from other apps. that would be cool. Also, a hold button for the arpeggiator could be nice.

Thanks. Yes I studied the manual of JD-990 and tried to extract from there the most useful things, keeping the simplicity from the other side. Plus, I'm a fan of Prophecy VPM sounding. A hold button to pause the arpeggiator?

    Hello Mr Developer.

Thanks for the new synth. I'm enjoying it.

Here's my would like and well done list:

    1. Would like the Write button moving or some form of check to see if I do want to save.
    2. Would love to see some samples adding to the waves on at least one of the Oscs.
    3. Would love AU extension, as the sounds would blend well into larger instruments in AUM.
    4. Would like an EQ bypass button.
    5. Well done making FX bypass easy.
    6. Well done having a scale play (could we have user scales in the future?).
    7. Well done on the layout.
    8. At last Linear knob gesture at download (hate circular with a passion lol).

All in all an enjoyable synth. AU would make it a much used great synth :)

cool! um yeah, maybe I worded it wrong. a hold button for the keyboard, so that you can press 1 or multiple keys, and let the arpeggiator play while you play white knobs.

I'm thinking 'hold' like a sustain-pedal to keep the notes playing after the fingers are lifted from the keys so the arp can keep in playing just like the arp-preview button in the settings :)

The devloper is a cool dude and knows what he's doing.

GUI seems ready made for AUv3, I hope it's a smooth process for him. This thing begs to be multi-instanced and sonically it blends nicely with Ruismaker

I've contacted him to offer support if he chooses to make it an AU.

That is mighty nice of you. Cuz, your two apps are working quite nicely as AU's for me.

Me too. I always take note of Captain Goodyear's feedback, since we have similar tastes in noise making. Saying that though I was looking for a noisy Prodigy-esque synth a while back when I opted for Cyclop, but I'm in a more ambient place at the moment.

I'll check the vids and see if they tempt me, but this could be a 'purchase another time when I'm in the right mood' type of thing. Does sound good though, definitely adds something new to the toolbox of joy.

while this indeed works, I hope that apps like midisteps and tc-data would work directly with poison 202. seems virtual midi ports do not apoear in the midi devices section. would like this fixed. this synth has very good sound imho (oscillators, filters have great character). lots of potential to go beyond the presets provided (which are fine but just scratch the surface so to speak).

Hi! Great synth, I love it. I would like to echo the requests for midi learn and hold/latch button ( not just for the arp ) and add to that an IAA transport control bar. Audiobus support and AU extension would be great too of course.

  • @jimpavloff

Can I also request a way to export out presets for external backup please.

    +1

  • I've been discussing many topics with the dev and I firmly believe Poison-202 will only get better with time :)

+1 for this and it's been discussed already.

Also 'Init Preset' would be instead of having to navigate to the user bank to get an empty starting point.

As far as I've understood AB and AUv3 are 'priority' among other smaller fixes.

Over all I've not found any real 'show stoppers' for daily usage. IAA-Instrument mode works perfectly within Cubasis, AUM and Garageband. So unless a person is die-hard AudioBus junkie there is nothing stopping us from getting the app today :)

  • I would love to see Doug (@thesoundtestroom) or Jakob (@jakoB_haQ) give Poison-202 a run for the money :D

  • Ok I've only made 4 decent presets so far, but lots more will come. I just get this synths layout - it feels comfortable already! I can't say that about many synths within the space of a few hours lol

Same feelings here. I mean it's easy to fill a bank with VPM/FM(Cross Mod) sounds if I would go ahead and save all the variations that pop up during tweaking.

These type of sounds will also get a lot more more 'expressive' if/when the option to route velocity to cross mod arrives.

I mean this app has been out like less than a day and It's already one of my favourites :D
