There you go, developers, prick up your ears.
and many more 'Banging' tunes....
I think the prime example from the 80s or so is Touch Me by Samantha Fox
or....Come Together by The Beatles

"Come together, over me." Dirty boys.
But not valid, examples have to be moans or sighs, not actual words.
Lol! There you go!
As stated, I'm not an experienced mixer etc. But, I've spent a lot of time in professional editing suites. I've watched professionals editing and sweetening audio jobs I was working on. One studio is owned by friends of mine and I used to hang out while they were doing sessions, etc. So, I've seen a lot of use at a pro level. I didn't know what was going on most of the time, but I did pay a little attention because when I wasn't getting a sound I wanted, I'd say, "what about this control over here... can we adjust this one a bit more, and move this thing over here instead, and see what that sounds like?" They were billing by the hour so they didn't seem to mind my ignorant requests.
In almost every recording studio I was ever in, they were always using ProTools. Except for one that was using some much higher-end suite that I can't remember the name of.
I mention this, because when I decided that I wanted to try to play with audio myself a little... mostly for video stuff as I've mentioned before... I first tried with Reaper, and got part of the way. Then I tried with Logic Pro X, and was blown away... but couldn't ever get very far along the learning curve.
So, that brought me to exploring iOS and the easier beginner apps. The further I moved along, the more complex the apps seemed to get. But, after just doing the work and sticking with it, most began to make more sense.
I originally bought Auria back before Pro, but when I dug into it, I found it so similar to the ProTools stuff I was so unfamiliar with, and my iPad at the time didn't seem to be robust enough to hand it... so I gave up and put it on the back shelf. When the dev released an entire new product called Pro, and didn't really offer much credit to early adopters to upgrade, it pissed me off. No other way to put it. And I stayed pissed off for awhile. Although I get that he's a solo dev and needs to recoup much time in development, etc. But I still think he could've handled that better.
That being said, I was already invested in Auria and it's one of 2 apps that supports video import (via IAP) and it seems to work. The other app that supports it, hasn't been updated in a couple years.
So, when the update sale came along, I didn't really want to upgrade since I'm not doing anything professional with my iOS tools (or my desktop tools for that matter). Didn't think I needed it. But, since I'm already $55 (with IAP) invested... I figured I'd bite the bullet and see what all the "Pro" fuss is all about from people who appear to know what they're doing and seem to love it.
I've been putting in more time now with Auria Pro over the last couple of days since upgrading, and although I'm not so thrilled that I've invested $75 in it at this point... I AM glad I chose the Auria route. From what I've seen so far, It looks and functions very similarly to the desktop DAWS that I'd like to use more. And, I think now that I'm finally putting in the time, have learned more about this stuff from other iOS apps, its feeling like I've come full circle and learning things that are/will help me more fully grasp the desktop DAWS.
I didn't jump ship to Cubasis when it was on-sale, but I thought about it. The main reason I stuck with Auria was the video capability. I know many love Cubasis on this forum, including the popular app reviewers. But, Auria Pro is starting to feel like the right tool for me. I'll revisit Cubasis at some point when/if there's another sale, but not until I''ve fully understood Auria Pro, to more fairly evaluate whether it's all I really need/want.
Letting go of issues and challenges I've had in the past, I can say that I'm glad I'm on the Auria Pro bus now.
Very good.
I'd like to make note of that last sentence. As much as we all look for alternatives to that statement, that's really the truth about everything, isn't it?
Too true.
Great! End of the controversy! People, go for this sale, it's a steal, and AU is coming
Honestly, you should work at wavemachinelabs PR-Department...
Frank Zappa - "the Torture Never Stops"
I think, to be fair, all of us could be accused of a variation of that for one app or another if we went back through our comment history
Yep but so far I've gotten no 'Job Offers'
I honestly bought Audioshare because of Samu... Samu, you should talk to audioshare guy to get a commission!
