Well, I tried it, and it gave me 100mb more space lol.

    Just thinking aloud:

You use Gadget mostly to make your tracks.
You want to make segments to trigger from Launchpad.

Carry on making the tracks in Gadget and then copy the project. Strip the project copy back to make the loop then send to external storage. Clean up loop as needed and send to Launchpad. Delete all copies as they will be externally stored.

Anything that need major adjustments can still be altered from your saves and you still have the main project too.

No need for Auria Pro for doing this. Auria Pro is great and a steal at the offer, yet do you really need it for how you make music at this time?

Gadget projects are not an issue, they are tiny, the space is used in the resulting Launchpad project (where the loops are stored as audio). I send all loops to Launchpad via audioshare, so that i can move them to dropbox easily, and have done this with all projects.

The sticking point is that projects/sessions in Launchpad cannot be backed up, so I have to keep them on the iPad or save the loops/make notes of all loop and FX settings and recreate the project if I wanna get it back.

  • My Auria Pro install is 4.3 GB with 3.5 GB being documents and data. Do you think the free Lyra instruments and drumkits I downloaded added to that storage? How do you delete Lyra samples and the demo song? I don't have any projects as the app is too powerful for my device but have it on here until I upgrade my ipad.

Also, thanks @skiphunt for sharing the video rental trick! I doubled my storage from 3.1 to 6.1 doing it 3 times.

Ruismaker is cool indeed! I love it! Yet I keep what I said, @sirdavidabraham: i'd rather have a new killer Auria plug-in than AUX support at the moment if I have to choose.

So now that @WaveMachineLabs has confirmed active development on AU it shouldn't be long before every Auria Pro (as well as Cubasis) producer can have Ruismaker and Ruismaker/FM in their arsenal....these by the way have updates in the App Store today.

iOS has such a bright future.

I think the appropriate way is to envision it as you basically SAVED yourself $25. Which is a rather nice night out! So go spend that extra money!

    @AndyPlankton

Maybe you can go retro and record everything in 12bit? :p That would save space!

  • Right, how do I delete the demo and lyra stuff :)

Hmmm... those of us who paid $50 for Auria before Pro, still have to pay $39.99 to upgrade and keep our IAPs?

I think IAPs will transfer even if you buy Auria Pro separately. Check on the Auria forums to make sure, but that's how I remember it.

There's a thread by Rim explaining the IAP thing. But, it appears the store sees the PRO if you purchased the one on sale, as a new/separate app.

I don't have much, and likely wouldn't bother with an upgrade unless it was a really sweet deal. And only then because I'd be supporting the dev. Because I don't really need anything in Pro anyway.

EDIT: Looks like it's possible if you already own Auria to pass the IAPs over, but its a bit of a hassle and you have to maintain both apps if you ever delete PRO, you'll have to reinstall non-pro, reload your IAPs, then hit a button to transfer them to PRO again: http://auriaapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=13601

I've no dog in this fight as I don't have any Aurias, being mostly an iPhone dabbler, but this is a perfect example of why IAPs are a terrible user experience. They're just technologically unfit for the task. The fact that receipts can be checked after the fact is a total hack. They were conceived for use with consumables, not durable goods. Digital goods are still struggling to be a thing, because in some way they really aren't things. IAPs, even less so.

    For the demo:

Load a new project if the demo is loaded.
Go to menu / load project.
From there you can slide the demo project left and click delete.

  • @AndyPlankton said:

Don't know about Lyra, but all you have to do with the demo is create a new project, then go to load project, and slide over the demo to reveal delete button.

BTW: there are other free demos in the Auria store you can download to reverse engineer later. Personally, I think RIM should kill that demo on initial download and just add it to the store free demos to download. A lot of people don't buy if the DL size is more than they have room for. That demo is a little more than 500MB alone.

The sampler instrument folder is in there too. Just delete which instrument folders you don't want.

i can see a folder there for sampler instruments....but cannot see any files in it, is that because I didn't download the additional content ?

