I'm ready! ☕️
Soon and 'Few Moments' are like looking at the progress bar when downloading files...
When it says it's 1 minute remaining and it slows down it's still 1 minute from the time you read the screen even if the counter doesn't change![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
...![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Should we interpret that as 'Submitted to Apple for Review'?![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
This is going to end up being someone's doctoral thesis....
Lecturer - "When will your thesis be ready ?"
Johnny - "Soon!"
Alright. Ten points.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
YAY!, he he he...got to do something while we wait !
This reminds me of the 80s when my dad would take the family to Red Lobster once a month. We'd order, and he'd immediately light up a cigarette. As kids, we were outraged! His explanation? It makes the food come faster.
No one smokes anymore though.
LMAO, I do that to make my indian takeaway come quicker![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Yeah, I think this is an example of why it makes sense to have competing DAW products, or even why multiple DAW's could make sense for one user. I read @theconnactic 's critiques of Cubasis and honestly, with the exception of audio quantization (which I've yet to have tested out in Auria Pro), most of those features are well above my pay grade as an iOS "musician". So you could look at the argument two ways: (1) Do I want the most raw functionality in my DAW for a pro or semi-pro experience; or (2) Do I want the level of DAW functionality I will realistically use, presented in a U.I. that is more accessible and less intimidating to casual users. Since I fit more neatly into camp #2, I think I will prefer Cubasis. I could fully understand power users preferring Auria Pro, or using them both for different things.
Regarding the Auria plug-ins, however, a few things:
The assumption is that this is a one-to-one comparison between the two because they are generally the same price ($50 U.S.). That assumption kind of goes out the window once you start recommending plug-ins, since most of them range from $20 to $40.
The lack of AU functionality in a premium DAW is a big deal. Even if you accept that several of the Auria plugins (FabFilter, Saturn, etc. - I don't really have any of them) are above and beyond AB/IAA apps, the fact remains that we have an increasing number of great apps (like the 2 Ruismakers and the FM synth coming from @brambos) that only function within an AU host. So, if you only had Auria Pro, you couldn't (conveniently) use those, just as a Cubasis user can't use the Auria plug-ins.
I have a 12.9" iPad Pro and the implementation of the Auria synths, sampler, and plugins given all that real estate was embarrassingly bad. I know there are ways you can change it a bit, but you get an onscreen keyboard to play the instruments that was maybe 1/5 the size of the screen, and the plugin dashboards occupied a space about the size of an iPhone 4s despite all of that extra space.
It's just a difference of perspective. The list of "missing" features from Cubasis is appreciated, but I feel that ease of use (apart from the zooming complaints) is something of value to casual and pro users alike, whereas the additional features of Auria Pro over Cubasis are only likely to be enjoyed by a relatively small (albeit knowledgeable and loud) subset of DAW power users.
Auria will have AU very soon, so this (quite valid) critique is about to become moot.
For me the fun, joy and inspiration of composition is the most important thing by far. So far Cubasis (while I have some interface complaints) leads the way on iOS for me in this regard.
Mixing and engineering features have always tended to dominate discussion on Internet forums though. Even though everybody knows most musicians can't and shouldn't mix![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Having great fun reading your comments how to codify the word "soon" and "in a moment".
We appreciate all your comments and can't wait to release the update ourselves...
We're close...
Best,
Lars
That's because we let the OCD nerds do that part when we're done creating!
Now you've used the word 'close', we will have to update all equations for distance as well as time![:s :s](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/confounded.png)
Glad you enjoy it!![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
The first thing I will look after is available options for grid-lines and quantise options...
(I can't stress this enough but it really doesn't make any sense to be able to quantise to one value and not have any grid-lines for it).
And we'll Freezing AU-X/IAA-Instrument tracks will be interesting to check out too and I really hope they will match the grid-lines this time![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)

Please introduce a like button, it's heavily required ...
Have a great evening everybody!
Best,
Lars
Lol! If I wasn't to mix and master on the iPad, and didn't produce recordings for customers as well as for myself, yet I'd have to choose Garageband over Cubasis, because of Logic Pro X integration (we can all agree LPX is a better platform than Cubendo, on a Mac at least), AU support, inexpensive pricing, unbeatable ease of use, unbeatable songwriting joy (drummer AI, smart instruments, smart loops, built in amp sims for guitar and bass with tuner included, a plethora of cool Apple loops etc etc etc).
But I see your point here, @sirdavidabraham. Just think that, if you take the mixing/mastering/boring audio editing/pro studio critical tasks out of the equation, I cannot honestly see the need for anything beyond Garageband. And if you consider them, no DAW other than Auria Pro is up to it.
I have Cubasis, though: bought it on a previous sale, and I can appreciate its strengths. I use ot mostly when I have to come up with ideas for customers that use Cubendo in their studios, though.
They say Germans don't have humor
LOL
I am starting to believe that Steinberg and Lars in particular are enjoying watching our anxiousness!!!!
Yup we just need to master the great art of zipping up stems![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
I have come up with an equation, that when fed all of Lars comments can predict the exact date and time of the Cubasis 2 release! The only problem is that I've run out of punch cards to feed the data in with![:s :s](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/confounded.png)
My guess: version 2.5 is on the shelf ready to be released but they don't because this is so much fun!
I don't blame them.
Yep I do continue to explore GarageBand, just turns out that Cubasis beats it performance wise when it comes to AU...GB tends to choke much faster, interrupting the experience with "optimizing performance" wayyy too often. However GB does have smoother MIDI editing and higher PPQ.
Also even though I rather despise IAA-MIDI I can at least attempt to use Model15 with Cubasis...nada with GarageBand. Perhaps they will improve GB for NAMM 2017
So as of now Cubasis is the one
He said "Introduce" could he be sending Sebastian a code word? Having to do with AB3?
The plot thickens......![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
I have an equation too, and it is on a BBC micro so it doesn't need punch cards, I have left it running the equation over the last few weeks, being a BBC micro it is a lot slower than most of today's computers, anyway after waiting all that time, it came up with an answer.....
Closer!
>
That's what I have noticed too...
Hope there is a serious improvement(at least 480ppqn) in that department in Cubasis 2.0
I do like the way GB increases the grid-resolution for 'snap' when zooming in, just like Logic Pro X does...
It also remembers the length of the previously added note. Too bad GB has no editing of mod-wheel and pitch-bend or any other controllers. Imagine 'editing' of all AU-Parameters for a selected plug-in!
Call me crazy but I feel that the folks at Steinberg have downloaded all the 'competing' apps and then selected equivalent features from their Cubase lineup and iOSified some of them for Cubasis![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
I do have pretty high expectations on Cubasis 2.0...
I used BBC micros at school![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
