I"m digging it. Incidentally I tried out the Team Circuit pack last night alongside the LP-app... really nice sounds, going to be terrific to add all these sounds in. I still want the LP FX to work w/ Blocs... my favorite Gater!

Can we request that you make it possible and also for recorded performances as well. Would make it super easy to record a few loops and then chop them up in BW.

This can already be done with Open In I think?

Isn't it. Some of the LP sounds really mix it up a lot - really cool

Yes. Stuff that does not logically go together is working incredibly well, unlike my auto spellchecker. :/

The serendipitous approach to evolving ideas, from which to work with, has never been so quirky.

  • OK. Somebody clue me in to exactly how this earthshaking development will work? I have a weird prohibition on using premade loops. (Unfortunately, I haven't worked out a reliable method of churning out my own loops to compensate....)

    So talk me through this:
I load some drums and synths into AUM. I get a good groove. It's about 3 minutes long. Unsure of how I'd like the structure to work, though. And there are a few really lousy notes.

    My options?
    1. Trim the file into discreet loops. Using...AudioShare? Then send to Blocs Wave? (Or can I trim a 2 minute file directly in BW)?
    2. Then I send the loops to Launchpad, where I can trigger audio clips (a la midi clips in Modstep?)
    3. Then I can arrange these into a structure, all the while layering new clips over top of them?

But seriously, what a great time to be getting into music making on IOS. I wish I'd had BW and Launchpad back in the day. No app or software can truly compose for anyone, but as an aid to sonic imagination this is hard to beat!

Yes, I haven't thought of that. That will work for now. Having them in the shared folder so that duplicates are not being made would save space on my 16gb iPad but it will work.

  • How do you import your owned packs from launchpad to block wave. Where is this shared folder in the app?

  • @ExAsperis99 I find myself in a similar dilemma. Just dive in and experiment. The apps cater to the curated, but there's a lot of flexibility in there for rabble like us, too. @AudioGus seems to have it figured out. I wish he would just make some videos already. The pretty Novation videos just show you how to play nice.

  • This is an AWESOME update. To me these two apps are inseparable already. I'm stoked to get home tonight and go nuts with it.

    I have a suggestion:

Midi in to play the Blocs Slices. I would love to use my Akai pads to play the slices with the same velocity and aftertouch sensitivity as my Ipad Pro Screen.

Aww, thanks for the encouragement... I just wish I had a decent setup for making videos.

Agreed , adding circuit into the equation makes this an instrument that is very difficult to put down, instantly gratifying, and none of the usual iOS hassle :)

Hmmm. I was talking about getting the kid a Beatstep pro but maybe I should be thinking of thing Circuit thingie...

  • They auto import into BW. At first launch they didn't show up, but wait a bit and then close and restart apps and they'll be there under packs.

  • @blocsxnovation What about making all LunchPad content available to BlocsWave?
(Or better yet available to all other apps using the standard iOS DocumentPicker/iCloudDrive?).

I suspect you're already using a 'private shared storage' between LaunchPad and BlocsWave in a similar way that AudioShare and AUM do.

Sure, adding public file-provider support could be a 'work-around' for adding new sounds to Launchpad without the SoundImport IAP in the same way as making Blocs Wave content available to Launchpad...

  • Guys, does blocs have autosave for projects?
Also, my last project has strange behavior, it moving as at playes, but no sound from that particular 'clip' emerges

I have both, kids and the BSP... hmmm Tough call. Presuming little exposure/interest I'd probably go Circuit - portable, headphones, and the synths and web components - also good w/ phone/tablet if available. BSP is more open-ended, with a daw or plugins it's great for sequencing, and the editor is great for deeper control... not to mention all the connections onboard if you have xtra hardware available- but demands more attention, not making its own sounds. Price is about the same I think. Can't resist throwing in the LaunchControl XL... with the Isotonik Step Sequencer and XXL Scripts it's quite powerful, can do MCU/HUI and even CV for about 1/2 price the other 2... lucky kiddo either way!

  • Novation is crushing it right now. Brilliant update.

Use words! Step by step!! Anything! We're desperate! :)

  • @Jumpercollins You don't have to do anything. Just open up BlocsWave and go to find, Packs and they should show up on the left. I did open up both apps at the same time but even with Launchpad closed and BlocsWave open they show up.

Guys, short smooth jazz sample of Blocs Wave and Sampletank's saxophone.... Not too long. Used Infinite Looper's keyboard to drive ST2's saxophone.

Blocs Wave is soooooo much fun guys, forgive me for posting it here, but for those still on the fence for Blocs Wave, this app is so addicting, so fun, it really rekindles inspiration!

  • ..or does it has Undo?
Can i prehear the samples before turning them on?

  • Nice little piece there MM4C. Puts me in mind of a notional early nineties detective show where sad things happen in warm places late at night..

  • Thanks, was just playing with the different loops in BW and loaded up ST2 inside IL and just started jamming into AUM, of course all hosted inside our beloved Audiobus.

Thanks for that insight. We're not currently running a DAW/Ableton so I'm looking for something that can hook in to the iPad and play clips etc from there.....which is what I was hoping the BSP could do, but I think I need to look at Circuit as well. Just scraed of buying something we can't actually make use of :open_mouth:

  • @blocsxnovation So playing around with it for a few minutes and I really like how simple the UI is. The more and more feature requests you get and try and implement, can clutter up the interface. Keep up the great work on keeping the interface clean.

That being said can we get a little reverse button beside the slip icon? And maybe add the ability to press and drag loops on top of each other to combine them or an overdub option int he record?

Sure. Well if you don't have pc/mac (Daw not withstanding) access Circuit would be better, the editor for the BSP is fairly essential and only on desktop - though w/out access to the Circuit Components website (not possible currently w/ ios) would also be a hamper for me (firmware update/sample upload etc). However, if you have a mac/pc both are non-issues. And you can always get a free Daw like Carla, which I'm fond of.

  • Cheers guys all sorted now.

This is the single thing I come up against/wish for (because of the track limit)....it's also one of my favorite parts of Loopy's UI.