Yeah, I just had to clear space for 500MB that I instantly deleted without even playing it :|

you might have to delete those using iTunes file sharing. I didn't DL any extras and iTunes file sharing shows 471MB in the Sampler Instruments. I'll leave this to someone else though. Haven't tried.

I did add some free IR's for signing up my email address, but I added those using iFunBox

For the record, I was originally down on Auria... and didn't want to upgrade, etc. But now that I have, and have spent a few days with PRO, I'm glad I did. If I hadn't already invested in Auria years ago to begin with, I'd be all over getting PRO for $25, knowing what I know now. It's really a great bargain for what it appears capable of.

  • Does anyone know when the sale ends? I've been under a rock for the past 5 days and only saw about the sale today. I won't be able to get to my iPad to upgrade from Auria for another 7 hours. With my luck the sale will be over by then.

  • Buy it on iTunes, and then download it to your iPad when you have it with you.

    Ok do it from here:

Menu / import file / sampler instruments

You see the actual files in the folders from there, I believe

Sadly I have a firewall at work that prevents me from accessing the iTunes store from my computer. :(

  • All the attention on Auria Pro in this thread has motivated me to go back and take a closer look at some of the things I know it can do but hadn't really leveraged yet. I've always been impressed with AP, but my respect has gone way up after this weekend's deep dive. In particular, the MIDI Quantize/Groove and randomization are really stellar. The audio stretch and quantize, and the audio editing are impressive too once you understand them. Difficult to get a handle on, but powerful once understood.

I'm happier and more impressed than ever with this amazing tool.

I find this report bother inspiring and depressing. All that can be done (apparently) and all I do not....(plus it sounds hard... :))

Yep I should use AP features more, but I say that about most my apps :p

  • After getting my head around the interface, reading a few choice chapters of the manual and figuring out some basic MIDI and Audio routing stuff (thank god for Googles ability to search the AB and Auria message boards!) I've loved every moment spent with Auria. Really amazing tool. I have a constant craving for more and more Auria in my life. I want to lock myself away with the manual for a weekend. I want to record other peoples music so that I don't have to bother creativity and just rout audio, tweak EQ, adjust compression and automate that shit. I want active message board discussions exploring the minutia of Auria on a philosophical level. I want hints and tips threads (the existing ones aren't enough). I want updates. I want youtube videos (more!!). I want to stare bemusedly at the input matix, confused at its lack of logic yet satisfied that all my audio is being routed to the right place.

I like Auria, and I'm definitely going to be buying some external storage.

I hear you, and very loudly as regards staring bemused at the input matrix :)

  • wondering if I buy it and then Cubasis 2.0 adds decent mixer options, will I regret spending the £18.99 :/

No. Because this is like the Beatles and the Stones; both can make great music. So, if you have the spare cash, dip in while the going is good.

I feel like I've finally evolved toward a solid creative process:

    • ModStep (MIDI only) and/or Gadget for composition and jamming
    • AudioBus and AUM for instrument hosting
    • Auria Pro for finishing of compositions that make it that far.

Sprinkle that with some Infinite Looper and Garage Band for those times when on the iPhone or when ModStep feels like more overhead than I want, and I feel like I finally can put the experimentation behind me and have my tools to-hand for each phase. B)

[Edit: OH! and Patterning for composition and Jamming. How could I have forgotten that little piece of perfection?]

I'm not a live performer. That simplifies things hugely.

This is my workflow to a T. (Although I tend to use AUM to jam quite a bit.)
And now that I have just discovered Midi Link Sync, I CAN CONQUER ANYTHING.
(Once I actually open the app and learn it, I mean.)

  • Errrrm, just deleted the demo project, and thought I'd root around in the sampler folder....only to find nothing there. So how do I download this content, and can I do so selectively?

Look on the store and see which sounds you can download for free.

The others are already part of the package.

I have deleted the folders before and this seems to get rid of the associated instruments. Just remember you would have to reload the app again I think to be able to get those back.

The downloadable instruments can be deleted and redownloaded if you want to. It's these that are really big.