It's kind of amazing to me that people are hemming and hawing about Auria Pro at this price. If it was only the Fabfilter Twin synth, it would be a MUST BUY! Plus it's Lyra, plus the time stretching, plus really strong eq and mixing abilities.
The only drawback for me is the lack of midi keyboard, but you can get around this with Navichord (right?) or an external keyboard.
Exactly. Most of us have got 2 iPads? Problem solved!
Gee, thanks!
But I feel 'Mr. Audioshare' deserves everything he can get, it's such an essential tool for us all
I've got nothing against the app in this thread but the discussion is more or less like the classic C64 vs. Spectrum, Atari vs. Amiga, PC vs. Mac
And I lived through all of them, well mostly lol
I agree. I didn't already have a DAW, I'd be jumping all over this. Even as a $20 upgrade I feel it's a sweet deal, considering.
The whole Pro shebang for $25, I would think would be an "insta-buy" for those just looking to buy their first full-featured DAW.
AU support and maybe a keyboard/controller would be nice, but I honestly don't have and complaints at all. It feels like a real pro-tool for the "big kids" that I'll benefit from growing into over time.
Yep, it's still got plenty to offer us noise makers Skip
In somewhat of a masochistic exercise, I just totalled up all of my Auria related invoices, and was greeted with the tidy sum of $189, tax not included. That's original Auria, followed by the Pro upgrade, four Fabfilters, and a couple of Twin 2 packs. I must say, money well spent.
Auria Pro has become the hub of all my iOS music creation. I had almost zero experience with studio software before I started using Auria last year. I am now able, with Auria Pro, to do things, with relative ease, that I never knew were possible on an iPad.
$24.99 is shockingly good value for this software. If you purchase Auria Pro at this price and are not satisfied with what it offers, then you should probably be looking at a solution other than iOS for your music making.
Yessir. And full disclosure, as long as we're talkin about users pimpin apps they dig... I pulled the trigger on the upgrade based on your private recommendation alone. Thanks!
Yeah but you asked. I will dig the pimp call though. What's my pimp name? Lol
Word on the street is that "Fruitbat" is classic pimp name, fo shizzle yo.
Tend to agree, we need useful, impartial advice (of which there is much on this forum), not 'my favourite is best' type of opinionating.
Maybe would be good to have a list of pros anc cons list both for Cubasis and Auria Pro where people could add their comments.
There is no such thing as an impartial advice: everyone has their preferences and biases. I am biased to solutions that enable me to do all the production steps on the iPad alone, from songwriting to pseudomastering: that, of course, is matter of taste, my own, personal preferences on how iOS music should be done - many people find iOS cumbersome for certain tasks, and so are resigned to use the iPad for songwriting/sketching, while using a desktop DAW of their liking for the heavy lifting. To each their own!
But when I said Auria Pro is the only iOS DAW that can do all the work of a Desktop DAW, I'm outside the realm of personal taste and totally inside the domain of indisputable facts. Auria has all the features you expect from a modern Desktop DAW, and some features only iOS' touch interface can provide. Soon it will have a built-in touch MIDI controller - which Logic Pro X, for instance, doesn't have. One can argue: "oh, but my favourite iOS DAW has a built-in controller already!". Yeah, but does it do almost everything what Logic, ProTools, Reaper can, and then some? Can it be the center of a professional audio studio environment, or of a live recording gig? Auria Pro can, no other iOS app can. Plain fact.
I am not a hobbyist - and as a disclaimer, I don't think this makes me in any way better than anyone, or gives me any special authority on the subject. BUT, as a personal testimony, I can say that having a fully featured DAW in my backpack opened for me lots of work oportunities I otherwise wouldn't have. I also have Cubasis and Garageband - and the latter is a joy for sketching songs - but none could replace Auria for serious, money-earning work.
All the best, and I advise everyone that has the spare money and an iPad Air 1 or better to at least try Auria Pro while it's on sale, and use it for a couple of weeks to get used to its idiosincrasies. I doubt there will be any regrets!
